The twitter beef sounds like something that only affects journalists. If I had to guess, it's that debug Xbox Ones aren't shipping on time. Less time to review the games. Not a big deal to us.

Yeah that could mean anything. Maybe Rev3 or whatever Sessler's site is now these days got bought out or something. Maybe he's going to lose his job again. Maybe there were staff cutbacks at his office.

Yeah, lots of shit that could be referring to, just people being enigmatic to look better mostly. More interest in CBOAT and thuways stuff at the moment.

so here is my question. should reviewers deduct points from the xbone version if its running at a lower resolution or looks worse compared to the ps4 version?

Of course... why shouldn't they? It's been pretty common this gen. Bayonetta for example.

There is no way in heck MS is delaying this thing. Thats like giving Sony next-gen on a gold platter. Even if the launch consoles have buggy OS or even shoddy hardware, its in their best interest to launch this year.

Eh that isn't true. If the software is so buggy it cannot play games without crashing, then delaying it would be in there best interest. I dissatisfied customer returning the console is far worse then delaying it and making sure the customer has a good first experience.

This thread exploded since I went out. Regarding the latest tweets...what if Microsoft is leaving the videogame industry or looking to sell that division?

If it results in the game being a worse experience overall, which on a ten point scale is probably hardly noticeable.

Seems like the Sessler thing might be related to his job rather than perceived Xbox news? Anybody else get that inclination?

Wonder if its something simple like not being able to show video in a review or not being able to discuss something like controller usage.

Sounds like Sessler is talking about the review embargo. No win for them because for a full 7 days you are going to have PS4 headlines, reviews, gameplay footage, reactions, DS4 is FANTASTIC FOR FPS type stuff all over Youtube, etc.

A full week of press for the PS4 right before launch, and then finally 3 days before the PS4 launches you start seeing X1 reviews of games that have been reviewed for a full week, and those reviews could be harsh in stating the X1 version looks worse.

No win for MS in that scenario.

Yeah, makes sense to me.

I'm wondering if these people are just pissed off at the embargos?

In other words the 'power' that Sessler mentions isn't the power you're thinking of - Xbox One vs. PS4 but power as in those in charge, Microsoft.

Upset that those in power are preventing them from revealing their reviews and opinions until a later date compared to other systems.

This might be Gies is saying things like he *will* be posting his AC review because at least it is reviewable - as he can't post a review until the x day of November.

I'm guessing also that when Sessler says the truth will be known, he means people will talk about the embargoing and how controlling they're being?

So no mass conspiracy about Xbox One being rubbish or brilliant compared to the PS4 - just a bunch of dominating MS people?

Wait Gies/Sessler doomspeak is not related to Xbox One at all?! What the hell is going on, haha? And what reveal? Something revealed when?!

I have a guess, and it's a dumb one. What if the press is being pushed aside so that there are other means of showcasing Microsoft's desires? Like say, the press is embargoed a week or so prior to Microsoft putting out content of famous people or their own PR guys talking and showcasing the games and content?

From what I get from Sessler, he seems to imply that he and others are being repressed on some level, and it's for a dumb reason. A dumb reason would be to try and get famous people to play damage control for a system that has more haters than lovers. Either that or they're all seeing something very, very troubling about the system that Microsoft is telling them to not discuss, which can only be a major technical or design issue. Whatever it is, I am sure very few people will be happy about it. Microsoft needs all the flattery it can buy. I think that's the only way it's been able to get positive spotlight, like the Toys R Us listing. The platform has had nothing but shadows around it since the DRM fiasco was revealed.

But Sessler said he was looking forward to this weekend and that something happened to make him not look forward to the weekend. I mean what would ruin your weekend? It would not be something earth shattering that consumers would be concerned with. To me it reads more like he was looking forward to playing X and then something happened and now he is not.

It honestly sounds to me like they are crying because they are not getting their review consoles as planned. Maybe they decided to send out the review consoles closer to launch but initially they were going to send them out early.

It would explain why some people in the press are upset: "I was looking forward to this weekend" for example. It would also explain why people are saying Xbox Reviews are being delayed. It's also a "stupid" reason as Gies said.

If that is the case, sorry guys, I don't feel bad for you. Guess you'll have to wait like the rest of us. At least you don't have to spend $500 plus tax on yours.

The X1 specs aren't that far behind the PS4's, right? I mean going from 1080 to 720 seems pretty drastic, especially for a COD game. What am I missing?
