Is there a particular reason Swat 4 isn't on GOG?
Its part of the activision catalog and 3 is on there.

Since Blackguards was released on GOG, Daedalic are promoting it by giving 40k GOG codes of The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav away and doing an AMA.

Licensing for that game is kind of crazy.
Direct2Drive was the only site that had it. Then they were bought out by Gametap. Gametap shut down D2D's authentication servers and SWAT 4 is now 100% unplayable unless you had the game installed prior to the shutdown.
Gametap has sat on it ever since.
So I get a little crazy when people blow off installation DRM with "IT"S NOT LIKE I"LL EVER LOSE MY INTERNET"

I hope one day GoG gets some titles from Konami and Koei. Specially all 3 Yu-gi-oh: Power of chaos, which were fun.
Woah! DROD on GOG?
I've been playing the series for a decade. Best puzzle game ever. I hope it gets the popularity it deserves.
The fourth is coming in a couple of months too.
Fifth, actually.
Or is Gunthro not counted as a main game?
Yo what's this Silver game? It kinda reminds me of FF7 graphics-wise, anyone care to share impressions of it please?

GOG.com was quite a niche when it started out, since it specialised in classic games, and it still is in many ways. Do you see a future where bigger publishers start releasing newer games on GOG while being completely DRM-free?
Yes, weve already started with newer games, and theyre mostly indie games, but the bigger games will be coming. Obviously this year there will be The Witcher 3, but were looking at big publishers joining. I definitely see GOG.com as the ultimate place for games without DRM and one day I would like to have all games there for people to play the way they want to play and really to feel like they have complete ownership.
With the big companies, the concern is always that, hey, they might pirate it, but they have to understand that people can pirate regardless; its one click away. People buy games because they want to, not because they have to, and this is very much what GOG is about. Its freedom - freedom of the way you play, where you play, and how you play. At the same time, right now were working a lot on the convenience of...I cant talk about it just yet, but there will be lots of things happening over the year with GOG. Were working on something big that well be announcing in the first half of this year.

Oh, hey, nifty, I got included as an Icewind Dale quote.
I can definitely give you a better quote than that if you want one too.
Also could definitely give one for Icewind Dale 2 as well.
I really love the Icewind Dale games.
GOG Starts DRM-Free Time Machine Sale Tomorrow That Lets Gamers Extend Or Kill Deals
Daav Valentaten / 1 hour ago
Starting tomorrow, digital distribution storefront Good Old Games, which you all know as GOG.com, will launch a DRM-Free Time Machine Sale. It will, once more, give its community some agency over the deals that are running for a ton of classic PC titles.
By voting, people can add or subtract a second to any currently running sale. Additionally, it’s possible to purchase a game and add some time to the total of the deal as well.
This promotion is in a similar line as its Insomnia Sale, where a limited amount of keys would be up for grabs, instantly shifting to another discount once the current game was depleted. It’s GOG.com’s modus operandi to find new ways to promote games, much like a charity-driven sale before that. We enjoy that news a lot more than their recent forced removal of Fallout games from their catalog.
If you want an exact time to start checking and burden the servers, the sale starts on January 28, 2014 at 2PM GMT, which is also 9AM EST. Games will include Wizardry, Deus Ex and Legend of Grimrock, which might receive a price cut as deep as going for $0.59.
A short trailer for the DRM-Free Time Machine Sale can get you pumped already.

too true, still funny.
So when does it start exactly? Do we know?

Two and a half hours from this post.
Battle Isle Platinum
Any game that lets you drive a Technotrax is good by default, but the Battle Isle games still represent some of the best hex based strategy gaming you will find. Battles are challenging and massive in scale, sometimes taking hours to resolve. At least check out 2 and 3 or Battle Worlds if you need something more modern.
Maan, I still remember when game magazines pitted SiN head to head with Half-Life 1 as the contenders for the ultimate single-player FPS experience...
yeah
1998 was 16 years ago
Just noticed Sam & Max Save The World is todays time machine sale title. Is it worth $2.99?

Ah, the heady days of "The Quake 2 Killers". I had always heard Sin was a broken mess at launch, any truth there?
Holy shit. I'm buying this one. Nice to see something interesting getting released again. Sin might've been a mess back when it was first released, but it was a great game once it was patched up.
Now that they have Ritual Entertainment on-board, I wonder if that means we'll also be able to get Heavy Metal FAKK 2... the Heavy Metal license can't be that expensive to work around, can it?
