New Titanfall gameplay [Gamescom]

Okay... let's say I buy this game on Origin and it's later released on Steam. Would EA give out Steam keys since I already bought the game once?

Everyone whining about how they don't know how to use KB/M is hilarious. It's not like it takes less than an hour to get used to it.

Nope.

Chances are EA wouldn't publish it on steam the developer would have to go out of their way to publish it on steam themselves.

Same thing happened with kingdoms of alamur.

Those design choices mostly lower the skill floor, not the skill ceiling.

Yeah, this seems right to me. I guess that a lot of people think that if you can jump into a game and immediately have fun and maybe kill a few dudes it must require no skill? I've had my fair share of fun in COD but I'm the first to admit that I'm pretty crap at the game. You tell me that getting the nuke kill streak requires no skill, that's crazy talk.

Maybe CS 1.6 has a higher skill ceiling but that doesn't imply at all that COD doesn't have one.

Well I like SP player games much more than multiplayer so there's that....also I dont like the the gameplay remains relatively the same level to level, same issue I had with L4D where all the levels felt the same because the gameplay didnt change
EDIT: I kind of see it as buying a subscription to McDonalds that runs out in a year or two then you have to renew

I'm more of an SP guy, but I'd rather they devote everything to MP on a game like this than the traditional split between SP and MP. The SP would likely be a short 4 hour campaign with a paper thin story that I'd play once and quickly forget.

If they can devote all their resources into making a deep MP game with a large variety of maps and modes, I'm all for it.

Won't happen, the Steam release would be completely standalone and not Steamworks.

IE buying copies on GMG or Amazon would allow you to activate the game on Origin. The Steam client would be the only place to purchase that version.

I am in agreement.

What is the purpose of devoting resources towards a linear, afterthought campaign? For a check mark on the back of the retail box?

I applaud Respawn for what they are doing in that respect.

Looks so fucking good. I have literally no idea how people can dismiss this as 'COD with mechs'. This is by far the single most fun looking next-gen game announced. I am going to play this a shitload.

I agree. There is still a recognizable formula here, but this could be one of those games that takes an existing base and refines/adds to it enough that it feels fresh, amazing, and like a legitimate step forward for the genre.

It looks amazing, to the point I find myself in the surprising position of an FPS being one of the games I'm most excited for. The presentation is incredibly unique for a COD-esque multiplayer game, relaying information to you as if you're on a campaign mission; the movement through the environment looks so fluid, dynamic, and simply enjoyable, also opening room for various unique combat situations, and perhaps even some actual exploration; the amount of polish already showing up in the game (and the game is still somewhat far off!) through all the little details is impressive, like how weighty yet agile the Mech at the beginning looks as it runs into battle, the enemy pilot being pulled from their Mech, the little cross hair that shows up around a frag when it's thrown out of view, the player latching onto someone else's Mech, etc.; that particular level looked so lovely, with a dominant grey-blue color, a lot of red, this almost anchoring sort of fuchsia color in the center trees, and a lovely skyline; and so on.

These are the people who made the last Call of Duty I absolutely loved (4), so I guess I shouldn't be surprised their latest work hit a nerve with me.

This game looks very fun but I have one thing I wanted to ask, I know the game is a multiplayer game but is it online only? Can I play against a bunch of AI opponents if I want to? Not too into online multiplayer.

looks fun, curious to see how well the 360 version holds up! Its not in the same league as BF4 or KillzoneSF visually imo but it doesn't need to be really if it plays well enough.

All they've really said is that it doesn't have any traditional SP campaign, but it does have a SP component. Educated guess would be that means playing the campaign MP missions with bots.

This game...I like what I've seen. I like it a lot. Does it have the prettiest graphics? No. Do I care? No. It's 60 FPS, and Titanfall quite simply looks FUN.

Day 1 on PC for me.

Will have to see how it feels. The guns.

I really hate CoD, so if this feels the same (gunplay) I won't be interested. I'm not really sold on the mech stuff either. I like the pilot traversal elements, and the aesthetics are pretty cool... guess we'll see.

Probably won't be getting an X1 anyway, so it might be moot.

I can understand and agree on a need to ADS at long ranges. At medium range encounters when movement is playing a role, will your bullets be accurate?

The skill ceiling has nowhere to go but down if you are all standing still, with auto aim, and low TTK at every point on the body.

I don't understand the need, hipfire has been awesome for long range fire in cs, quake, ut, rtcw (which was close to cod in playstyle in many ways) etc
Normally you have recoil /spread to make sure you can't spray people down at long range and need to actually carefully aim.

I fully agree that ads cripples the skill ceiling, ADS isn't the only problem the base movement speed is very very low too.
The whole delay between sprinting and being able to shoot has always been a big anchor on cod's neck, it often turns it into who sees who first or who catches who while the other guy is sprinting.

Titanfall could have been the game consoles/modern shooters needed to get out of the ADS and slow movement speed rut, sad to see that respawn squandered the opportunity.
Bigger maps and the wall jumping shit is all kind of inconsequential if you can't strafe while shooting and move at a snail's pace.

Graphics look 360 level IMO. Does not have the wow factor like other games from that stand point.

I think this is up to hyperbole levels, the 360 could never run anything close to that level of visual fidelity.

Not with the the level of AA, textures, resolution, and frame rate they are aiming for. That definitely looks like a PC game to me.

Titanfall will not blow people away with the visual fidelity, but you can be assured that the modified source engine will provide a smooth, optimized experience.

And I'm getting so tired of that gameplay.

You either saw me first, or are camping in the right spot. So frustrating.

The graphics are really underwhelming, but the gameplay looks like a lot of fun.

gameplay >>> graphics

I can already tell I'm going to suck at this game. I'm really bad at quick thinking movement tactical fighting.

Graphics don't have to be the best around. In this case they're good (enough) so as not to detract from gameplay.

The new trailer makes it look even more fun than before. Wish a Steam version were coming out along with the Origin version, but what are ya gonna do? I'll just have to wait.

There is a distinct possibility we will see a Steam version of this game.

Titanfallis published under EA Partners, which gives Respawn control of the IP and the ability to self-publish.

I'm very tempted to get this game day 1 on PC, looks almighty fun. The fact that it uses the Source engine means that it should run fine on lower end systems.

Hopefully there will be a Steam release. Even if it only releases on Origin though I would still buy it. Never had any problems with Origin so I can put up with it.

Didn't give a monkeys first time I saw this game. Really looking forward to it now.

this showed almost nothing new from the e3 gameplay and because of that, was lacking the wow factor.

serious question, what changed your mind?

Man, this game looks so awesome. I wish they'd put a little extra animation in your 1st person view or something when you're wall-running. Seems a little bit...detached the way it is now.

As an aspiring PS4 owner: this looked outstanding. Hopefully the parkour style wall hopping and running controls as well as it seemed to in the trailer. The mechs look brilliant.

MS chose their third party (timed?) exclusive well. It looks like it's going to be a great console launch for both consoles.

Thanks for that info, glad to know. My long vigil for an Origin-free Battlefield has been uneventful, hopefully my Titanfall watch will be decidedly less so.

Looks amazing but I never end up playing online games for more than a month or so before I get tired of it.

Hope there's a beta.
