Soul Sacrifice Delta, a standalone expansion (not a sequel) to the original game, will be officially released in Japan on March 6, 2014. You can find the demo in the JP PS Store now (ソウル・サクリファイス デルタ 「共闘」体験版). The demo supports online multiplayer.

Post your impressions!

For international Vita owners with a Japanese account and an extra memory card, here is a guide on account switching on the Vita: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=46875950&postcount=18580

I heard that they got rid of the PSone-ish ground textures. they didn't

I'll switch vita account and try to see this in person.

It's not native resolution. :(

I don't have much time to play today, but I'll post some more screenshots tomorrow.

Oh fuuuuuck, I can't find my 4GB spare memory card :(

But I imagine the game will look pretty much the same, right? Just with new spells, monsters, missions, and other tweaks.

The floor textures do look slightly better than I remember them to be. The devs probably tweaked the graphics a little bit.

They already said this is more of a teaser for the actual sequel they are making. Its basically a GOTY edition with some extra tweaks just to make money off all the new Vita owners in Japan.

Cleared the first 2 quests (Fairy trash mobs and Snow White) and am currently in the middle of the fight with the Red Riding Hood.
Game looks a bit better and the improvements to the UI and skills feel nice, but despite getting platinum in the vanilla SS I don't know if I'll get this one.
Something feels a bit off after playing MH4 and GE2 for a long time.
:/

Ground textures is still very horrible.

that djmizu guy on twitter lied :/
They look much better than in the original game imo.

Okay, I've cleared the demo.
Hard to switch back to SS, but the game feels like an improvement over the first one. Hope it won't be a full price release, since it will probably feel more like an expansion pack.

So is it the same story as the first? Same "missions" and that sort?

I guess this adds a side story or something?
To be honest aside from playing the demo during the TGS and now I didn't really care that much for the information about the game.

Whew, I found my spare mem card and tried out the first 3 missions. I like that the demo starts you off with a bunch of spells, a few black rites, a few partners, and level 10 in life and magic. I haven't figured out what the green option does though... >_>

Green replenishes your magic and adds both Order and Chaos xp. As for the souls, you randomly get the blue or the red one.

I will give the game another chance with this version. Really thought the original was mediocre as !@#$.

My GF just came back from Japan and unfortunately FFX-2 HD isn't out yet. That's the only Vita I want to get in the future.

Meanwhile I have been playing Sonic Transformed and doing the World Tour on Expert. Runs smoother than the 360 version, but it has bugs everywhere, physics issues causing super crashes and the boost at the start of the race is bugged that you go insanely fast if you hold a red boost from the 3.

This reminds me that I need to get on and finish the original. Soul Sacrifice is one of my Games of the Year. It's a true masterpiece of interactive fiction.

Looks like it's finally time to use my backup memory card!
Looking forward to finally trying out Delta and seeing some of the changes.

Regarding the data transfer from the previous game:
According to the official site it's possible to transfer the following:
- Spells
- Clothes
- Seals
- Tears
- Story progress

There will be differences in unlocking some stuff but they will provide the details later.

There's also an over 60 differences between SS and SSD page but to be honest I don't feel like translating it all now, lol.

Pics look really cool. I need to order some new headphones for my Vita so I can start playing this again. I've already got that operatic tune playing in my head. I'm near the end though and things were pretty tough.

Does this new expansion have any story or is just more bosses straight up?

I really like the mole claw with swords combo.

More story, bosses and even music.

The game is not native res. Guess they have time to optimize till march. The game is definitely rendering at a higher res than vanilla SS.

Example of Librom.

Plus they have added texture filtering. No more PS1 textures lol.

Is spell and sigil earning disabled in the demo? I cannot find the spells I earn at end of quests.

is melee any good now? i stopped playing SS after only a few hours when i realized the melee was balls

That's a lot of improvements. Some notable ones that I saw using google translate was:
-Lots of different ways to combine offerings and attacks. (Already seen a few in videos online, and it's damn sexy!)
-The ability to reverse look up offerings to find a quest (super useful).
-NPC's are more intelligent. Besides better attacking and evading behavior, they will help you with combo attacks.
-When you become a soul you can haunt a player and see the battle through their eyes (like a spectator mode?).
-As a soul there are more ways to influence the battle by using offerings in the background of the stages.
-MOAR MUSIC!!

The screenshots posted here look native res. This is good.

So, SS Delta is like Dragon´s Dogma: Dark Arisen and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to the original
(as in original game+ extra stuff ?) ?

Or is it a standalone expansion pack ?

I´m confused.

The ai is definitely improved, on point with healing and keeping themselves alive.

Oh wow. Better AI and more attack options are pretty great improvements. The improved graphics are great also. I'll buy this on day one anyway, such is the love I bear the original.

??? Really? When I died and went into soul form I notice I could still fight if I used items from the world which was pretty cool.
