A couple of you guys need to turn down the hyperbole, damn.

Anyways, I never dabble in these things, but being able to use my 360 TE arcade stick is great to read for whenever I pick up the XB1.

this was inevitable. someone who was working on console emulators said that once they cracked the xbox one and ps4, it would be easy to make a emulator for them on PC

PS4 was supposed to get broken into first right?

I wonder how powerful a computer you'd need to emulate the one and ps4. Considering that 360 and PS3 still don't have emulators and are considered unemulatable.

Would be nice if it works without issue (lag, input drop on other controllers etc.)

Use an XB1/X360 controller with a PS4

Use a DS4 controller with a XB1

And so on

Tons of misinformation bouncing around in this thread, so I'm gonna try to clear up some things based on what I know/suspect.

- This is a converter, not a mod. This will not lead to Xbone "hacks." This will not aid piracy. This will not aid homebrew. Thread title is misleading and should be changed to something like "Xbox One USB converter unlocks support for KB&M, DS4 and more."

- This converter works as a passthrough. I can't be 100% sure, but it should essentially work like a pad hack for an arcade stick; a legit Xbone controller is used for authentication, while the converter takes the input signals from whatever you have, converts the value into what the Xbone expects, then sends it to the console. The "scan for inputs, then convert, then send" step may introduce some lag, although lagless converters are already available for PS3 and 360. However, the authentication should mean that the console will not be able to tell the difference between a CronusMAX and an Xbone controller, so it will likely not be patched out. That is an assumption, however.

- The advantage of using a mouse instead of an analog stick to aim comes from the fact that games use translation data from the absolute position of a mouse over time to calculate how far, and in what direction, to aim. Your mouse is at point Y; 1 ms later, it is at point Z; it moved X amount in W direction, so that is how much your aim should be adjusted right now. On an analog stick, you move the stick, and your aim is altered by a fixed amount every time the game updates depending on how far the stick is from center. Your aim speed increases from slow to fast at the same time. On a mouse, your aim speed is as fast as you can move your mouse. The key is this: changing the input method does not change the interpretation method. The game will not suddenly aim as fast as you can move your mouse just because you used a converter instead of a gamepad. Even if you throw your mouse across the mousepad as fast as you can, your aim will never move faster than it would if you simply held the analog stick at the edge of its rotation. Thus, there is no advantage for mouse and keyboard players using a converter over gamepad players.

And for some conjecture...

There is little practical reason for MS to not, at least unofficially, continue to allow 360-licensed controllers to work on Xbone. The fact that they're licensed for 360 means that they meet a certain input method standard; they'll have all the same buttons the Xbone controllers have. At the very least, they'll know what the hell all the buttons do automatically. The PS4 allows developers to support PS3 controllers, even though they might not necessarily be supported in the OS for navigating menus just yet. So for people who want to use arcade sticks, for example, no extra hardware is necessary on PS4 (assuming developers support the old stuff).
What about turning up the sensitivity?

I wonder if the USB adapter I have could also bypass whatever handshake the PS4 has. It worked when using a 360 controller on the PS3...

Hurry up and restock, Amazon!

Anyone got one yet and confirm how it works with any arcade stick on killer instinct? If it works can u buy 2 for 2 player on the XB1? Can't watxh the video now as I'm at work.

I'm no expert, but I'd guess a computer to fully emulate either console would need a lot more power than is currently available. I'd guess that you'd have to brute force games because they would lack driver support.

If the games are coded for a similar architecture though, I don't suppose it's possible to hack a game to bypass whatever makes it only work on consoles and make it run on a PC, or do you have to sort of fully "replicate" the console within the PC?

What sucks is that this allows for easily macroing as well. So some people buying this just to use their old fightsticks will end up macroing because they can.

What about turning up the sensitivity?

A friend has a XIM for the 360 that I tried out. The people that work on XIM put a lot of effort into algorithms on a per game basis that help overcome the fact that you are just controlling a thumbstick with a mouse. But yes, I know they do that by maxing out the sensitivity and working back from there.

It's still not 1:1 mouse movement, but I tried it for a bit and it felt pretty nice. Leagues better than actually using a controller.

He's a very competitive gamer and he just mops up the servers using that thing.

Original Xbox was the golden age of console modding for me. I had so much fun installing modchips, flashing tsops, playing emulators and using XBMC. I still use my OG Xbox to stream to. Xbox360 is finicky sometimes.

Well, that makes MS just look like complete dicks now.

Taking out support for controllers even though the console is perfectly able to handle them (as proven by this mod).

Exactly! When I went to one of the Xbox One road tours about a month back or so, there was some guy that just walked up and hooked up his customized Xbox 360 arcade stick to one of the Xbox One's (Dev Kit) to play Killer Instinct and it worked perfectly fine.

But, mysteriously, all of a sudden, "they don't work with retail units". Uh-huh, nice try, Microsoft!

What about turning up the sensitivity?

It's lever throw distance input vs point to point distance input. The former has a maximum (and minimum, considering dead zones). The latter has a minimum dependent on hardware accuracy and an arbitrary maximum.

Even if the sensitivity is maxed out, you still aren't getting the same sort of aiming out of a converter that you would from a game that has proper support. The best the converter can do is translate your mouse movement distance into different lever throw values over time, and you'll end up with pretty janky aiming all the same.

I see your point but, I see this being an issue only if you're trying to to do a quick 180 or something along those lines. When aiming down the sights or hip firing it won't be all that different from any other PC fps.

I ordered one yesterday morning so I could use my TE stick for Killer Instinct. Its already shipped, hopefully I will get it by the end of the week.

I'll keep you guys posted with impressions.

Where did you order from? I hope you ordered a "CronusMax" and not a "Cronus" like the one that is listed on Amazon. I'm pretty sure that's an older model that likely won't support the Xbone.

Any reason why this wouldn't work with racing wheels?

And Microsoft, you greedy lying bastards. Seems there isn't a technical reason why legacy controllers won't work with the Bone after all...

Why is there 2 cables connected?

One goes to Xbox, and the other goes to?

If it need a persistent connection to a PC, will be a deal breaker.

It's from the Cronus people? Be careful with this. Their stuff just doesn't work sometimes. My friend picked up one of their convertors for the 360/PS3 and it worked fine, so I decided to get one and it didn't work at all. His worked fine on my systems and everyhing but mine just didn't. Their customer service is really bad from what I can tell too. They don't return phone calls or reply to emails AFAIK.

I'd wait for a more reliable company but this is a good sign for future convertors.

Do I win a prize for talking about my penis on the Internet???
Any reports on the possible lag?
This is what I want to know as well, I have PS3 TE stick that I would love to use for KI. Really hoping this converter ends up being lagless, if it is lagless then itll sell gangbusters. Alot better than dropping 200 bucks for a TE2.

Just been reading through this thread and i dont think people understand the difference between a mod...and a hack

This is not a Hack or a Mod

It is a device that that allows you to use your 360/DS4 or mouse and keyboard with your xbox one...this can be quite a benifit to those that have special controls made for them on 360 hardware...fight sticks..or even steering wheels can be used on the 360 as a result of this device

You can also use this device to remap the buttons and stick functions on your controller
to something you like....how many times have you played BF4 and wished you could map your own keys for when you are flying choppers...this device allows you to do so and hot swap between different controller maps.

The mouse and Keyboard support is not perfect with this device however and people are simply using this device in conjunction with other mouse and keyboard adaptors which smooth out the experience..one of these devices is the XIM units...they currently dont support the xbone or ps4 but people are using the cronos as a piggy back unit to allow then to use the device.

These sorts of devices will not get you banned from xbox live
Here is Microsoft replying back to a question of if they will be banned using a xim3
http://www.xim3.com/community/index.php?topic=9535.0

In addition to this the cronos does allow you to program some macro functions to buttons such as rapid fire...360 jumps ect...while a majority of these may seem like hacks you will also not get banned for using them.

Also

Here is One of the deluxe controllers out there which allows you to create all sorts of macro functions and play them back with the press of a button
http://www.viking360.com/

You will also not get banned for using one of these

Developers may patch in certain blocks to limit rapid fire or quickscoping but the only way you will get banned is if you are exploiting a glitch in the games mechanics like sky walking or one of those predator missile glitches from a few cods backs..or you have a modded xbox like a Jtag and are running xp lobbies or some other non developer game mode.

As bad as it sounds modded controllers/macros/mouse and keyboard adaptors are not considered hacks

People are free to jump around like idiots and rapid fire people to death and not get banned....i have never seen MS ban someone for using a modded controller or device that allows you to control the game outside of the standard controls....in all cases you will find they got banned for

1) Boosting
2) Trying to exploit a glitch like an invisible wall..skywalking..no reloading
3) Abusive language
4) Offensive Gamertags or Pictures
5) Playing in a hacked lobby or using a hacked xbox for Aimbots..ect

One of the reasons why MS will probably never ban these sorts of devices is there are people out there that use these devices not to play cod or bf4..but to actualy play a game with a disability or to simply remap the keys so they can play it differently

Things like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsq1QivsGek
Or this
http://rjcooper.com/game-controller/

May be very crude examples but they are controllers designed to help people play games that have a disability.

For me personally....i hate the Ds4...you can probably look up my posts on this rather than being accused of trollbait but one of the major issues is i have big hands and my thumbs hit when flying jets or choppers in bf4...the mappings they have in this game dont fix the issue..i like the stick firmness compared to the xbone and i like the triggers and dpad.

With a device like the cronos i can remap the control so this does not happen and i get to utilise the better Dpad and triggers compared to the standard Xbone controller.

Im personally very excited to see the new controllers and devices that will be coming out.
