Media Create Sales: Week 38, 2013 (Sep 16 - Sep 22)

Thanks. Have there been reports of how well the online works?

We weren't a fan of the Wii incarnation haha. It was awful.
Streamers who imported the game said the netcode is amazing(especially considering they live in US while using Japanese servers)

Getting online is easy too apparently. Just press the icon that has a globe on it and there are 3 options

You can probably go in the ot and get more details on it tho

Well, while the 360 wasn't popular in Japan, it did get tons of PS3 multiplats due to the West.

Square Enix was noting one of the reasons they keep doing iOS FF games is due to worldwide performance as well, but that is probably a much smaller concern for DQ.

I think we might see a hint of this if iOS Theatrhythm 2 mysteriously shows up at the same time Theatrhythm goes West, given it didn't do so hot in the West on 3DS last time.

Not sure 360 would be a worthwhile place for Dragon Quest even in the West. PlayStation brand seems better suited to fans of Japanese games as it is. Mobile/3DS seems much more viable for that franchise. Final Fantasy's had a Western presence for much longer, it's a recognizable name wherever it goes.

Also if mobile resulted in more DQ games being localized, and it maintained the same standards of quality I would be completely down for it. Games like DQ are the perfect type of games to be on mobile devices and yet the cheap cash ins have soured many people on the concept.

There's no way it's near 3 million even with digital with the stock issues unless there was a large new shipment recently.
They shipped around 500k second week no? Another 500k would be enough to release a 3M PR.

Oh and Amazon expects the next shipment to arrive on Oct 4.

Nintendo is a mess for this. I bet they are using cards to make more Pokemon games.

Selling initial shipment race:

07./04. [PS3] JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle # <FTG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.08.29} (¥7.980) - 7.750 / 441.851 (around 60.000 units in stock)
09./06. [3DS] Mario & Luigi: Dream Team # <RPG> (Nintendo) {2013.07.18} (¥4.800) - 7.668 / 315.881 (around 80.000 units in stock)
24./20. [PS3] Lost Planet 3 <ACT> (Capcom) {2013.08.29} (¥6.990) - 2.423 / 48.785 (around 35.000 units in stock)

Another game that is in that race is Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin III - Pride of Justice. Media Create says 115k copies were shipped first week, but the PS3 one left the top 20 with 47k, guessing ~55k sold by now; the Vita one left the top 20 with 19k, guessing ~25k by now. With all the guesses, that would be 35k left in stock, and with both versions outside the top 50...

Some 3rd party retailers on Amazon are offering discount of 60% or more. (Too bad there are no pictures for online bomba bin =P)

considering Capcom only expected to ship 2.8 million by the end of the financial year its fair to assume that its not Nintendo's fault its Capcom's for not ordering enough

I think you should list this since the pts=sales thing always comes up....

But it's already there...

A lot of people just have a problem with devoting time to read anything on the internet. And the more explanation you add, the lower the chances someone will read what you wrote. =P

I think she could add "stores" to the header, though.

(Same for Mpl90, every time you do the pre-order comparison, don't just throw the numbers. Not everybody reads this thread every day.)

Edit: Oh I'm dumb. I somehow missed the "1 pt. = 1 sale." I'm not sure how I overlooked, but I'm sorry for the redundancy guys.

pre-order and post-release sales at one chain of retailers.

Every pt is literally one sale at COMG! stores.

Thanks. Just one sale? Wow. Well at least Kiseki seems to be doing relatively well for its IP in that sample.

Amazon Vita ver.

Amazon PS3 ver.

Price slashes and 1 star reviews. Falcom may have done more damage to themselves than being sandwiched between MH4 and Pokemon.

18% is not really a price slash (although it is literally slashed on the site). It's a normal discount (for games that are not sold-out, that is).

And I can already tell what the 1 star reviews complain about before even reading them: "3 hour loading time"

Is there a pervious week to know how much 56pt translates to in sales roughly?

EDIT:
Looking back through previous threads the points don't really tell you anything definite saleswise.

3 hours, what!?

Wii U Sad News:

Zelda - 56pt (?)

Pikmin ------------- 144pt (92.720)
Dragon Quest --- 35pt (33.302)
Luigi ----------------- 33pt (24.881)
Wario --------------- 32pt (22.491)
Lego ----------------- 40pt (18.199)

They are Amazon reviews, everything is hyperbolic and augment 1000 times. =P

The reviews are saying they're around 10-20 seconds, from what I've read in the 1 star review range. They seem to be disappointed fans.

Honestly, after this and RE Revelations on the 3DS, I don't think the argument that "cartridges = no load times" can really be made. The PSP games never had this problem.

This isn't helping to know how much it will be. We at least know it's not going anywhere near 100k or 90k. But I'm not sure I expected it to. If it does above 55K, that'd be fine for now.

At least now you know how useless the comparison of sales using the points are.

There doesn't seem to be any formula to it - which makes sense, look at StreetsAhead's post. That's why Comgnet comparisons are generally made between games in the same series.

Is Japan getting the Ganon statue? I don't think they will. Something like that will help drive sales among the hardcore.

a 10 years old game remake full priced for a not popular brand in Japan will never sell well, i don't understand why people would expect great numbers from it...

Anyone who considers getting the limited edition of a game would have bought the regular one anyway.

to be fair, there are some people on GAF buying the Ganondorf LE who don't even own a Wii U. I know that's insignificant, but just sayin' :p
