GameInformer Cover reveals Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor(PC/PS3/360/X1/PS4)/Monolith

"GAF's biggest wanker"
we feel the upcoming game showcases some of the gameplay innovation potential now possible on next-generation consoles through its groundbreaking Nemesis System.
Yet it's coming to current gen consoles as well...

Sounds cool. I'm curious to see how any enemies are actually able to survive fights with you. If they give them an actual survival fight or flight instinct (like if they can realize they're getting their ass kicked and decide to try to run away) that would be pretty awesome, not to mention long overdue.

War in the North was average right?

Should expect the same for this one.
Well that was a different developer.

Yes, into my veins!

^Monolith also did the Condemned games, more importantly since I would imagine this will be hand to hand combat.

Prequel to the lord of the rings......Tolkien alread did that its called the Hobbit....

if this is an original story it will suck balls, IF and its a huge IF they draw from source material and unfinished tales etc then it could be passable

but thats from a story view point

gameplay wise i have no expectations, but i'd like it to be like the X-men Legends/MUA games and a 4 character squad with drop in drop out multiplay avaliable

Remember folks, this is Monolith PRODUCTIONS. They made The Matrix Online, the FEAR series, Condemned, and the Guardians of Middle-Earth game.

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic.

Pretty sure this game is from the movieverse.

this sounds like what i'd want from a lord of the rings game. be cool if it wasn't cross gen, but still interested.

Please don't suck

should have been first post.

So many LOTR games, and so few good ones.

meh, cross gen is really small potatoes this gen. Much more in the devs' best interest to a) create PC/next-gen assets and scale those down for last-gen and b) put "port teams" on last-gen letting the primary team work on PC/current-gen.

Have a feeling cross-gen is going to be much different at the start of this gen compared to prior ones.

Ooooo Monolith is back. Sweet. The game itself sounds like it has some interesting ideas. Gonna keep an eye on this.

Also, what has this developer done before?

No One Lives Forever - Great, great game that's up in the air regarding licensings.
Condemned: Criminal Origins 1 and 2 - spooky survival action game involving hobos and bears.
FEAR 1 - Spooky Shooter that's really damn good.
FEAR 2 - Spooky Shooter that's good but not as good as the sequel but still holds up pretty well.
FEAR 3 - Shit shooter that's not spooky at all and requires Co-Op - This wasn't done by Monolith Productions at all.
Gotham City Impostors - Honestly it's my FAVORITE shooter of this generation. Oozes style and the gunplay is phenomenal.
Guardians of Middle Earth - it's a MOBA.

I think they're qualified. Interested to see what Monolith can do.

Wow, I've been kinda down on Fantasy-set games for awhile, but this looks super interesting. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes on this!

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE

people can fuse with wraiths now?

also I'm pretty sure Mordor didn't suddenly become uninhabitable a few years before Lord of the Rings. Wiki tells me it was unconquerable since around the time of the ending of the Hobbit, and inhabited by tons of evil dudes even before that.

They've only done two small downloadable titles since 2009, and they're a 100+ studio..
I love LOTR, so this could be great. A good RPG in Middle Earth would be far, far better than any game ever.

For a moment I almost hoped thy were going to resurrect "The White Council" project, but reading these initial description, it sounds quite different.
Anyway, tentatively interested!

TO BE FAIR, they had nothing to do with FEAR 3. That was done by Day 1 Studios.
