Liking Asylum so far, not that fond of these Scarecrow segments though, Bane fight was also kinda lame, and I thought I already took care of Zsasz. Bane better not return then.
The Bane fight is horribad.
Replayed a bit of asylum after it got de-gfwled and I had to try 10 times to get past the damn fight. The tight camera and the 50 billion enemies they throw at you don't mix.

Overall it's an interesting take on the series so far, the mini stories while quite action orientated does develop a characters persona quite quickly which I like to see. The added bonus is that it looks like the actions that were caused in previous incidents has a factor on the individual characters trust of others in the group. Hopefully this carries more weight in the full game.

Problems that irked me were some of the sterotypical typecast characters, not as bad as the Walking Dead game so it looks it was toned down a bit. The only other problem was that I was more interested in getting the details on how the playable characters merged into the group. Other than that it's a great DLC for people wanting to see what types of characters we may witness in season 2 of The Walking Dead.

Oh yeah, thanks to Toddhunter for gifting me the game!

Most of the "boss fights" are terrible in that game, they're too gimmicky and straight forward, the rest are great though.

Watching the Origins QL, man that Deathstroke fight is loooong as hell and it's just mash mash mash. Who thought it's a good idea?

The scare crow parts are cool as heck!

The first one was okay, but the second felt long.

Is Riddick really worth it? How long of a game is it?

It's one of the best games of 2004 imo. Great pacing and varied campaign, pretty meaty too I think. Haven't played it since its release though. And have yet to check out Dark Athena.

Glad to see that you liked the majority of the DLC. It felt a bit short for me but that was because I wanted more. Now let's wait for Season 2 and also, I want to play The Wolf Among Us.

Escape from Butcher Bay is an excellent game. Assault on Dark Athena is a decent sequel, hits some good points but ultimately has too many misses.

The former is one that everyone needs to experience.

I thought that fight was pretty good. It's long if you are mashing and don't know what you're doing.
Didn't watch the quick look, but I thought the fight was alright the second time around once you're aware of what you can do. Always feel insanely arbitrary as to when you can do specific stuff since there's either no tells or they change just because you're in a different stage of the fight.

Seeing that screenshot reminds me how much better TWAU's design choice of just having everything have a black outline looks.
Are Season 2 and TWAU handled by two different teams?
I believe Season 1 and TWAU had a lot of the same key people, but some of the bigger co leads like Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin already left to form Campo Santo games by the time Season 2 started up.

Yeah it was a bit short, but considering we met so many characters during that time frame I think it's slightly justifiable.

Waiting for season 2 and finding out what happened to Clementine.

Yep, they were one of the few parts in the game that I thoroughly enjoyed [apart from that memory flashback scene to elicit pathos which elicited yawns from me].

Actually playing Dead Space has helped me to formulate why I had such a bad reaction to AA. Essentially they use the same game design of being narrative driven and using NPCs to tell the player where to go and what to do. It's essentially the same process in each game but in AA the implementation is just pretty crass. A door gets shut in a cinematic making it obvious that Batman can't access the area through that door. What does the game do? Does it assume the player has the intelligence to realise this and leave it to them to find an alternative entrance just a few feet away? Does it fuck. Batman immediately says to himself "Hm, I can't get through there. I'd best look for another way in." No shit Sherlock! They don't call you the world's greatest detective for nothing! *rolleyes*

It's not so much that the game leads you by the nose that I dislike so much because it's the same in Dead Space, it's that it is so unsubtle and crass about it. It is effectively saying "you playa we no u is stoopid and/or not payin attention so dis is wat u gotta do rite". FFS, at least give me a couple of minutes to faff around demonstrating that I am stupid before you tell me what to do! Or....do what Dead Space does, tell you where to go and what to do but let the player work out the finer details.

I know a great many games lead the player by the nose when it comes down to it. The difference is that the good ones hide it well. In AA it's just so in your face it's insulting.

So the other aspect that I disliked and which is somewhat related to the first is that I never really felt that engaged in the game. I think it's because there was precious little challenge. It was always blindingly obvious what needed to be done. There was never any real chance that I would get stuck, not knowing where to go or what to do. So I was effectively playing the game on autopilot with my brain in neutral. A very similar experiece to watching many big budget mainstream movies I have found. I just found that boring. Oh it's got all the pretty pictures to look at and the amusing scenes with the Joker and H Quinn but meh. That however is the trouble with a narrative driven game, especially one that costs so much to produce. The player is not allowed to not finish the[ir] story that cost so much.

End 'rant'.

That pretty much covers it. Some of you were curious why I had complained about AA so there you are. Of course this is just my reaction and many of you have found the game to be an utter delight. I am pleased for you and merely sorry that I didn't share that reaction to the game because on paper it should be right up my street. Oh well :).

So many Emotions. I remember like it was yesterday when I first played that game, it's been almost a year. Played one Episode at a time to enjoy the best as well to digest the choices even if they weren't a game changer for some. like many expected.

I was running it at the lowest settings, but yeah I agree TWAU art style does look better and more inline with what we see in a comic book.

Bought Riddick. You all better be right or I'm going to do nothing at all.

Nothing at all.

NOTHING AT ALL.

Prepare for TAGES. As I've been saying, Steam version is good for bragging rights, GOG version for actual play through.

I hate Steam screenshot ordering on Community Activity page. Why does it have to order shots by the description length?
I want to show them in the order I took them so it won't jump form one scene to another and back again.

Finally finished Tomb Raider!

Really liked the beginning, but was getting tired of the formula somewhere around the middle. They have a great base for the inevitable sequel.

This defines my year in gaming. Anna, Bioshock Infinite, Deadlight, Mini Ninjas, Tomb Raider, and The Saboteur stick out as all suffering from that (pulled from stuff I've completed this year). I think that's why I've been going for shorter indies as of late. I've really enjoyed Papo & Yo, Botanicula, To The Moon, Gunpoint, and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs largely because they're short enough to not overstay their welcome.

With a lot of the AAA stuff I specifically feel them frontloading stuff, assuming that most players won't finish it. It's really challenging my sense of finishing pretty much everything I start. I feel like I would end up liking a lot more games than I already do if I just stopped playing half way through, and that's super weird.

How's your time with Volgarr been going? I picked it up yesterday and sadly I'm still on the first section of level 2. Even though I've only played two levels it looks like the levels are really diverse from one another.

It's fun having a new set of enemies and going "hrmmm I wonder what these guys do"

I really liked the whole game, only got tired of the story a bit. Their next game will be better for sure.

Thx to the very nice GAFer Bii I'm now in the Ghostbusters club with all the cool guys/gals too. But I think I'll skip Riddick, the GOG version is good enough.

Guys, Brothers is a good game for a Saturday night at home, right? I'm thinking of getting the missing endings in Stanley Parable and then starting that one, now that I'm done with my second "watchthrough" of Death Note.

I need some help!

All of a sudden, whenever I plug my wired 360 controller or wireless adapter for my 360 controller in, I get a blue screen of death on Windows 7. Google is telling me it was because I installed MotionJoy and/or Daemon Tools, so I uninstalled both. It's still happening. I don't have any malware or viruses, and I'm guessing its a registry issue that I can't figure out.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'd love if I could use a wireless 360 controller again, but using a wired would be fine too

For those that don't like it, I'm glad it's on me and not you. And no shit it's on me forever. Glad you were able to deduce that on your own.
