UK: Ghosts sells more copies on the PS4 than Wii U.

Ofc, the PS4 console has yet to be released, lol.

62 per cent of sales were recorded on Xbox 360, 34 per cent on PlayStation 3 and 3 per cent on PS4, even though the copies won't be playable for another three weeks.

Wii U and physical PC sales counted for less than a single per cent of the game's total

The PS4 version performs spectacularly well for a game that consumers will not be able to actually play for another 3 weeks, managing to outsell the PS3 versions of ‘Assassin’s Creed IV’ and ‘Battlefield 4’. [Note: Those were their second week.]

A game sells more for a platform who's legacy is synonymous with video gaming in that region over a platform that the UK have basically abandoned entirely.

Does this really surprise anyone?

Not surprising. Although the result may not have changed the outcome, how does one expect the Wii U version to outsell the PS4 version when some retailers are even not carrying them in stores?

Well it's still three weeks until the ps4 is released, I'm mostly surprised people bother picking up games that far in advance.

To quote Exile20 from the closed Ghost on Wii U thread:

No Eshop version
No DLC
No squad feature
No screenshot or hype prior to release
BO2 was inferior except for the pointer controls.
BO2 missed two updates that the other versions got

Not to mention scarce retail availability.

I would expect the best console version of the game to sell better.

Very strong outing for the 360.

At the same time, some retailers might not have put PS4 games on the shelf, purely because the console isn't out yet.

Not surprised. Went around Southampton on Wednesday and Bournemouth on Thursday and NOBODY had it in stock. Everywhere has a Wii U section now, except Asda, but nobody had CoD...not even GAME.

Reports were similar everywhere.

You can't complain that people aren't buying your game if you refuse to bloody ship any of that version.

Has anyone in UK even seen the WiiU version in store? I wasn´t able to find a single copy in Germany, so this shouldn´t be that suprising for Activision.

And there's no comment worth making about the mildly smirksome fact that one of those platforms isn't actually out yet?

Not worth just a little giggle?

Selling less copies than the PS4 version doesn't surprise me. Selling for a combined 1% (less than, I know) of all copies with the physical PC release does surprise me, however. That is definitely very low.

For better or worse I made up part of that 3%.

Say whatever you want about the lazy reuse of assets, small graphical upgrade and lack of real innovation (I'd agree), but Call of Duty multiplayer is still the best multiplayer out there IMO.

My local EB Games had one copy of Ghosts on the Wii U and it cost me $10 more than the other versions with one less map. Not surprised in the slightest.

I saw it in Glasgow's HMV yesterday. It was about forty quid though. I wouldn't pay that for a CoD game.

Sales-wise, the PlayStation 4 version of Ghosts was this week's seventh best-selling game, if all SKUs were counted separately - more than the PS3 versions of Battlefield 4 and Assassin's Creed 4.

I find this hard to believe.

Hopefully this will convince more third party devs to abandon WiiU. The quicker it dies the better.

Looks like Sony could be winning some ground back in the UK, thought Xbox would stay out in front but maybe more people are picking up a PS4 there than I expected.

Is the rest of the world as apathetic towards the Wii U as we are here in the UK? How about the rest of Europe or Australia? The US? Japan?!

It's absolutely dead in Australia, we've even had some fire-sales by certain retailers. Some people managed to get a deluxe for around $200 AUD a couple of months ago.

looks at nintendo wii u on one side .... call of duty on the other ... yeah not compatible ... walks away from topic.

Seriously how many people think the wii u crowd (as of right now with the sales it has) has great cod potential? I would be surprised if the wii u version did well actually.

There are more than 3x as many people out there who would drop £50 to see what a PS4 disc and box look like than would play Call of Duty on Wii U.

That shouldn´t surprise anyone, the WiiU is a dead platform. I can´t understand why any third parties are still releasing games this christmas after the fiasco of 2012/early 2013.
