As long as Indestructible is in there, I'll be happy

Dead-body hits please.

Seth
Jump back HP, arms extend like Dhalsim

I don't play, but isn't returning Seth's jump stretching punch a big buff?

The laser scope is back. This is a huge buff for Seth, he gets his instant overhead back (along with the inherent risks of course).

Seth
UC1's hitbox has been expanded vertically

Are we Marvel now with full screen hitboxes? I know it's not full screen (just sweeps the screen really fast) but it starts coming close when you increase the vertical hitbox.

If you're on the ground, block (the timing to get to the top of your arc to avoid is now decreased), but if you're already in the air, it seems a lot of the cast (with the exception of Chun, Dhalsim, possibly Ryu/Ken with the ability to air tatsu) are screwed (Hakan and Gen especially with low jumps).

I'm super salty about Ken's garbage fireballs, though

I thought (and I could be wrong here), that they were making them on par with Ryu's fireballs? And that cr.MK -> FB was not able to be FADCed through by the opponent on block.

RIP in peace Official Bison Pressure™ ... he's done.

Agreed, that sounds like a braindead decision. Even if the inputs for his U2 were changed back to QCF x 2, that's not enough to justify his core gameplay/pressure technique/advantage (especially given that he isn't overflowing with them anyways).

Some players don't believe low jumping characters like Hakan can jump over a standing Hugo lol

Add Gen in there as well.

It's press and hold any 2 buttons when hit with a hard knockdown.

I'm conflicted on the ability to delay wakeup on hard knockdown. I think there should be some advantage to landing a hard knockdown but not sure where that advantage should end.

Should you be able to set up a safe jump because of a hard knockdown? Absolutely.

Should vortexes exist because of a hard knockdown? Depends on the character and what other tools they have and if they need the vortex as an integral part of their game.

Unblockables? Nope.

Given that there's zero cost with delayed wakeup, a core component of the game has been removed. I get that this component doesn't exist in other fighting game franchises, but I'm not sure that the Street Fighter franchise is ready for that.

On the delay knockdown, couldn't that be countered by a delayed vortex to get the vortex- giving you a chance at still getting the vortex?

Could he ever use it as an instant overhead the way Sim can? Pretty sure he couldn't but it's been a while.

I could have sworn he could in Super. If anyone knows, it would be Art. Asked on Twitter:

If not for anything else, it does help with escaping, as well as punishing those with recovery on projectiles.

Possibly, a lot of it depends on whether or not the length of the delay is controlled or not. If it is variable, then all the advantages of hard knockdown go out the window.

I'm more comfortable having the delay be fixed (preferably the same for all characters), introducing more of a mind game aspect to the wakeup game on hard knockdowns.

Holy hell, this thread exploded overnight. Going to take awhile to catch up.

Starting to get really excited about Ultra again, though I don't think those Hakan changes will stick.

The only Oni change is FADC DP? Wat.

Capcom pls. The janky hitboxes. Please.

Also, a couple of things missing that were in the rumors:

Oni change to U2 motion
Hakan change to Oil Rocket motion.

The first would be OP so not really surprised. The second would've been a nice to have but right now not complaining about Hakan's change list. :D

I'm not a fan of regular Spires. The frame data I've seen mentions that the recovery on it is roughly the same all across the board but it always feels like the Ex version is one that is actually faster and usable for that kind of spacing. Every time I've tried the normal ones, I eat something on the recovery, heh.
A good normal spire is a meaty normal spire. Those frame advantage numbers are for it landing on the first active frame, but if you're further out and delay contact in that active window then you can actually be even or plus on block. Of course, this also gives them more time to react to it coming.

Agreed, faster walkspeed will make a nice addition to Hawk's game. I think c.mk xx EX spire will improve his footsie game and discourage people from focusing his c.mk.

Personally I don't think Hawk needs all that many things changing but so far, so good :)

Well, I'm in agreement with David about general changes. Better reward on SPDs, adjust his normals to be better, etc. I'd like to see his st.mk get some more active frames, probably just 1 or two.

Who's in the KI finals besides CDJr and Justin?

Duncan, NWM IV KOF13 champ and the guy that beat Xian with Rufus at that MCZ Unleashed event here in Seattle won up here.

Still just too risky to use it with its current data. If it gets changed, it might be usable but in its current incarnation, it's not even going to really combo even if you do hit cr.mk. lol

Is it known if c mk tomahawk combos if c mk is point blank? Like crossup splash, c mk, tomahawk? Was just thinking that it might be a slightly easier move to hit confirm with.

Then do splash c mk FADC command throw or something for kicks. Why should Honda get all the fun?

Is Rolento's ultra 2 a grab? May go through fireballs, sounds promising

I'm so worried about timer scam with Elena. Just imagine being up in life, but losing cause she got that ultra off at the last second a half-screen away.

It has recovery, can't be done out of the blue

It doesn't change much, to be honest. You just have to take her U2 into account when deciding whether or not you're up in life.
We'll get caught once or twice, and then we'll adjust.

As I recall, in SF3 the healing didn't start until after the super flash.

I'm imagining that they time it so that the healing starts with 1 second left on the clock a half-screen away, long enough to get some of the healing but too little time for a last-second punish. I don't believe it would work if you activate it right in front of their face, or against Dhalsim who can quickly interrupt the healing.

I think thats always been the point of the move.

In 3S i pick it to fight characters I can keep out, make it a dirty HP race to the bottom

At least in 3rd Strike, the super was a huge bar (and EX moves with Elena were somewhat useful). You have to plan ahead if you're going to be timer scamming. With SF4 mechanics, they will most likely have healing ready when the time is running down.

IMO healing should've been the super. Unless indeed, they want it to be a timer scam device (like Jefailey's special in Divekick).
What happens to Juri and Elena's ultras when you use W? You heal less/get less time?
I too wonder how timed-ultras will work in W mode. Especially Rose's U2. They could reduce the damage on the orbs, but damage really isn't their point so you'd think W mode would be good for her. But if they cut down the time orbs stay out there, that'll actually give player a reason to pick U2 exclusively.
