Thank goodness for California. Now they can even further subsidize the red states run by people who think government is terrible.
blue states doing what blue states do
Those fiscally irresponsible tax & spend Democrats!
what year is this post from?
What is your response supposed to mean? I'm not very knowledgable on this subject, so if he said something wrong, please explain why. Otherwise this thread is just snarky comments and strawmen driveby posts.
Finish the fucking 405 and 5 before 2016 please. I think that would be a good use of the money anyway.
Well, they did have to tax higher to make this happen, didn't they?
They still gotta pay back all the debt incurred during the financial collapse, but this is a good direction. Slashing the budget and raising taxes worked, so both sides are both wrong and they are both right.
With that said, I would like more investment into a mass transit infrastructure, since there is a lot of productivity and free time that is lost being stuck in traffic. The population density of the Bay Area and The LA super region from Santa Monica to San Bernardino is some of the most crammed areas in the United States.

Wrong. Only one side advocates this policy. The other side says no tax hikes at all . . . ever. They still gotta pay back all the debt incurred during the financial collapse, but this is a good direction. Same. I'd like to as well. I'd like better mass transit option, tho. I hate driving.
I heard that around the bay area, it is pretty solid. Yeah, do not want to drive in that traffic =/
it's only really solid in SF.
Everywhere else is a mess....
Meaning silicon valley is competely awful.

Seriously there are so many construction projects that have been running for years, it's mind boggling how they haven't managed to fix it yet.
So is this due to austerity?
I learned in a federal deficit thread that these sort of deficit reductions aren't necessarily a good thing, and the explanation as to why made sense.
Caltrain, BART, and the ferry system can be decent options if you work near a station. Otherwise, you're at the mercy of the bus system of a particular area.
That's also assuming that your final destination is somewhere where the transit is good too. As oppossed to a destination in like, Santa Clara/San Jose that kinda area :-/
*I'm sure you can tell about how upset I am about the physical location of where I work. ugh.'
EDIT: Oh jeez, I misread your post thinking you said "if you leave near a station" rather than "work near a station".
Even though the likelihood of California spending that money right away after they receive it, I really do hope that they use that money to pay off debts and create a reserve.
Best coast confirmed!
Were back baby!
The state needs to give this state worker... a raise.
Jerry Brown is a legendary cheap bastard. And I really like that about him. So I think he'll keep the lid on spending.Even though the likelihood of California spending that money right away after they receive it, I really do hope that they use that money to pay off debts and create a reserve.
That's what the commie socialism of those gay-loving tree-hugging hippies does to you.
Longest running state to have weed dispensaries....Giant surplus of money....coincidence?
TEXAS CAN GO SUCK IT!!!
Seriously, how the fuck are we supposed to get any more Rob Schneider moviesSo why don't we have production tax credits to compete with NY, Georgia, and the like?
C'mon, Moonbeam. Get on it.
rent is still too damn high
Alright... now give me my money back.
Do you give part of your paycheck back to your boss if it turns out you have some left over?

Oh, and saying Texas is doing 'better', when even The Economist is saying you're going too far on austerity.
I thought Texas was doing really bad. Just googled.

They're doing better than California, 8.8B surplus in 2014-2015 FY. No tax raises, to boot.
Since this year. But not for long. Because tax cuts.
all that oil and natural gas money.
I want them to repeal Prop 30.
