I'm not trolling, it's my opinion, but I genuinely feel this is a letdown, because:

-the maps are small
-the engine, althought updated, still shows some age
-we really could have expected 1080p for next gen from the 'staple' FPS

Crytek aren't first party. Killer Instinct is 720p and 60 fps too. There are differences between these games, but 720p and 60 fps sure seems to be a very common outcome, at this point.

Forza is 1080p 60.
Ki has started development in late 2012 by a small team of people. they could probably make the game at1080p with more time and resources.
 
I really hope this is a sign that the rumors about the hardware and toolset being so behind and last min other than this being a constant hardware issue.

I'm pretty sure my 3 year old PC will run this cod at 1080p... MS really dropped the ball here I mean battlefield I somewhat get but COD?

This all but confirms for me all multiplatforms I get will be on PS4.

Watch that attach rate drop this gen MS.

Hell my weak 6770 is running Battlefield 4 @ 900p, full Ultra, no AA, SSAO. 30-60fps depending on situation. Dips below 30 during those absolutely insane SP moments.

When I drop it down to 720p, it turns insanely ugly but atleast then I can turn on some AA, HBAO and such, full Ultra without issues.

Knowing the X1 version is 720p, no AA, no AO, no nothing is ... shocking ...

Then you have Call of Duty of all games, not pushing any graphical boundaries at all running 720p also. Again shocking. I will likely be able to play on my 6770 without issues @ 900p.
 
so when do we get the actual comparisons like we kinda got for BF4?

are we expecting resolution to be the only difference, or effects and lighting as well like battlefield?

A weak system couldn't produce games that look as good as Ryse, Forza 5 and Quantum break.

We've seen nothing of Quantum Break running on actual Xbox One hardware. The footage we have seen was a cutscene, likely running on PCs "approximating" Xbox One capabilties.

Ryse is a scripted, QTE-filled hack-and-slasher, with limited AI and physics calculations. Plus, it's Crytek; they have great engineers and artists that can even make games on the 7-8 year old PS3 and 360 look good.
 
The entire main ground texture on PS4 is not the same as the one on PC and XBO.

I saw that... I was asking where were those better textures.

Edit: PS. I watched those pics pixel to pixel ratio in my 900p laptop screen so it was fairly zoomed, but it also showed clearly how much better ps4 screen looked. No detail lost in ps4 pic and grainyness (blackcrush + sharpen... bad) in spots in XBO pic.
Edit2: Have to say LeadButter did not watch these pics very closely. Such a pro is he, eh.

Well it is a reworked engine, if you follow much earlier this year there was a trailer from IW which detailed a somewhat more robust lighting engine alongside many new features not found in current gen Cod games. Link is here:

So it's not simply the MW3 engine, there's more polys, better textures, environmental tessalation just to name a few; to be honest, watching the Cod Ghosts story trailer, I'm much more impressed with what I see there in terms of effects and IQ over what AC4 Black Flag is dishing out for the next gen consoles. Do not be fooled by persons who tell you that ghosts is simply MW3 at 1080p, even the specs for PC is more demanding as opposed to that of their last game.
 
Its more embrassing for Infinity Ward as a developer that can't get the game running at 1080p.

They've got it running at 1080p on the only next generation console on the market. Microsoft didn't release a console that is a true generational leap forward, so they're left with an aliased 720p mess of a half way house.

Xbone is very weak with major bottleneck in the memory system (esram)

I wouldn't be surprise if Forza was downgraded to 900p before launch.

Pretty sure Forza will remain 1080p, though I think it would look better at 720 as there are too many compromises made for 1080p IMO.

Also, we're back at blaming infinity ward? smh... they have CoD:Ghosts running at 1080p on another platform and they're not the only Devs cutting resolution on XB1.

No, there are a few tricks they are using though to make it look a little better but it still falls well short of Dynamic lighting. Forza is using a lot of "tricks" to cut corners and provide imitations of certain effects.

Ryse is an exclusive, plus a very linear, scripted, focused and close quarters game. It also runs at half the frame rate of BF4 and COD.

So the Xbox, the console for FPS fans, has two FPSs at launch, and both are 720p. And their March FPS is 720p as well.

Meanwhile, the PS4 has three FPSs at 1080p plus another at 900p at launch. And Planetside 2 is in development.

Wow.
 
Well, I'm old with bad eyesight so any resolution over 480p looks the same to me! (This is my attempt to snuggle comfortably into the Acceptance zone that I'm paying $100 more for a weaker, rushed, hard-to-develop-for system).
 
Embarrassing. COD literally has nothing on BF4 now, they used to have the fps advantage but now they are totally outclassed by DICE.

60 fps is not the main reason why it sells. It sells because it's super accessible. Anybody can pick up and play it and the metagame keeps people playing. There is a reason why we are seeing more points for killing people in fps and leveling.

Accessibility is the main reason. You can kill easily and you respawn almost instantly. It's less frustrating for new comers compared to other games.

Surprised people are having such difficulties with this. It's pretty blatant to my eyes. Pretty much the entire darn ground texture is different. Are you like switching between just the Xbox and PC ones?

60 FPS was a pretty huge bragging point, actually. Even gamers that were unfamiliar with the technicality of frame rates would say CoD "felt" better, more responsive.

Now Battlefield 4 is offering that level of response with graphics that are miles ahead of CoD, and gameplay that is more interesting.

I have a funny feeling Xbone will look better in screen comparisons (unless you view them at 1080p). The PS4 is not 125% more powerful anyway you look at it. I'm guessing Xbone will be better in a few ways to somewhat make up for the raw pixel pushing that the PS4 can do. Maybe even better models, tessellation or textures.

The PS3 is only 30-40 GFLOPS stronger than the 360. And it was much more difficult to program for.

The PS4 is over 530 (630 if you include 10%) GFLOPS stronger than the Xbox One. And it's much more easier to program for.
