Hey guys,

I wasn’t sure if it was the most appropriate place to post this (Toma said it was cool), but I recently released a trailer for a game I have been working on that is in the works. It’s a Digital Card Game, but it’s also what I would consider a Tactical Card Game because card placement is much more important than most card games.

I was trying to use the trailer to really show people what makes it different from other card games and I believe the art style is pretty different from what’s out there. Of course since it’s so early there will be a lot more polish in the final version, but yeah, just let me know what you think.

Thanks!

(It's being developed with an eventual physical release in mind.)

Hey, how's things looking for Fotonica right now? I guess since it was submitted to greenlight first it would still have to get passed through, but after the big 100 buffer cleaner did that put you guys any closer to getting it on?

After the 100 being greenlit Fotonica is now #53 on Greenlight, so there is a possibility if they accept another 100 :D

I always thought that Fotonica is well known and quite popular - I don't even want to know, how far are the other games I wish to see on Steam, bummer.

Tale of Tales has just announced a new game called An empty World. The bad news is the game is planned for 2015 - this will be a painful wait.

There’s a fantastic line-up of people working on An Empty World. Jessica Curry, the composer of Dear Esther, is providing music, Vicki Wong is the concept artist and is a renown artist in her own right, Laura Smith is providing the animation as she has been for Tale of Tale for the past 9 years, and game environment artist Marie Lazar will be providing the modelling.

Got another gift card:
Aces Wild or Risk of Rain?

I haven't played Risk of Rain for months and months and months, but I remember it being good. There was a bit of a problem in that often levels would come up that were literally impossible to beat due to the density and positioning of enemies. That's such a big issue that I can't imagine they haven't hammered it out yet, but I would still poke around for some info to make sure. Other than that, I loved the actual gameplay with the variety of classes and items.

From what I've read, Aces Wild is good, but it doesn't have a huge breadth of gameplay diversity. Essentially, what you see is what you get. So, if you like what you've seen in the trailers and gameplay videos (anime aesthetic, frenetic brawler gameplay), I'd go with that. And if not, RoR.

Looks interesting, the wait will be long but at least we'll have tons of indie games to take our time. xD

SPAAAACE!

Can't wait to get my hands, eyes and ears on Eleven.

A propos space, RymdResa is shaping up to be something really unique.

Teaser

Space is big, empty and silent. Your role as a spaceship pilot is unclear. You know a few coordinates to some random locations; but this is the only information you have. You're alone, but you can communicate with other players via radio transmission, if they are at the same location in space that is.

  • Thumb-stick controllers
  • Real-time communication system.
  • Several different ships.
  • A beautiful and restricted color-pallet.
  • Randomized content.
  • Awesome Pixel art.
  • Poetry.
  • Interactive story.
  • Voice acting

My vote goes to Risk of Rain.
Definitely this. I have been following the game since the first day of their Kickstarter and the amount of gameplay related stuff (the class diversity is really nice) they have been adding is great. They are also adding online co-op even though they never promised it before which is a really awesome (and big) update.

That looks like potentially my kind of game. I've always liked the concept of any game displaying space as the empty void hell abyss that is actually is.

The way you can communicate with other players only through radio transmissions, only intensifies the sense of lonesomeness.

Brothers is so good, you guys. It's everything I want in a video game.

Short length: It took me about three hours to finish. But there's replay value if you want achievements.

Emotional story: Pretty sad game overall with very little happiness but there is a feeling of hope throughout it.

Beautiful graphics: So many times I just stood there and admired the visuals. I should have gotten some screenshots.

Very nice. I'm a big fan of their work so I always get excited when they announce a new game.

I can't wait for PixelJunk Inc (Steam/PC). It's a co-op (couch/online) soup making sim. Yeah. It sounds awesome.

Here are some new videos and impressions from PAX: Polygon shows a bit here and wrote up a piece. The guys from Destructoid talk about their experiences with the demo here.

I hope they put it up on Early Access and throw everything they can think of at us. I'm down.

Pros:

+ Soup
+ Programmable Robots
+ Soup
+ Hoverboards
+ Lasers Sword things
+ Open Sandbox World

Cons:

- I can't play it yet.
- / + I kinda want soup now.

Time to take a deep breath and continue.
So many good indie games coming out! How will I have time for all of this :(

Anyway, we are starting pre-sales next week on our own website and I am preparing all the materials for placing the game on Steam Greenlight as well as setting up later for Desura and GOG etc.
The trailer and intro for the game is taking up a lot of work since it is all in pixel art. We are now trying to spread the good word before it all starts :)

Here are a couple of gifs of the two main characters (original 64x64 size!)

bot_talk.gif

Each character has at least a walk, talk, idle and special and the main characters have all sorts of special reactions, like laughing or calling the taxi.
The shadow goes in as a separate sprite.

I love the animation of his big, floppy hat bouncing around. This is becoming one of the games I'm looking forward to the most. Hopefully the Greenlight process goes smoothly and the game is accepted quickly. I'll definitely be pre-ordering next week!

Any more thoughts on Aces Wild or Risk of Rain? I tracked down the demo (more of a really early build) of Aces Wild and it's wiild chaotic fun.

So it's either a crazy brawler that's a lot of fun but not the most depth and supporting an under the radar game or a tense action roguelike with tons of stategic depth and potential of future content

I could add Race The Sun and Mobiloid into the mix but I'll just keep it at Aces and Risk for now.

Hmmmm, I would go with Risk of Rain. Aces Wild is cool but I always feel a little detached from the action when I play it and I find myself getting bored fairly rapidly. I haven't played RoR for a bit now, but I remember really enjoying it when I did.

I just finished Brothers, what a fantastic game. I can't say much without spoiling the experience, but the way the story and the mechanics combine... magnificent.

Try the demo for One Finger Death Punch (if you haven't already). It is SO addictive
It's already out on XBIG, coming to PC later this year

Those abstract visuals got me innterested in the game, but I don'y know much else about. What is the game about?

You are a traveler exploring the space and uncovering mysteries of the game, with a help of other players, which according to the description is needed to fully unravel the story. I just started, so it's actually hard to tell exactly what's going on.

Yeah, that's a good summary. I think I've made some progress into the story as I got to another white screen with some narrative like what is shown at the beginning. I still feel lost but that's part of the joy with this kind of game. It really does feel overwhelming but in a good way.

Can't wait to encounter this.

Btw, how many planets did you take in your possesion:D

CheesecakeRecipe

Stormy Grey
Up to 8 stars named so far, can't remember all of them off the top of my head but

VITUS
CRSTNE
CATYUE

are ones I do recall.

Didn't get to sit down with it until late tonight and i'm impressed that the universe is currently sitting at 60% completed. Not even the end of the first day!

I'm still trying to get my first... I've been doing it wrong I guess!

I've found that the farther away you get from the starting area the more stars there are available for renaming. Look for the ones with names like "YCT/345," they have random letters and numbers.

So Mirrormoon EP is something like a game where you travel through space while trying to uncover new planets, but there are also planets in your game that have been discovered and named by other players? Out of curiosity, is there more to it than that?

It already sounds way more interesting than what the vague screenshots and smaller description on steam led me to think it was. Probably should have read the larger description on the page I guess. lol

I'll have to pick this up before the 11th.
