This post is being left as a perfect example of the 'wholesome' posters that decided a barrel of hate is better suited for them. Those people who fled as they were the example that everyone should aspire to be. Ladies and gentlemen - these are the heroes

Can someone please summarize the video? I mean, come on, 44 minutes is a bit too long, especially if you just don't care if someone is gay, bi, transgender or identifies as whatever he/she/it wants. People are people. And now?

I'm subbed to Contra and watch her videos on occasion. Caught this one earlier today. Her basic point is that traps aren't gay because to think so would be denying that trans women are "real" women.

I don't really put much stock in the conception of a "real" women or "real" man. Tons of people have extremely arbitrary criteria for what constitutes "real" anything. Typically in this discussion the idea of a "real" man or woman is used to flatten the physical differences between trans women and biological women. I don't agree with that.

I'm perfectly happy to include both trans women and biological women into my subjective conception of what constitutes a "real" woman. But that doesn't mean they're the same thing, they aren't.

That actually seems to miss the mark. I took her point to be that if you are attracted to someone because you perceive them as female, or for their feminine traits, that's inherently "not gay".

There's a lot of discussion beyond that, generally examining a lot of the general questions and misconceptions around how cis/hetro men and trans women relate and why the whole notion of a "trap" is an issue, but that's the big takeaway.

I think the general conception of "real" woman or man is the biological origin of him or her. The biological sex is the foundation of the argument. To me, I don't think I can ever consider a trans person to be their preferred post-surgery sex no matter how natural they behave/look. It's something I cannot erase from my mind, that notion that this or that person was originally male or female. Though of course I will still use their post-surgery sex to refer to them out of respect, but the idea that they were born with a certain gender will always be there, as its something we cant choose.
 
I can only say 'does it matter?'

It's just a label. Marry who you wanna marry, fuck who you wanna fuck. Does it make any difference if someone puts a label on it?

Like is it really going to change who you are attracted too because 'oh no I'm not / I am [insert label here]' I don't know why everyone is desperate to apply some sort of categorisation to this.

But in all seriousness I like her videos, I don't always entirely agree with them, but I love the presentation and the way the points are broken down, discussed and put forward.

Alternatively I suspect most people don't really care. It pretty much a "what does Jah Rule think?" kind of question.
