I'm not convinced a patch is coming. Not at all. I think this is just how Polyphony does things now. Push things further than they should, and oh well, screen tearing and framerate drops. It's sloppy, and it's just how they roll these days. It's incredible to think they actually pushed the resolution even higher for this game, and to what end? More frame tearing? Why the fuck would you do that? It's just dumbfounding.

I'm not buying this game. Ever.

You couldn't be more wrong post spec 2.0

Though somethings don't seem right. I can't for the life of me get a stock GT86 to get sideways on CS tyres which should be a match for its stock tyres in real.

Real-life counterpart for Toyo at FT86 would be Comfort Hard (CH/N1) and not Comfort Soft.

: \
Is it somewhat good at least?
Are they all new? And you mean in the EU/US versions, right? Not only the Japanese one.

Friend ulocked it at EU/PAL version of the game (1.00, I don't know has anything changed with 1.01, but I doubt)

I have to ask this again, because I was really hyped when they showed that screenshot.
We're talking about car damage that is carrying over from race to race, giving you a real feel about the whole car ownership philosophy.
Is that only visual damage? I could kiss a wall a bit too hard and the side would deform a bit, but I wouldn't get any tire or suspension damage? It's not mechanical in any way?

Yes, I am talking about that.

We all saw that screenshot Goldrusher posted above. I was so happy it comes to the game. When I got 1.00 disc, there was no Body Repair option.

In Wednesday, the official in-game online manual became available. It still says this:

Damage, Dirt and Deterioration

The distance you have driven in a car is displayed on the odometer. Driving over long distances causes engine condition, oil condition and body rigidity to gradually deteriorate. This is known as "deterioration". Your car's body will also get dirty, and may suffer dents or scratches as a result of collisions or crashes. This is known as "damage". If your car has suffered damage or if its condition has started to deteriorate, please visit the Pit Service in order to repair your car.

Deterioration and damage are dealt with in the following ways, depending on the race mode:

Career Mode
Deterioration and damage incurred while racing remains once a race is complete. If you cancel a race before it is finished, your car's condition will deteriorate, but damage will be reset.
Free Run
Your car will incur deterioration and damage while driving, but as soon as you quit the Free Run, the damage will be reset.
Arcade Mode
Your car will incur deterioration and damage while racing, but both deterioration and damage are reset as soon as you select "Quit" from the Race Menu.

However, V1.01 is here and there is still no Body Damage option despite Manual says it should be there, with good integration design IMO

It's as he said - newly purchased cars always got a power bump from an oil change in GT5. Bit of a hassle to do it for every one.

Wasn't that only for Standard cars though? The ones bought from the Used Dealership with miles already on them?

I don't remember the oil change trick working on Premium cars, but maybe I'm wrong.

Oh I forgot to add, in addition to cockpit only, I am also using my G27 100% of the time. I have no idea how much some of the handling characteristics translate to DS3.

I'm really trying to convince myself that the manual is speaking about mechanical damage as well (like suspension problems I mentioned), but I feel like it's again only about body rigidity and oil change and not something that will affect the performance of the car in a more direct way.

Is the tearing/framerate better in bumper cam vs. cockpit?

I don't like half my screen being covered up, anyway ;P

I don't understand how the framerate is worse when half the screen is covered in the first place. Surely it should be even better? Of course, I've never made a game in my life so I don't have the faintest idea :p

I wonder if you get a decent framerate in cockpit view with a Standard car. A black hole instead of an interior should free up some PS3 power.

I agree Gutterboy. The game feels old the minute you start the first race. It's a combination of factors that make you feel like progression has been marginal.

A fully modeled car interior typically has more polygons than just a hood.

I'm enjoying it a lot so far. Just wish the career races actually felt like races though.

Has anyone actually seen an AI overtake another?

Little is the new Big
Last minute change of plans, not getting the game. I'm really sad right now but I'll just have to power through and just wait for GT on PS4 I guess... fml.

I'm really looking forward to this game, but the one reason I've preferred Forza lately (and would have gotten Forza 5 if I got an Xbox One) is that me and my fiancee can play splitscreen and use any car right out of the box.

It is the only thing that will likely hold my enjoyment of this game back, as we don't like to play single player modes when we could play together.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
Gonna go pick up my copy now.

As I predicted. scores would be low and in the 8s claiming the game hasn't changed much at all.

I was just doing a license test when this line with a name from someone on my friends list started racing me... ! WIN!

About time GT got into the social scene a bit. Makes taking licenses so much more fun.

Doesn't GT6 have a split screen mode? Unless you're talking about having all cars unlocked for arcade/free drive, which I believe is no longer the case for Forza 5.

Really? I thought a sports car would come with at last CS tyres, not economy?... Guess it would explain it but seriously? I find it so hard to beleive it comes standard with eco tyres or something similar. There are a few around here, I'll have to take a look at what they are running.

Mmhhhh... reading the thread I'm having second thoughts as well, should I not open it and return it?
I still play GT5 from time to time, but it sucks the game hasn't improved in the areas I'm most interested in (arcade races giving money, framerate, AI, standing starts in career mode, proper functioning clutch support for my G27, faster loading with full install, mechanical damage in career mode, compelling career mode). I appreciate better standard cars, but framerate being worse is inexcusable, way to have your priorities wrong PD :(
On the other hand I'm very interested in participating in NRL, but I haven't heard anything so far and GT5 NRL is mostly dead.

What should I do? Man returning it would be a bitch, on the other hand those €59 could go towards a WiiU... I'm already selling my PS4s this week, I dunno if I can endure another much-awaited gaming thingie taken away from me without playing with it, lol :p

There are standing starts in career mode, I just did one!
In a Go-kart...

Also, the short loading time has been one of the highlights so far. Mind you how much of that is down to my new SSD I don't know, but some races go from main menu to starting the race in like 10-15 seconds, it's insane!

I think Metalmurphy was going to set up the NRL again, but he got banned for something so...

Yeah, I mean being able to drive every car in the game in splitscreen mode right away. Don't you have to unlock them or something? Maybe I'm remembering wrong...

Chase cam looks like trash again. Ugh. Think I'm gonna have to pass on this. Everything else looks so good, but I don't really enjoy racing games from any other perspective.

I haven't noticed any frame rate issues, but I use bumper cam. Not sure what people were expecting out of the PS3, but game looks and runs great at 1080p for the hardware it's on.

- If you want a solid frame rate, switch to 720p (see Digital Foundry).
- AI has been improved, it just isn't overly aggressive like some other racers.
- The loading and UI in general is considerably faster. The first time you load anything it installs while it loads, which could explain why some people are mentioning slow loads.

They need to drop the resolution. Frame rate is too spotty. Too much shit pops in. Resolution of shades on course is reduced when at a distance. It's very noticeable stuff. They need to do what Turn 10 did. And cut corners on resolution to make the damn thing stable and tolerable.

You now Kaz rolls. Fuck stability, let's burn this PS3 to the ground and see where we go from there.

So is the Mercedes Benz Vision car a freebie? It says "accept as a gift" but I'm worried it means the free million I got with the pre-order.

I clicked on Vision GT and MY BODY WAS NOT READY, that was pure filth of the highest order, I had minors watching and everything!

I can see reviewers point of view, where the game feels like it's more of re-jiggle of everything for the better overall, rather than vast improvements across the board, and that lighting, man it's almost a semi-blessing in disguise that Driveclub got delayed otherwise this day-night would have come off as less impressive.

I love how much they are pushing, but there was no need for a resolution increase if the performance is worse than GT5's.

I don't love that they push stuff to this extent. Priority should always be stability, PD needs to get their heads out of their ass when it comes to this.

Free. It's a gift.

Could be the preparation for gt7. The tesselation design change implemented can't only be for gt6. So I'm hoping that they are trying alot of new techniques this time around for ps4

yeah, i don't get why they'd increase the resolution. why not just focus on getting the most performance out of the slightly resolution they were using with gt5? weird decision.

all vision gt cars are free.

By all means, they can plan ahead for the future. But don't wreck my experience in trying to do so.
