"Like a one man human centipede"

Ive been on hold for 30mins back and fourth with a bunch of "still looking for your solution, gonna place you back on hold"

I guess the bright side is I still have my launch system at gamestop fully paid for if this one is defective.

Or you could just sell the defective unit for half the cost... boom profit and after all you still get to keep that "Greatness awaits" card lol.

I'm sure there's people who's willing to put up with a PS4 that barely works.

A tiny handful of cases and people are already whispering RROD-like doom? When has a mass market piece of electronics launched and you not hear stories of defective units soon after?

Can we at least wait until after the 15th before we proclaim doom?

EVERYTHING has a failure rate.

With that being said, I wouldn't blame someone for waiting a couple of months before buying a next-gen console.

If I get an extended warranty from GameStop, I can just get another one right away in case something goes bad, though. Right?

So the OP had his system go belly up when he was downloading an update for BF4. Kotaku's issue was a faulty HDMI port.

Do we know about the two reddit issues?

Trying to see if there is a pattern.

When they get stock in. Could be a while.

Sorry to hear about that, OP. Hopefully Sony is quick to get it back to you. They may give you a free game for your troubles, so don't get your ebay listing ready yet.

Also, I'm very surprised at how defensive and overly sensitive some people are about this topic. How quickly people forget PS2s shat the bed regularly (not as bad as 360s). It happens - it's part of being an early adopter.

It's going to be interesting to see the contrast for similar Xbox One stories. Going to be full of drive-by lolz and GIFs with no sympathy for the OP at all.

The light on the ps4 is solid when in use, mine flashes on and off. isn't the red or flashing red of over heating.

They have directed me to re download the 1.50 firmware onto usb.

For those criticizing, if this happens to you (hope it doesn't) refer to this thread for help, skip past the "jokes"...

I don't know if it already has been posted, but have you tried to connect the PS4 directly to your TV instead of to your AV receiver?

There is going to be a certain percentage of any electronic item that will be DOA or shortly after, it is just the way it goes. I don't think that anyone here should be overly concerned. At the same time I am going to say a short prayer that my PS4 is all ok! :)

Not really surprised - Microsoft went the ultra safe route with having the power brick outside it again this gen; Sony made it look more appealing by not doing that but also probably increasing the chances of it bricking at some point.

Just one of many reasons why I'm sitting back and letting everyone else deal with the growing pains of a new launch before I dive in sometime next year or the year after that.

We already have 5 broken consoles and it hasn't even officially launched yet. I'm starting to panic because if this is too widespread it will put Playstation down for good.
