Early user impressions:

I beta tested this and it's very cool. Even after all the testing I'll be picking this up later today.

This is a cool little game. I've been looking for something like this to offset some of the serious games I've been playing lately. I like the physics and the graphics are pretty nice. I think the intro video is hilarious. My only gripe would be the constant update toward the accomplishments that flashe on screen and the word "development build" in the lower right corner. I know it's barel noticeable, but it should be removed. Nice job dev(s).

I've played it too and it's amazing. And with a price of $0.99, this game is a total steal.

99 cents for a limited time!

Does BG:EE work well on the iPad mini? And has it ever been on sale?
Considering to double dip, so I can have saves ready for BG2:EE.

edit:
And is there the alt key for showing things from the pc version?

It worked fine on my mini, no issues (especially after the door clicking fix).

No idea about the second bit.

Ok, thanks, that sounds good at least!

Oh, and I mixed up the key with diablo, I meant the tab-key, highlighting objects and loot.
Seems like there's a "hint"-key in the iPad version, so looks good!

Nothing consistent. But certain single player levels will give you 50 coins as a prize. When you click on a level, it will scroll through the prizes available. You can just keep grinding that level until you get lucky.

Also, you can get some in the PVP ladders, if you accrue so many points, 100 coins are a prize. You missed out on the weekend ladder, but you can still get it in the regular PVP ladder.

Also, if you get an excess of cards, they go into queue. They will have a 7 day timer for which to claim them before they disappear. Pretty fair way to do it.

Thanks. I figured out a lot about hte game after making my question post. I was focusing too much on the events and not on leveling.

Tips for people that might pick it up. Only use your IO for leveling up or possibly buying new monsters for the common Covers. You'll get plenty of them early on from farming. Use the coins for the additional box space.

I feel Simogo's Device6 is imminent.

As per their twitter, they submitted a version of the game some weeks ago (2?) and today they will make an announcement.

Personally I can't wait.

EDIT: 17 October!!!!!

Feel free to ask.

I'll pray Sigmar when in the temple, may He protect your heroes :p

It seems like the drops are much better in hardcore mode. Although my starting dwarf guy seems to suck on this level too!

Do you think they will have character sales at some point?

Also, when you get randomly injured from an event in town, whats to stop me from entering a dungeon and immediately leaving so the effect goes away?

Cavorite 3 is releasing tonight
http://youtube.com/watch?v=5L6h7TjdI-8
We've introduced a lot of new things into the Cavorite universe, including the ability to fill or drain water, cavorite-washing gas, quicksand, jetpacking selenites, and more. There are now three collectibles in the game, translating into over 130 Game Center. achievements. And the story panels have been updated to use HD cartoon art of the same style as DrCavor.com.

Uh, does "Quit" in Sword & Sworcery EP actually mean "Erase your save and start over from the beginning."?

That sucked.

I have no clue, but being a Games Workshop franchise, I wouldn't count in it.
Which character are you looking at?

Also, when you get randomly injured from an event in town, whats to stop me from entering a dungeon and immediately leaving so the effect goes away?

Nothing but your pride.
A true hero wouldn't ever do such a thing :p
(besides...where is the challenge then?)

I went in a dungeon with broken ribs, torn legaments, even plague!!!
Never had so much fun :)

Yesterday I survived a dungeon when I was ambushed 16 times (16!!!!!).
I cursed Rodeo Games so many times I bet Santa won't bring them any present next Christmas.
I was sweating, thought MANY times it was my last turn alive...in the end I survived using ALL my stash and every possible skills.
I felt a true hero when I emerged in the daylight with a super cool legendary cape for my Waywatcher.
Plus about 80K exp point each :) (I capped everyone).
It was GLORIOUS.

One thing is really really pissing me off tough, being a shield lover, is that I find a TON of cool shields (even Bretonnian shields, my fav miniature!!!!) for the IronGut...NOTHING for my beloved Marauder.

Anyone else playing Marvel PQ? Seems like they pushed out an update today that dramatically changed a lot of the hero powers. Wanted to find a changelog somewhere but can't seem to locate one

Picked up Monster Adventures, Type:Rider, and Duet. I'll post impressions throughout the night

Duet
From Kumobius, the developers behind Time Surfer and Bean's Quest, comes Duet. It's a simple name that mirrors its minimalist aesthetic and challenging co-dependent gameplay.

Across nine stages (each separated into a number of waves) as well as an endless mode, you control a pair of spheres, one blue, one red, forever linked. Holding the sides of the screen rotates the duo clockwise or counter-clockwise around the circumference of their circle, allowing you to dodge the increasingly difficult waves of obstacles. Duet is not as twitchy as a game like Super Hexagon and feels more like a fast paced puzzle game as you learn the correct pattern to avoid each obstacle.

Duet's minimal style works extremely well. The contrast between your spheres and the environment means you're always aware of your position and each failure leaves colored splat where you hit. Not only does this is visually cool, it's a reminder of how and where you made a mistake, helping you improve. The game even has a slight Thomas Was Alone vibe, thanks to the lines of dialogue that appears on the screen that provide Duet with a slight narrative thread

Type:Rider
I've never seen level designs quite like those in Type:Rider. While the platforming and basic aesthetic may owe a lot to games like Limbo and NightSky, Cosmografik has developed a fantastic game with a style all its own.

You control a colon, which function as a pair of wheels, and travel through the timeline of typography from the earliest cave paintings to the computerized pixels of today. Each of the game's nine worlds is stylized around a font, from the origins of writing to Gothic and Garamond and beyond, with their own atmosphere and themed obstacles. Yet at the same time, the fonts and their history are the levels. You'll travel across the pages of the Gutenberg Bible, work your way through the innards of moving type and letter press, around and under the swampy world of italics, and more. Backgrounds are collages of information pertaining to the current font and you'll unlock pages that deliver short historic lessons about a font's usage, important figures of the time period, and other typographical elements. Each world is filled with collectibles to find, some harder to reach than others, which offers some replay value as well.

The game's controls are just as well designed as its overall aesthetic. I found the intuitive scheme the best, since it's simple \and unobtrusive (hold either side to move in that direction, tap to jump) but the game also offers buttons and tilt controls. Type:Rider is a game crafted with style and atmosphere in every aspect, from the wonderful surreal landscapes of fonts to platform and puzzle through to the menus designed as a series of books to flip through.

No idea, maybe a melee dude. It's hard to choose without knowing what the new spells/skills do!

I would say all classes are pretty balanced, each one with pros and cons.
I think the best melee class is the Marauder, expecially at higher levels.
I would pick up iap characters as I would pick up new Games Workshop miniatures...ie the class I always dreamed to play/paint/look at.
Do you like dwarves?
Assemble a party with both an Ironbreaker and Trollslayer.
Orcs? Get the Irongut.
Elves? Pick up a Waywatcher and Shadow Warrior.
And so on...discover their perks playing, or you can google the Warhammer Quest Class and get an idea of the skills (there is plenty of databases in the net).

Personally I want the Bretonnian Knight because that's the class I always played in the original boardgame.
If Rodeo will provide it, he will replace the Ironbreaker.
In Averland I already found two Bretonnian shields (only for the Irongut, damn!!!!).

Hrm. So many options! I lost my starting Dwarf this morning when playing. Stupid spider! He was only level 2 though but he had a regen ring on! So I filled with another one. I can see how you would use more of the characters that you buy when on hardcode mode.

So, lets say you have 3 level 5 or 6 guys, and you start a new one at level 1. Is it tough for that guy to level up? Level 8 is max right? How long did it take you to max out your guys?

I agree, it is much better on hardcore. When playing on adventurer level, I really didn't have to worry too much because I knew my guy (with the regen ring!) would just be back when I finished the dungeon.

I must say I'm a bit pissed with Warhammer Quest. My party of level 5s and a 6 just got wiped out by a Zerg of random encounters in a regular dungeon. I swear, it was about 7 encounters in a row. I never got a chance to heal fully because every few turns a new group would pop up. By the time my party died there were 8 archers back in the hall just from the constant encounters...

I don't know if I have it in me to play again for a long while.

was that one good? hard to keep up with their stuff. I recall this one was a bit mario rpg ish right?

Yes, Costume Quest comes highly recommended from most who play it, way more so than The Cave, or even most of their other recent games. Strange it was such a stealth release, perhaps a mistaken release meant to come out later? Then again, Halloween is just a few weeks away. Wonder if it includes the Grubbins on Ice expansion... looks like they do, as DLC.

Wow, Costume Quest is a nice surprise. Any impressions on the iOS release? Always meant to pick it up on PC but this might do just fine.

Downloading now. I always play this game once a year near Halloween. So great

Be sure to let us know how it plays on iOS!

Yes level 8 is the cap (for now).
The 'real' cap (the boardgame) is 10...I guess we will hit it with the next expansion...when the backstory will be wrapped up I guess.
To level up a character fast...just babysit him till all enemies are down to low HPs...have him strike the killing blow (only chars with the KILL strike earn exp).
The enemy packs are tailored to the medium level of the party...so even one enemy will be enough to level up in the first levels (1-4).
Be aware that, as per game mechanics, you can level up once per dungeon (because you must train in a city to actually level up and 'extra' XP are lost...this is to familiarize to eventual new skills you acquired), so to get from 1 to 8 you must do, at the bare minimum, 8 dungeons (so plenty of loot to dress up your new character).

I agree, it is much better on hardcore. When playing on adventurer level, I really didn't have to worry too much because I knew my guy (with the regen ring!) would just be back when I finished the dungeon.

Hardcore is a totally different game, the game I remember playing in my youth.
It's not only hardcore...before the last update even hardcore was super easy imho...now difficulty is just perfect imho.
You are ALWAYS on the edge...every turn something can go wrong...NEVER EVER enter a dungeon if not fully prepared (stash, slots and all).
Plus this kind of games only shines in difficulty...if everything is too easy it's just boring imho, never using skills or having real threats (not to mention never seeing diversity between chars).

Speaking of the game loot, I've noticed that once at cap you seem to unlock all sort of super cool legendary items that, while not easy to get, are really fantastic.
Just found a super cool looking black chainmail for my marauder...he is sooooo cool and has now a7 base attacks, often 10 when in rage, plus the insta-blow when entering a new room.
He is a killing machine (about 140-200 HP per turn in damage if well postitioned, not counting the Blade spell!!!) ....still that damn Amber Mage knocked him down in ONE TURN!!!

Weird, WHQ seems bugged, combat sounds are really quiet and my SW can't mele now for some reason (not pinned)...

Edit, sound bug is just the ipad mini, phone seems fine. Just WHQ though, strange as it was working last night, no sound now on impact of mele / arrows.

Speaking of Double fine, is Middle Manager of Justice impossible towards the end game? I have all 4 of my heroes fully upgraded, top end meteors, top of the line equipment, and supply of fully stocked powerups and bonus items. Yet I barely scratch the final bosses and after several turns the villians just stop on my heroes, wiping out all their health, and win. I loved the game until now.

Personally I have not the problem, but I read others mentioning that on TA, so I guess it's a bug.
If I recall well, an update addressing bugs is already in Apple hands or about to be submitted.

How is the Shadow Warrior?
Do you use the 'fire then walk' skill a lot?
Maybe it's just bad luck but I'm finding much more 'long corridors' dungeon in Averland...which are really nasty...so I tought it could be useful to fire then hide.
I never used him even back in the days and before trying the new bought characters I want to complete the game with my main team.

I'm not commuting right now, so I've dropped off the iOS gaming front somewhat. However, I have an iPhone 5S coming in the next couple of weeks.

Are there any nice games which take advantage of iPhone 5/5S graphics that aren't filled with Free To Play stuff?
Please don't recommend Infinity Blade, Real Racing, or anything Gameloft.

I hadn't seen anything on it, weird that it would be working one minute and not the next.

XCOM just got an update to include the second wave DLC, might not have specific improvements for the 5S, but general performance on the 5S should be better, and it's a legitimate game obviously.

On TA they state the expansion is included free of charge.

EDIT: iTunes text was apparently edited, and the DLC is not free it seems (just 2 dollars tough).

Going to be updating the OP later today with new releases/game updates, I'll be canvasing the last two pages (100PP go!) of the thread for stuff.

I see Costume Quest was just released, really cool!
