POLYGON: Dead Rising 3's TGS demo shows framerate locked at 30fps

http://www.polygon.com/2013/9/20/47...-demo-shows-fixed-framerate-and-co-op-freedom

"If you saw it at Gamescom, we got a new drop from Microsoft literally that week, so you're seeing optimizations happening right now," Jones said. "We're in the midst of beta and final optimizations and polish — absolutely, we've got the game frame-locked at 30."

Even when hordes of zombies grew massive, and the means of their disposal became flashier and gorier, the demo didn't experience the same framerate drops seen at Gamescom. What's more impressive is that the game's latest demo also showcased how co-op play would work in the series' next installment — even with two players chewing through groups of zombies, the framerate stayed smooth.

Looks like good news for DR3 fans!

Well thank god!

Good. This is one of those games (like GTA) where I tend to get distracted from "missions".

I foresee a lot of screwing around with these zombies in my future.

Does anyone know on which resolution this game runs?

topic: 30 fps locked is much better than this SHIIAAT they showed at gamescom. Too bad the game isn't multiplatform.

This is good news, relative to the fact that it was struggling with frames before.

Still it overall seems a little disappointing that the game, which IMO looks like an up-ressed current gen game, is only 30 FPS

I would hope that a game that look this bad would be able to hit 30 FPS on a Next Gen Console.

Dat CPU upclock?! Jk, it's great to see this game finally got off the ground with its issues. Between this and Deep Down, maybe Capcom is starting to look competent again?

Let's just ignore the scale, the number of zeds on screen and the fact that there's no loading after the initial load and just focus on a poorly selected screen.

Jesus, you're normally a sensible poster too. What happened?

Will need to see videos of this for myself.

I remain sceptical they'll have managed to eliminate frame rate drops completely, and if they have... well, that'll be a first for the series :)

My hype is locked at 0fps.

Then why bother posting?

Back on topic it seems that the help from MS really improved things on performance. :)

According to some guys at Beyond3D the game most likely uses dynamic resolution.

Well I seen this last night & it looked really bad too me, so I was pointing it out that it should be expected to run a game that look this way on a Next Gen Console at 30 FPS.

I hope so, but I'm almost certain a game like this will have drops.

And people have made a lot of assumptions about framerates in the past, which haven't turned out to be true.

Journos don't know shit about framerate or what is smooth, sometimes can't tell that a 30fps is not 60fps. And Capcom is just saying what they have to say.

Well, this game is my killer app for the Xbone, so glad to hear they're ironing out the technical issues. Looking forward to some zombie slaughter in November, for sure.

This is great news. Even if they had to sacrifice on on effects or total zombie count it wil be more than worth it to have a steady framerate. Smart decision by the team.

Next gen coming and we are celebrating that a game has achieved 30fps. At times it just doesn't feel like a whole new console generation is coming.
