I bought KoDP in the sale but haven't really gotten into it yet, from what I've played so far though it looks very deep.

Care to explain the ''failure simulator'' comment? ;)

Well, if you win the 'long game' mode, you have my respect :)

The game is brutal sometimes (more often than not in my case)...or I'm just not good at it (won several short game tough).
I'm not fond of the resources management in the game, but it's a great game, very deep with ton of content and the dev (who helped to craft Battle of the Bulge too, and he always beat me at it too :P) is a real myth (he personally burnt CDs to customers back in the days).

So you don't like XBLA or PSN games as well I take it?
Every game on XBLA works like that, trial lite/demo version for free and then you unlock the full game for a set price.

I've literally never heard of ANYONE being a fan of micro$, lol

Junk Jack X and Terraria sound right up your allie.

As far as adventures go I'd recommend Limbo, The Last Express, Gemini Rue and Machinarium for a start,

I haven't bought anything on psn. And probably wouldn't on xbla. I don't trust either psn or xbla to actually keep games on their servers for more than 4 years.

Just made Tiamat my bitch on my 4BB/Master run in Final Fantasy 1. I did a bit of powerlevelling, and at level 45 my team is seriously wrecking everything. And I've found all the Ribbons, so at least 3/4 of my team is immune to the more pesky status effects like Stone and Poison.

Wish there was something better than hi-potion though. I go through those fairly quickly.

Next up: Chaos!

): I guess this is how Android users who like to game on their phone feel when a game they want releases first on iOS and at some unknown point in the future for Android re:FFVI ): 😔😭

The way some developers use - or rather abuse - push notifications is so goddamn annoying. Yesterday I received a notification from Lost Toys:
Did you know you could use the (?) button to get hints?

Who would've thought that! And you're telling me this now while I'm not playing the game because..?

I never allow puush notifications from games.

Yup. There's nothing a game can tell me that's important enough to warrant a notification.

Many (most) send you push alerts without your permission, that's why I just delete them. It's like a reminder to delete this game I no longer play

In my experience, every game asks for permission. I'm almost sure Apple doesn't allow apps to send push notifications without authorization.

I wish Super Stick Golf 2 had some sort of chat feature. Just bombed my last hole against Heel and really wanted to make fun of myself for it.

Final Fantasy VI is coming today for Android devices, but Square Enix doesn't confirm the release to iOS yet :(

Another new screens.

I wish they'd go back and update Chrono Trigger to be universal.

Any game with abusive notifications is an insta delete on my iPhone/iPad.

Yeah, I usually allow notifications for games just out of curiosity what they might possibly send. Of course I immediately disable them when it's spam or bullshit like this.

There is on the left side when you highlight a multiplayer game. Not the best implementation.

lol did you see my miracle shot through that tiny hole under the moving block? Shoulda saved a replay.

I'm not sure if I 'get' Collasatron. Do you actually do anything in that game other than dragging the parts onto the worm and matching colours? I'm on world 2 and that's literally all I've done

Couldn't resist...got The Banner Saga.

Damn....the game is GORGEOUS (and fantastic on the whole, really FANTASTIC).....I sooooooooooooooooo want to play it on iPad....I hope you guys are right and they are porting it fast...dunno how long I can resist not playing it (even if having it on my macbook means I can't really play it when I have time to do so).

It's like it is meant to be played on the gorgeous iPad screen in bed at night with headphones.

Did I mentioned it is GORGEOUS?

I hope it comes to the iPad because I'd be able to play it a lot more than when I'm home.

They do? I can't even remember the last gaming notification tbh.

I play a lot of mp games, and often when they ask for permission I'm not sure it has mp or not. Of course, a good indication of a crap game is abusive notifications so I'm happy to delete them.

I find 'amusing' the pure HATE that drips from Playdek' Unsung Story kickstarter comments (and NeoGAF too) against iOS and in particular the fact the dev is known (and appreciated) on iOS.
How DARE they to make a game they would probably absolutely love and back up no questions asked.
First on iOS too, LOL.
It's like they killed their children.

Personally I think the game will undoubtly gain a TON if the PC/Vita/3DS kickstarter is succeful and I hope to see it, even if admittedly they didn't show absolutely anything and it's a pretty huge change from previous games (2D boardgames)....Matsuno being the real (only) traction right now.

Anyway...really looking forward to it.
Playdek being a solid dev (can't even think how much I played Ascension) and FFT being one of my best gaming experience of all time make it a no brainer.

If the game is great it will be because of Matsuno the deity. If it sucks it will be because of iOS and Playdek the mobile "game" dev. You know that.

Unsung Story is going to be amazing. Screw the haters. Matsuno's strength was always world building and game/scenario design. I'm glad he is in that role leaving the crunching of bits and bytes to playdek.

Play Tactics Ogre on PSP if you can. IMO MUCH better game than FFT. Matusno is a genius. If Im only a bit bummed is that I don't dig Playdek games in terms of visuals. Matsuno, Yoshida and Sakimoto should always make games together.

Everything besides backgrounds still looks disgusting, and I see they've managed to make reading your party's HP/MP values even harder than it was in the original game. Complete lose-lose.

I wanted to finally play and finish number 6 but I am not paying for this. It looks revolting. I am not expecting SE to cop the f*** on anymore, but charging 16 euro for this is borderline... ugh, I'm not even going to bother.

That and the micro-management in between.

And targeting things with long presses.

I think it's fun...

Edit: You progress also. You get to try different weapons every day with the opportunity to unlock them permanently.

It's a tower defense game, where your towers move around the map and you upgrade them with a match-3 mechanic. Think of it like that

I haven't bought anything on psn. And probably wouldn't on xbla. I don't trust either psn or xbla to actually keep games on their servers for more than 4 years.

Let's try this:
Same game, same content as a full game for $5.
Two different kinds of delivery
Please explain what's the difference between the method which costs you $5 to dl the game blind, and the other where a game comes as a meaty (free) demo so that you can actually try the game out before buying it and then and lets you unlock the full content with a one-time $5 payment if you want the rest.
Tell me what is is that you despise so much about the latter method and why the former would instead be preferrable and ok with you.

Hell, I wish full retail games were actually like that: let me play a couple of hours worth of gameplay and if I like it enough I'll pay $59 or whatever to unlock the full game and keep my save.

This is just my take on his viewpoint, I could be wrong..

If iTunes would ever go away as an ecosystem, just gone, *poof!*, then you wouldn't be able to play IAP unlockable games outside of the demo mode (without some to be honest really easy reverse engineering) unless you kept those games perpetually installed on a iOS device from the beginning. That would be the difference since you can locally back up upfront "full games" and re-install them.

Personally, considering how easy it is to reverse engineer iOS things if one really wanted to, the fear of loosing access to games due to IAP server authentications going the way of the dodo in some far off hypothetical future is a bit moot and if one were to have this stance, then no digital delivery platform is really safe to use.

Shadow Blade is really addictive. I've already completed half of the hardcore challenges and the entire first chapter with 3 sta... shurikens! I feel like the game resembles mirror's edge in a way. You can be terrible at it and the game's flow will be greatly impacted or you can pull off every move perfectly and it'll look really slick. The animations and control are perfect too.

I'm fairly certain both platforms will let you redownload content you've purchased previously even if said content is no longer available for sale, and both platforms have been around far longer than 4 years without having had massive chunks of their library vanish.

So that's twice now I've discovered a TA member on GAF because they copied their post. First Pitta, and now killercow. Somehow, I never connected that you were the same people. I'm Bronxsta on Toucharcade.

Glad to see Shadow Blade living up to the hype. Still got three hours to wait

BG2 sounds packed with content- quite the steal! Can someone give me the file size? I'm
on my phone so I can't check the store.

I'm only up to level 3 of Shadow Blade and this game is fantastic. Swipe controls are iffy, but the virtual buttons are responsive. Gameplay is fast and fluid, with satisfying blood spray and great animations. Less of a stealth game, more of a fast paced platformer with some light stealth mechanics. Despite an attack button, this isn't a fighting game where you're pulling off cool moves. The enemies are more like obstacles. If you're stopping to fight them, your timing's off. The difficulty is in the platforming and getting faster times and smoother attempts. Like League of Evil, but with more blood and a badass ninja. Clearing a level in one fluid attempt feels so good. I'd definitely recommend Shadow Blade for any fan of platformers
