Xbox One - Walk into a store and pick it up?

Calm Killer

In all media, only true fans who consume every book, film, game, or pog collection deserve to know what's going on.
There was a thread posted last week for the PS4 launch where the OP fully planned on walking into the store and just picking one up. I haven't seen a thread with the same info but for the xbox one. How is the availability for the xbox one if you did not preorder? Has anyone tried to do this at any stores yet? What kind of luck is everyone having with this? Is there as big of a demand?

I know people were hitting up Sears and Costco for the PS4 and results varied on everyone's location. Some places had plenty, some had nothing but laughter directed at them. Whats going on with the xbox one?

My local GAME tweeted earlier saying that they had a fair bit of stock in which they have bundled into ultimate bundles.

Just walked into my local Target (in DFW) to get the new Zelda and they seemed to have quite a few. People were looking at me like I was crazy for not getting one.

The störe in Germany where i work my part time job only received 1 console lol. It was gone right after we opened. Its a rather large store btw.

The walmart by my house didn't have any. I was able to score some skylander black friday deal for the kids though.

lol

They tried pushing it to you?

Nah, nothing like that. The other customers, really. The cashier just laughed and told me that I was the only person he'd seen this morning that hadn't been there to buy an Xbone.

There was a particularly funny moment as I was walking back to electronics. A guy had just bought one and was walking out with it under his arm. We met eyes for a second (or maybe I just look like a guy who enjoys a good video game every now and then), he grinned and said, "You better run, dude!" I laughed at his excitement. Always fun to see people so giddy about their purchases. You could just tell he was really excited.

Went to the Saturn near my work (Berlin) to get Pacific Rim, still got plenty of Xbones sitting there. I guess the demand is not that high.

I checked Target.com for my location

XBox One Console - in stock at most locations within 20-30 miles
Playstation 4 Console - out of stock.

It may be that they have a large stock for day one (weekend one) purchases and then will hold remaining stock for Black Friday.

Two of my targets says in stock too.

just a heads up on target, they are holding most not all for the Sunday ad. Try calling before anyone drives down.

Was in Target about 20 minutes ago.

They had about 10 X1's available. No PS4's by comparison.
If I didn't just buy a new TV and PS4 I probably would have just grabbed one impulsively. :p

Seems easy enough to pick Xbox one up at stores, been round the shops this morning and most had stock, The assistant in Argos(big chain store) noticed me looking at the display and started rambling on about the new console, Fifa and price stopped me picking one up for now. This being English stores.

Interesting, i wonder if those 'yield issues' were indeed wrong. Microsoft could have supplied a shit load of consoles.

Sony and MS could had respectively produced 500 vs 50,000,000 units and that does not mean anything, if that was their intended number of units to produce.

Even all the reports of PS4 having larger allocation than Xboxes doesn't necessarily mean there's yield issues.

The one and single most damning factor that implies yield issues is the reduction of launch countries. ( 21->13)

Please can we not turn this thread into a pissing contest and have people report their local stock situation and be helpful to those looking for Bones. No need for lolol not sold out bullshit.

In stock at every store I've called in my area so far. Target, Wal Mart, Best Buy and Toys R Us all have consoles for you, provided you have the space in your vehicle.

edit: area code 44133..... (Parma, Ohio area)

My gamestop still had a few this morning but they sold a few last night and they said they will probably sell them by the end of the day. Not sure if they where pre ordered or not when I asked but they still offered to sell me one cause gamestop is like that.

Just out of curiosity for US gafers, have shops been restocked with PS4's since launch or is Sony hoarding the second run for EU launch?

Looks like tons available in Canada at future shop and best buy. They cut a lot of night shifts yesterday when most stores had less than 15 people in line for midnight launch versus over 200 for the PS4.

Target, Walmart, and Sears all have them out for purchase here. Walmart is supposedly holding some back for Black Friday, but you can still walk in and get one as of now.

They aren't sold out so it would be fairly easy to go pick one up if you go early.

Yeah, about that...

I checked numerous stores and none of them have free stock for sale. None whatsoever, the best I was offered by Game was to come back on Monday and see if anyone hadn't picked up their pre-order (which most people had already done so, with people coming in to pick theirs up while I was in store) and other stores telling me I wouldn't be likely to get one until mid December but if I wanted to guarantee one, I'd have to pre-order.

Probably be able to go in the morning and get one but I would imagine buy later afternoon/evening they will all be gone.

Walmart.com says they are in stock, but can't give me any info on my local store. I thought about looking for one this weekend if I go shopping, but at this point I think it might be a good idea to wait.

Sorry Zip is 26847

The gamestop I preordered Mario from has 2, but they will probably be gone before lunch

Funny, they are sold out of Mario already.

I'm not the only one saying this Miles, plenty of others saying the same thing.

I'm gonna see if I can pick one up off ebay below cost. With stock plentiful, flippers might get burned.

North Dakota targets have Xbox Ones in stock, walmart is down for all the zipcodes I tried in the state. Really weird. I tried some Minnesota zipcodes and it worked fine but no Nodak.

I checked at my local Target and Walmart this week out of curiosity and neither had any PS4s. Not sure if they've been getting shipments and they're out the door right away or what but there was nothing there.

I haven't seen or heard or any store in my area being restocked. Seems like they are being hoarded for black Friday next week.
