Lone Survivor: Director's Cut is the PS3 & Vita (cross-purchase and cross-save confirmed) touch-up on last year's Psychological Horror Adventure indie game that is more than a simple love letter to Silent Hill and David Lynch. The Director's Cut includes new areas, new items, new dialogue, new endings, as well as a New Game + mode and a lot of added hidden secrets, and tweaks, changes, and improved lighting.

Confirmed to be running at a stunning 60 FPS at 90p!

Game is releasing on September 24th, and a PC version is in TBA territory, but it has been said some content will be exclusive to the PS3/Vita version.

Price hasn't been mentioned yet, but $10-15 is a safe bet, though it has been confirmed Plus Members will get a discount.

This was one of my favorite game of last year as well as one of my favorite soundtracks of the year. I may just buy this Director's Cut on PS3 rather than waiting for it to appear on PC.

Yeah I've been waiting for this one. Cant wait to play it. I've seen some lets plays and demos of it and I've always been interested.

So EU Release on Wednesday?

Looks really interesting and I have heard good things, but I always loose interest in adventures after an hour. This looks like it could keep my interest.

I was waiting for this game and didnt see this coming. Stealth annoucement? I am glad to play to finally play this on my Vita.

Just a few misc things, Jasper says on his twitter he'll be doing some Competitions after launch for some exclusive Lone Survivor merch. Also it's been noted on the title screen there are five tiles now that fill as you get the game's five endings, though when you get them all it is not known if anything will happen, but as Jasper says he's excited for people to find some of the hidden secrets he's put in the DC...

So, just a quick question, and the answer isn't really significant as I'm buying it regardless of the answer. Looks incredible. But does the game actually manage to be scary at all, with the 2D sprite-based graphics?

Got the original through the humble bundle. Easily among my favorite games of last year. Can't believe a 2D game did horror better than almost everything from the major publishers this gen.

Got it from some Humble bundle I think, but now I will actually play it thanks to the Vita version.

Is the PS+ discount confirmed for both EU and NA?

Audio is always MUCH more important than visuals when it comes to horror, in pretty much every medium.

Great game. Surprisingly spooky and unsettling. I was surprised by how creeped out I got playing this in the dark and with headphones on (the way it should be played).

Really enjoyed this game but I will admit I also felt the end dropped the ball way too much. It's okay to have a non-conclusive or unsettling ending, but not a non-satisfactory one. Both endings were...meh. Just vague without being thought-provoking or interesting, especially considering everything that was handled so well up to that point.

Intrigued to see this new endings to see if they can tie off an otherwise great game.

My brother hardly played on his Vita since he got it, gonna force him to play this game if the price is right for me >=)

Been waiting for this to come to the Vita for ages. Once it finally does get a release date, it completely passes me by. Looking forward to playing it this Wednesday, but I'll have to try and complete GTA V before then.

I enjoyed playing through it, I'll revisit the game if the new content is released for PC. The Orange Ending was actually meant to be a free update to the PC version, Jasper Byrne then decided to release it as Vita exclusive content instead (at least for the time being).

New Game + intrigues me (it's a mode I miss from most games these days), I am not sure how that would work in this game since it's pretty linear and you have no stats / upgrades really.

I'm working off memory, but as ending data is saved now it might have something to do with that. Also recall that New Game + adds some additional content in a second Playthrough.

Buying it as soon the store updates. Been waiting for it. Hell, I got it from Humble Bundle V last year and still waited.

I read in a blog update the other day that he asked Sony to let him disable trophy notifications during play to keep player's immersed, and make it so they don't pop on screen until the game is finished or put on hold with the PS button. Something like that. Thought it was kinda cool.

Actually even cooler than that, the game has a day system where you go to bed and sleep to save, and not sleeping increases your characters tiredness and gets hungry faster. Sleeping too much also affects your character, though. When you sleep is when the game rewards you trophies you've collected. (Thought it was cool they thought of this and Sony let them as well)

EU release on Tuesday according to Curve and Shahid, which is strange but awesome!

Looking forward to this one :)

Ah that's what it was... I was confusing that sleep function for the Vita's sleep mode, and then confusing it for tabbing out of a game when I was trying to remember it.

That is better.

The hunger/tired system is a bit unique for a horror game like this, so no worries not quite getting it. You collect various things in the abandoned world to use in the apartment you call home.

For any Hotline Miami fans, the creator of this game was responsible for some of that game's best tracks!

Yes. In a proper horror way, though, like Amnesia. No jump scares here. It's the kind of thing where every aspect of the game drips with negativity and morbidity.

It also kind of sags in the middle. At least I thought so. I'd really like to play it with some extra polish and new content.

Day 1!

how long is this game?

i got it from a humble bundle but for some reason its hard for me to play games with m+k unless its a point and click old school game.

i know ill dive in now that i have a dpad though!

No. Survival horror that happens to be 2D. The action elements are about the same as you'd find in a Silent Hill game. A bit of slow shooting. Mostly walking from place to place avoiding enemies, collecting items, and solving puzzles.

Is it open world?

What kind of game is this? Platformer?
Think of it like classic survival-horror game in 2D with adventure game and life sim elements. You are possibly the lone survivor in a world ridden with disease, staying in an apartment and going a bit further each day to scavenge supplies. Your character gets tired and hungry, which he notifies by talking about it. You collect food, items ranging from comics to kettles to use in your apartment, to ammo and batteries to survive, but everything in the game is limited and scarce. There are enemies, exploring to do, and your characters mental state is in question as weird things begin to happen, and it becomes harder and harder to tell what is real, and what is a delusion.

The game is also a strong game about choice. Killing enemies or stealthing past, feeding your character or sleeping a lot, taking pills that give you buffs but have side effects, and other stuff changes your characters state slowly, and changes the ending path you're going down. Choice is a big part of Lone Survivor, an there's always multiple ways to tackle situations to survive.

The original game was about 4-5 hours long the first time, but could be beat in 2 if you knew what to do. Not sure how much longer the additional content will add.

As said, it isn't full-on open world, but there are open-world elements, and without spoiling specifics, one of the later environments in the game has some strong open-world tendencies.

One of my most beloved games of all time... yet I still haven't finished it.
Going to correct that mistake soon. Damn you backlog

If anyone's on the fence I highly, highly recommend it especially if you're a Silent Hill fan.

I got the Steam game from a Humble Bundle, but have yet to play it. I'll definitely be picking this up and playing it on my Vita. I probably won't buy it tomorrow, though.

I kinda really love this game but I also really wish it did some things better. Managing food and stuff just got really annoying along with all the lol sanity stuff. But yeah I think I'll pick this up.

It's already up on the EU store. No PS+ discount to be seen right now though and the price is set at €12.99, which is a 1:1 price conversion. Many digital releases this year had much better exchange rates, don't know why they feel the need to ripoff Europeans again with the last few download titles :/

P.S.: Have fun waiting for Grace Chen :P
