I dunno, Gibbo always tweets about industry stuff in Japan. And he live-tweets Nintendo investor meetings and such.

well its just had its biggest ever software launch

250K is equal to the 3DS LL launch, or early holiday season weeks in terms of 3DS sell-through.

It's an incredible amount of hardware to push during that time. If Monster Hunter can really sell that much 3DS consoles, it would be fantastic.

MH3G helped 3DS break records, so MH4 pushing at least 250k is quite possible.

The 387K / 510k that MH3G helped achieve for the 3DS was also during the holiday season, so it will be interesting to see the effect of a Monster Hunter release on the 3DS during a normal sales period.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was also following up on Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.
Can't exactly give it all the credit.

true it was in the holidays but also if I remember right severely undershipped leading so potentially far more copies could have been sold and potentially even more hardware

On a related note, the disparity between OG and LL sales is insane. In previous weeks, we've been looking at around a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio. Suddenly it's 1:5.

for comparision purposes:

MHP3 in its first five days
01. / 00. [PSP] Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (Capcom) {01/12/10} - 1.950.717 / NEW

Hardware was 325K

Wow. Software sales easily passed that in 5 days (especially if you include digital), and hardware almost definitely did too.

Which makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

We're talking about an audience that's heavily 16-25 here, so they have a lot more disposable income to work with.

How much of a difference makes tracking 2 days instead of 4-5? 100k-150k copies?
slightly more than that for a franchise that opens up at >2M

Fastest selling MH so far then isn't it?
without a doubt.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

Extremely good sales! Famitsu data includes download cards am I right? So Capcom's press release of 2 million would be sales and not shipments as they most likely included Direct Eshop sales correct?

also needs to mention that
MHP3 was released at December 10 (holiday season)
so the mh4 sales numbers are really impressive

Holy crap at both.

300k! I doubt Nintendo expected that much hardware movement.

Are there 3DS temp "shortages" in Japan?

Very strong sales, I'm curious about its download card sales, we will have to wait for Media Create numbers.
