Most gamers will never even know unless they see a discrepancy between the two versions on metacritic. Ignorance is bliss.

I disagree so whole-heartedly.

What's with everyone thinking your average consumer is fucking retarded these days? We live in a crazy information age and money is tight. Most people at least semi-research a product before they drop 60 bones on it.

And if you look at your average CoD gamer, I can guarantee you they talk about the game to others and shoot the shit and news like this will definitely be brought up.

Why should a 1.3Tflop system be able to do CoD: Ghosts at 1080px60fps?

Of course any system can do any game at 1080px60fps, depending on how low you want to drop the graphic fidelity.

Hell I could run Battlefield 4 on my 5 year old system at 1080px60fps, of course I would have to drop pretty much everything to low settings, no AA, no nothing to do it.

But a 1.3Tflop system is pretty much a 7770. And those can't do much in the PC world 1080p x 60fps at Ultra/High.

I own the 6770 ( 78GB/s bandwidth, 1.28Tflop ) and have to put down most games to Medium/High if I want pure 60fps and that is 900p, not even 1080p. Tomb Raider has to be High settings, low tessellation, FXAA, etc. to keep 30+ fps throughout.

Like I posted before, the 7770 can't even do Call of Duty : Black Ops 2 @ 1080p x 60fps if you want the highest graphic fidelity and AA. Heck it can't even do sup 900p at the highest fidelity with AA in Black Ops 2.

Most gamers will never even know unless they see a discrepancy between the two versions on metacritic. Ignorance is bliss.

doesn't matter. Eurogamer will digital foundry the shit out of this game. We'll find out soon enough. I know I won't rest until everyone I know knows what resolution every game they play is at.

I suppose it's for people like that one guy on Twitter, and I'm sure there are others like him who have stuck with the XB1 due to brand loyalty.

With the all caps I assumed he was trying to drive his point home about this thread, the one we're posting in. If he meant "someone somewhere" then yeah, ok. People are eating styrofoam somewhere too but I don't see the reason to call them out in this thread. Plus styrofoam might be awesome, I wouldn't know.

Speaking from personal experience you should never get too attached to a brand. Always follow the games. You've missed out on some great ps3 games and I've heard that the ps4 controller has been improved considerably. Obviously not everyone has enough money to own every system, but if you can afford to and you genuinely love videogames never stick to just one system, when you do that's when you start to accept compromises that you shouldn't except from these manufactures just to justify your purchase.

What games you getting for X1?

Oh dude, if it was within my means I would have 40" Plasma TV, an Origin PC, a PS4, and a still functional N64. If I could afford to go where all the games are, I would I tell you what. I would mod the crap out of Skyrim and GTA V
(eventually, hopefully).
. But, still as it stands, out of all of the gaming systems big and small. The Xbox One is the one that I want the most due to a combination of brand "familiarity?" and exclusives. XB1 games I'm looking forward to include and are not limited to TitanFall (not a true exclusive I know, sue me), Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5(?), Dead Rising 3 and possibly Ryse but I'll do myself a favor and wait for some reviews and impressions first.

I feel like we are well beyond the point that someone from Microsoft / Infinity Ward / Activision should have made a comment on this...

This combined with Penello's complete non-response actually has me believing this more than anything else. I'm not getting either console at launch, but if it's actually true that they can't get goddamn CoD (which isn't a fantastic looking game graphically) running at 1080p on X1 but they can on PS4, that's a reallllll bad look for MS. Not in terms necessarily of this game specifically, but in what the fuck is going on over there and with the hardware.

Man these threads crack me up. Well done on the Nickelback gif.

I'm not going to convince anyone differently, but it's funny how people interpret the tweet as confirmation.

First - I don't know the resolution. I don't have more sophisticated tools than anyone else. I watch the game on a nice TV with the XBO set to 1080p for every game, there is no way for me to know what's native vs. upscaled unless I'm told.

Second, if I did know, it wouldn't be my place to say anything.

If the Ryse footage last week showed me anything, it's that you get a much more interesting discussion when you're looking at real footage.

So now I've seen the PS4 footage, and I've seen XBO running live. To me, they both look great.

The resolution will be what it will be. It will be known when Activision wants it to be known. The only thing I was curious about was if the games look different, and based on the assets available to me, they don't.

So I think when XBO footage comes out, and people can compare resolutions, effects, framerate and other things the debate will be more interesting.

All that doesn't come across in Twitter-sized bites.

My skeptical hat is still on.

That said, even if true, I just don't think it actually matters. To people saying this is bad news -- I think it's only bad news if you're someone who hates big forum threads.

For sales figures, I just don't see it mattering. In practice, games in 1080 look a bit sharper than 720 -- But most average consumers won't notice much if any difference, and simply won't care either way. Especially the COD demographic.

Neogaf is a few thousand people. These consoles are being marketed and sold around the globe to millions. The average neogaf user may go into a frothing rage over 720, but the average consumer does not care.

The non-denials are as good as a confirmation in my book. At the very least its definitely not native 1080p. Maybe 900p.

Whats most concerning about all these Xbox One performance / resolution issues is NO devs have come out to defend the hardware. I can really see Xbox One going for $299 by summer and Sony keeping $399 for awhile. Things are just landsliding on the Bone.

Seems likes lots of multiplatform devs are being very political about performance and resolutions. (ie. dont want to burn any bridges or sabotage sales).

Now, I don't know if that shows how poor the XB1's internals are or merely how shit IW is lol

Since we have literally nothing to go on besides a rumor that Famous himself is struggling to support and is claiming is super thin, I doubt they are worried. Had there been some kind of videos or physical evidence they would be trying to do damage control.

What is he trying to say!? Does he really enjoy Nickelback!? WHAT IS GOING ON.

think it is a play on his last tweet. Some people diss Nickelback without hearing them live ( i guess ), so he is saying go watch them live then judge.

Aka see Call of Duty live and then judge the X1 version. Aka low resolution confirmed, but still looks good in his opinion.

That will be the X1 mantra this gen I think. We can't do true 1080p in 2013, but atleast our games still look good!

Anyone find it amazing in about 3 years we will be PC gaming @ 4K at reasonable prices ( sub X1 prices ) and the X1 will be struggling along at 720-900p? .....

Nah. Unless you think that the people on GAF have been right every single time since it's inception and pitchforks were never raised without knowing all the details.

I'm trying to think about it from someone's perspective who only knows about NeoGAF when it's on the frontpage of Reddit

I am no Xbone lover at all but the sources for this are just too unreliable. Albert P might simply not know enough about the game's resolution to comment one way or the other. I'm a big skeptic, and I'm not buying it, because it's COD, not a graphical powerhouse. If it was 900p vs 1080p, it'd have more credibility with me.

Other insiders than Famous brought it up.

Well you were asking how COD looks bad...
I asked how the new IGN gane looks bad....not your personal opinion on the game itself.

I do think that Wargame video itself is a horrible preview of the game. Player sucks. AI matches are boring.

I'm skeptical but seriously how hard is it for someone to come out and confirm that it's 1080p? Especially since this would probably affect sales...

First time seeing this.

Jesus Christ, it looks awful.

yup.

Which says one thing: Why does Albert Penello think it looks f'ing awesome anywhere? Fuck da resolution debate... that shit is so grotesque anyone with eyes should vomit on the side of the road ;P

Oh, I meant game wise. 1 console dominating isn't bad when it comes to games. I have no idea how the forums were back then.

Ahh yes, but you still had the struggler DreamCast back then...then again we Have WiiU now.

And to be totally honest, we have fun as hell here with the WiiU during game nights. Boot up the projector and set it out and invite random stragglers to play some Mario or Mario kart for the Wii always fun that even the most drunk wanderer will instantly recognise Mario Kart and will want to play. We even get to use the cinema for it from time to time. And let me tell you this, nothing beats a night of Beer infused Mario Kart at the cinema.

Wasn't there a thread where Albert said he can't speak for the resolutions for 3rd party games? Thread went on for a while too. Why would that change now?

If you guys are gonna pressure anyone, press IW. Its like y'all forget raging in a thread two days ago.

That's actually a pretty fair point. If Titanfall actually is 720p all bets are off, but that's a good ways off. But if at launch there's a bunch of multiplatform games that run at a lower res on X1 than PS4 that's a problem.

Whoa, WELCOME!

It's nice that you're enjoying this craziness- but damn, it would be nice to have some confirmation from Microsoft or Activision. Meltdowns abound!

Bolded- that's awesome too. I hope that all multiplatform titles look/play equally well.

Also, when will XBO footage come out? Can y'all assuage some fears and put a video out?
