How often do you IMAX?

I almost never do. There's only one such theater near me and it only plays one movie at a time so it's not a real convenient option.. Plus I just don't really get all the jazzed over a bigger screen. Usually when I go it's because I'm dragged along. I don't think I would ever say "Hey lets go see that movie in IMAX"

What about you guys?
 
I haven't been to the cinema in years, it's overpriced and filled with idiots that need to put a sock in it. I much prefer waiting until the film is out on Bluray and watching it at home.
 
Never, unless I'm out of town and there is a legitimate IMAX theater.
...and there's actually a movie out worth seeing.

Everything here is LIEMAX (though there is a dome, but I don't want to watch non-science stuff on that)
 
Regularly. I have the BFI IMAX very near me. And for certain films it's a must for me.

Great news is I don't usually pay for any tickets.
 
2-3 times a year.

Enough for me since I am really not all that fond of theaters since a year or two. It became such a huge festivity for teenagers that the only way you can sit relaxed is if you go on a Monday morning at its earliest.
 
Whenever I can. I love LIEMAX complainers. It's still better than a normal cinema screen, which is often the only alternative.
 
A few times a year as the closest to me is about an hour and half drive. It's worth it though as it's the biggest one in the world :D I have to be eagerly anticipating a movie to go there though. I think I'll be there next month for a Raiders screening!
 
Hardly ever, there is an LieMax Screen in Dublin, but the nearest real IMAX screen to me is London, which is about an hours flight from my house, the only time I've made an effort to see a film in IMAX was The Dark Knight Rises, though I did fly to London for a few hours just to see The Master in 70mm.
 
Cant even remember the last time I went to a standard movie theater. It's just expensive, not that I couldn't afford it but it's just a waste of money when you can just wait for a bluray copy that you can enjoy at the comfort of your home. What more for IMAX.

Really didn't care for it the few times I've gone, seems like a gimmick ilke 3D that just makes tickets more expensive.

If I'm going to pay extra for a movie I rather it be to see it at a premium theater with comfy couch seating, food service, 21+ only restrictions.
 
Almost never. It is disgustingly overpriced. I guess I'm not as much of an A/V quality enthusiast as I used to be.

Generally, I only go to matinee showings at the local theatre for $6. At that price, it's only a couple more bucks than renting/downloading would cost anyway.
 
If a movie I want to see is in IMAX, I'll probably see it in IMAX. The IMAX screen is the only screen around that has reserved seating so it's worth the extra couple bucks for the convenience of not having to worry about seats.
 
I have a real IMAX near me but it's expensive and I've been there less than a handful of times. I saw MoS there this summer and was tempted to see Pacific Rim, but never did. It's expensive and inconvenient compared to more traditional theaters.

I do feel like certain movies benefit from being seen in IMAX. It's just too bad most of those movies aren't movies that I would feel compelled to go out to watch. Like if I was to go out to watch PR, I'd probably go to IMAX. I never did though. I may go watch Cuarón's 'Gravity' cause the trailer looked like IMAX would make a big difference.
 
I can't remember how many times I've been to an IMAX, but I know I can count them on one hand. The first IMAX I went to was at the Denver Museum of Natural History, where I saw Special Effects: Anything Can Happen as part of a 5th grade field trip in 1997. I've also seen Space Station 3D, and one of the Harry Potter movies, though I can't remember which.
 
Only when it's been shot for IMAX.

Not worth paying $30 to see a film take up only 2/3 of the full IMAX screen. This is the same reason I won't be seeing Gravity in IMAX.
 
IMAX is the only thing that gets me into the theater. I prefer my home theater to anything less than IMAX.

I go about 4-5 times a year, depending on what's out. I preorder my tickets a week in advance, choose my assigned seating, and usually make a day of it with the wife. It makes going to see a movie an "event" again.
 
Except for maybe that one time I got dragged along to watch Harry Potter, I don't really watch anything or think that I have to watch something specifically in IMAX. Reasons being it's in the city, it's expensive and it seems to be packed whenever there are things actually worth watching.
 
I go to the IMAX maybe two or three times per year. For the most part regular theaters or blu-ray is fine, but I love seeing the big releases in IMAX. This year I saw Star Trek Into Darkness and Jurassic Park in IMAX, and they were both worth it.
 
Not one near me and never been to one.

As it is, I have to drive over 30 miles to get to a decent theater. Prices have gotten so expensive I don't go at all anymore. I think the last time I went was about 2 years ago.
 
If the movie is enhanced for Imax then yeah. When I went to see Skyfall the picture was actually bigger than my theaters screen, I think they were showing the Imax version by accident(or on purpose I dont know). The picture was overflowing onto the non screen area and curtains. It was sorta distracting and I wish I saw it in Imax.
In the case of the Hobbit I wanna see it in 3D but not in 48fps, so I'll be seeing that in Imax for desolation of smaug.

Prometheus trilogy and the next Nolan movies are also likely to have Imax enhanced scenes.
 
The next time I go to an IMAX is for Catching Fire as all the area sequences are shot in IMAX.

Our IMAX is in Glasgow had a 15/70 mm projector and has been taken down and replaced with IMAX Digital but Cineworld (the operator) are partnering with IMAX to install the new 4K system in due course.

In LA there are a few legit IMAX screens and I only see "event" movies in them. I remember seeing The Dark Knight every week for like 3 weeks at The Bridge (now called Rave Pictures 18 or something). I saw Pacific Rim at the IMAX at the Santa Anita mall and it held up okay, even though it's not a true IMAX.
 
It's around $20 a ticket for an evening show at the local IMAX. My fiancee and I would have to pay $40 for a 2-hour night out. So, we haven't gone at all (though we've both been many years ago for science-related films). We instead spend that $40 on DVD rentals from Redbox or various online video-on-demand places; the $40 pretty much lasts us the entire year for rentals with as few movies as we watch.
 
About 2-3 times a year depending on how many films are actually shot with IMAX as those are the only films i'll go see at the IMAX
 
I went to the Dark Knight in IMAX and from that experiance I will never go again.

The extra real estate was ok for the shots that were filmed, but it was jarring going back and forth for parts that were unfilmed. My biggest problem though was the sound level they had going was beyond crazy. I can normally handle loud things very well, but the explosions were ear ringing to the point everybody in the theater I saw cringe when one was coming. It was physically uncomfortable for like 2 hours because of it.
 
Never. There's only a single IMAX theater in Sweden, and it's in Stockholm. I'm in Gothenburg, so that's quite a ride to take (about 470 km/292 miles) just to watch a movie on a larger screen.
 
Whenever it's possible, but only true IMAX. None of that plebe, fake shit.
 
Fairly often. The local IMAX is actually just about the same price as a regular movie ticket. Thanks, Jordan's Furniture in MA. They recently switched to digital though...
