PAL Charts - Week 44, 2013

Wait, so the PS4 version (3%) outsold the Wii U & PC versions (1% combined), despite the fact that the console isn't even on the shelves yet?

Fuuuuuuuuuuck. That is nuts.

The PS4 version performs spectacularly well for a game that consumers will not be able to actually play for another 3 weeks, managing to outsell the PS3 versions of ‘Assassin’s Creed IV’ and ‘Battlefield 4’.
Sorry if this sounds a bit way more nuts to me! :)

Everybody i know has Ghosts pre-ordered for PS4, so they just picked up their copy then.

In terms of the Wii U version, it wasn't stocked anywhere, there won't be any DLC and not on the eShop so not surprising.

I wanted to get it on Wii U but i can't justify it when the 360 version will just be so much better, and have a bigger user base. :(

So is it fair to assume the NSMBU+L bundle didn't sell gangbusters (if its out)?

Doesn't look like the NSMBU bundle did much. The 2DS+Moshi Monsters and Vita+Killzone+VT4 bundles brought the respective games much higher.

Bottom of the chart is probably like ~1K, so no it didn't really do much of anything. Well, I guess it got the Wii U back up to ~1K for the week at least.

Eh, I believe it could be higher than that. Not that much, but still higher. We're entering Holiday season, and this one is crowded as hell, much more than last year. Heck, Skylanders: Swap Force sold the same as of last week (actually, it increased 2%, but it's basically the same), but in the Individual Charts the two biggest SKUs both the 360 and Wii SKU decreased in places (and there were no new SKUs released).

...And this should also be a sign that both Pokémon SKUs didn't drop at all compared to last week, since they're higher than both the main Skylanders SKUs.

Mario & Sonic megabomba. Only 10th in the Wii U Only Chart. Wow. To give you context...it's lower than Sonic: Lost World.

They didn't want to break the 'all first party' streak.

Sonic is a third party title, actually, as well as Layton. And Lego is something in-between, I'd say. :P

Seriously, Batman on 3DS bombed. Unfortunately, the console in the West (not just UK) has the Nintendo audience, the Japanese core-like audience, it's starting having some of the children audience, but it lacks the Western core-like audience. That's where Iwata (or whoever will replace him) must work for the next gen handheld. As I already said elsewhere, I'm sure just having two analogues will help in this, but it won't be enough.

Dude, it takes too long to say 'all published by Nintendo under the Nintendo label'.

I'm very interested to see where they go next time. Fingers crossed it won't be some underpowered device with a wacky feature as a USP. Just make a really powerful modern Gameboy please.

One could argue that there is not so much Western core-like audience for handhelds given the Vita situation.

Good, game is garbage. Bought it a bit carelessly because my wife thought it could be fun together, and then it turns out many events can't even be played with the GamePad.
Like, seriously? *sigh*. She still had fun in the end and that's what matters, but I won't be surprised if in a couple of week we let it gather dust

While waiting for Guardian shares

Battlefield 4 debut - 128.932
Battlefield 4 second week (-54%) - 59.309
Total - 188.241

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag debut - 132.800
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag second week (-63%) - 49.136
Total - 181.936

The difference is about 6k, so the estimates are basically perfect.

Battlefield 4 outsold ACIV for 6k across the first two weeks; in the estimate, by almost 4k, so it's very, very near to the actual numbers

FIFA 14 last week - 53.088
FIFA 14 this week (-16%) - 44.594

Grand Theft Auto V last week - 47.589
Grand Theft Auto V this week (-31%) - 29.029

Batman: Arkham Origins last week - around 46.341
Batman: Arkham Origins this week (-55%) - around 20.853
