Ryse: Son Of Rome |Reviews| It's going to be a bloodbath!

hmmn..

who to trust.. people who actually played and finished the game or someone who just seen the game on youtube or something?

decisions.. decisions..

Yeah... you might wanna stay away from Killzone SF's Metascore. Those reviewers played that game, too.

Having played Killzone SF, I disagree with the low scores. But Ryse's campaign only being 5-6 hours is a no go. Pre-order canceled. Will rent or wait for price drop.

So Ryse is pretty much being universally panned. Makes we wonder how these review sights hype us and hype us on a game and then after they get us buying they let us know how crappy a game it is. These guys are nothing more than used car salesmen.

Would it be wrong to compare this game:

?

The former has more AI characters during the final battle on screen than Ryse has in the entire game.

God I'm getting tired of this kind of crap. Maybe they thought Ryse was worth a play through and Killzone wasn't? Are there not allowed to be differing opinions?

It's like people assume that because one game got one score another game they like has to be higher or one they don't like has to be lower.

To an outsider though they both look like gfx showcases with not much else, i know this to be false though because i love kz. They were both called on being pretty but lacking so youd expect the same sort of review.

Every single sign not from the developers pointed at Ryse being terrible.

In fact if you look at these scores all it tells you is how much each reviewer values graphics and graphics alone.

After a couple of incidents that recently happened, i'm convinced Polygon is not to be taken serious in any way. They're not getting one single click from me on the website, streams, whatever. They are liars. I can respect any opinion. But these people are clearly dishonest (as proven by others).

As for Ryse.. i would like to play it for an hour.

Can someone enlighten me how Ryse getting shit scores shows how bad Knack is ?

lol

I was just being ironic. Knack looks kinda fun on the streams. Ryse appears to be boring as hell gameplay wise

Gameplay (overall): knack>Ryse
Visuals: Ryse>knack
Review systems:looks>gameplay.

It's not like we were lacking for examples but it's nice to have examples at the lower end of the scale.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
I think this brings the total times you've posted this in various topics up to about 9 by now (2 in this very topic alone).

You seem oddly obsessed with this tweet.

Maybe I need to actually read the reviews but score-wise, it seems like the definition of an average game, which is actually better than I expected.

Alot of sites said it wasnt good from the off, some however have truely flip flopped on it. I think this whole previews being kind thing press seem to stick to needs to end. Previews should lean more to the consumer than they do right now, which lean more to little but pr bits.

Although it's getting mediocre reviews it's still 1 of 2 games that make me want to get an xbox one.

I think the game looks fun and i love the setting. Shame it lived up to the negativity the community was putting around it however. Feels like the game was never going to be anything more than a 5 out of 10 or 6 out of 10 because of how much hate it was getting prior to launch. Not to say it doesn't deserve the hate or the bad scores, everyone is entitled to their opinion and i am sure once i eventually do a xbone and play it i am sure i will be somewhat disappointed but the fact remains i am still interested. Hopefully this doesn't push MS away from doing a sequel.

Thats what i feel about knack, i know i will love kz, samething happened with batman game i enjoyed it it got 6-7. Ryse is still on my list for tomorrow infact ive paid for it, im strange like that though when people say a game sucks i kind of want to see it more.

I think Knack looks great. It's the one game on PS4 that I could see me spending a lot of time on.

Crytek has not made a good game in 6 years. Amazing how they are still coasting off the good will of Crysis because I really think crisis 2 and 3 just blow chunks.

coasting by on crysis 2 and 3? those games both reviewed well. both are solid and at the very least feature ridiculous graphics that still look better than games like KZ4.

regardless im seeing knack, and crysis now, dragged into this mess,

Of course posters in Knack OT like Knack. However those posters don't represent Neogaf, not even a significant percentage of Neogaf.

Not at all. Heavenly sword had a choppy/inconsistent framerate, no multiplayer and a shorter campaign than Ryse, and i still loved Heavenly Sword. Expecting the same with Ryse.

You cant actually compare knack or killzone to Ryse. Killzone was reviewed with little multiplayer time and had competition with ghosts and BF4. Knack is below average looking kid friendly brawler.
Where as ryse marvelous looking game with shitty combat

Unfortunately poor reviews as expected, but still a good graphical showpiece for One...haven't read any full reviews yet, but do they say how long the game is?

Yeah cant wait for it, ryse will be my first game tomorrow in the slot. Its a shame they couldnt build a better game around the stunning looks. I feared that even if the gameplay was good that they wouldnt offer enough to break it up like the batman games do. I look forward to getting into battles on that because theres enough other stuff to break it up.

Amazon.com : Top seller Xbox One game
Amazon.de : 2nd place
Amazon.it: Top seller Xbox One game
Amazon.es : 3rd and 4th place (together probably first)
Amazon.co.uk: 5th place

It will sell well enough

Better than CoD, Madden and BF4?

Game will sell like crazy despite the reviews. I am really shocked that so many review sites had the nerve to score it so low, after hyping it for months and months. It has been advertised constantly. I give them props for calling it for what they see it.

It does look awesome thought, just doesn't appear to play that way.

Great scores as I suspected. You already know this is gonna be the violent and gruesome killer app that xbone consumers are craving.

I wasnt comparing them per say, just in that he said he was enjoying a game that got shit reviews. Just like knack and Ryse, sometimes reviews are totally off unless a game gets a 2 or less for being flat out broke which none of these launch games are there is a chance a bunch of people will find them fun and worth the investment.

These reviews aren't great, but they aren't as bad as I thought they'd be.

Thought we'd see worse considering the embargo wasnt lifted until the day before launch.

I think you know what i'm talking about, go check the Knack ot.

the OT of any game only represents the opinions of the people playing the game, not of NeoGAF on the whole. we all read the complaints reviewers had. people like me that didn't like the sound of those complaints didn't buy it (or in my case, returned it). the people that thought those complaints might not bother them, who bought it anyway, do not represent 'GAF' on the whole.

I expect the people that still buy Ryse will be people who don't mind repetitive games with simple combat systems that have pretty graphics. I imagine the people posting in the OT for the game will thusly have pretty favorable opinions of it. It won't make it a game that 'GAF' likes any more than it does for Knack.

Stop after chapter 4, it gets really bad.
No No... The KZ SF game play gets better. That action and music fits like a hand in glove (really good stuff)

The story, well..just um.... yeah. The story is an unjustifiable cluster fu%k.

61 meta rating or not I can't wait to play the hell out of this game. Definitely the first disc that's going into the drive come tomorrow.

Phenomenal setting. Story and characters seem interesting. Combat looks decent enough. And obviously it's downright gorgeous.

It's really too bad Ryse couldn't get the broader appeal with reviewers as it definitely had the potential to be a big hit. I'm sure the low review scores will be a decent blow to the sales but no way it's going to stop me from enjoying it.

So what I'm getting out of this is that Crytek is pretty much garbage now, and now meaning the past half decade.
