I do understand every community has a set standards of rules and guidlines, I am not seeking 4-chan or 8-chan levels of chaos or I would not have be here seeking something I felt we lost unfairly. This is not pornhub and I am not asking it to be. I think things are still in flux as to what is acceptable anymore on gaming forum and how far people can push and sling accusations or bans because they feel they carry a higher morality.

I agree with the OP we don't know when things will change here, media non grata might become a thing here someday if staff agrees on it someday by popular vote because new members demand it.

I was really happy to go into a Butt thread which I think was meant to be an excise thread to find it turn into the sexaulized reason why humans do butt excersizes. Because as humans many of the things we do everyday honestly are connected to our sexual selves and banning that from our minds is really no in our nature, we can deny it but those excirsizes are done for that effect.

Sexualized anything is a major SIN now. Many things in our lives are driven by it. I am far from a prude I am a painter and artist so I was never one to be sexless and liking eye candy is just an honest thing to me.

I did just get a ban from another gaming forum that had a ban list of games I was not really aware of since I was not on the site often enough to see how the list came into play at a TOS level. But it was a game coming out on Nintendo Switch, and I posted that I am adding the game to my wishlist our of spite that a game like that would be something you can't discuess and I was banned and the reason given was that I was promoting child porn or something to that effect. Which is a very serious insult to me. All of that over some Japanese anime game that has cartoon panties? We have lost our fucking minds over this shit, and even Sony has caved in to that censor it stance so it is not a reach to worry that if GAF has traffic the Staff running GAF might have to cave to that pressure someday.

We have reached a point were gaming forums are banning video games, it is kinda a hard reach when you think Nintendo is allowing a game that is banned on a gaming forum. People want to shape the hobby into something that fits their mindset.

So I am not sure if every gaming forum will someday have to go down this path it seems the internet keeps morphing from these extreme movements. Making any discussion of the hobby we care about no longer any fun because it is all about someone who thinks banning everything they disagree with will make the world a better place. So they keep trying to force everyone to think as they do.


I was watching this girl play Bayonetta 2 on youtube yesterday, she has a gaming youtube channel, and her cleavage is right there for everyone to see nothing you will not see in a public space, not trying to shame her for her gender or eye candy, I just see a normal cute girl. What I had an issue with was that she had to blur out Bayonnetta everytime that hair effect came up. When is she going to cover up her boobs? Why cover up the cartoon fake thing but let your stuff hang out? This madness is worrying.

This is a crazy trend going on in gaming right now, it would be funny if it was not also very scary. Sony caving and setting policy to censor and remove sexualized content in games. Nintendo has to cave sooner or later. I am not sure Bayonetta 3 is going to have hair effects.

Would GAF trade traffic and clicks for a banned sexualized games list too?

I'll speak for myself, I want to have the option of playing a game with fanatasy booties and fantasy boobs, I don't feel my playing those games harms anyone when I am in a mood to play such games. I would like them to be available and I would like to know I have a place where I can post and discuss that game. Is GAF going to be there for that as long as a company like Nintendo allows those games or no laws have been passed to ban cartoon boobs? These games don't even get a sexual rise out of me, I'm not fucking 12 years old but I just find it totally funny that I could hardly discuss Xenoblade 2 without someone talking about how Pyra's boobs ruined the whole game for them.

I would really like it if GAF did not become a place like that a place where the Butt or Tits thread is not allowed. You don't have to become 4-chan I would not be here for that but please don't go down that ban sexualized stuff for the sake of keeping traffic.

Because there is no true morality in banning sexaul images in games. Not while cartoon headshots and cartoon murder are also a morality testing ground. I have plenty of games where I can shoot and kill everyone in a downtown city scape it is all cartoon fantasy I understand that.
But if I want a game where I murder people and it is cool, but if I ask for a game where I can have sex everywhere it is a really bad thing.

Where is my Sexy Time Fortnite? I want me vs 99 pair of fantasy titties. That is what is being banned right now the sex, yet we get angry when politicians say our shooting games cause the school shootings and such. Humans are weird and this is always going to be an issue.

I am not saying I am just a pervert that needs sex or I just want to disrect women, I am just saying games should not be seen as the real world it is a place you can go to escape real life. Our fantasies should not be under the ban hammer. Sony should not be playing an active part in stopping Japanese developers from making my Sexy Time Fortnite if I want to be fantasy fucking instead of fantasy killing.

GAF use to be a place for me to escape the crazy shit in my life when I was not playing video games I was here. Sure we had politics and we had our share of assholes like every other community. We are all assholes sometimes, I know I can be. But there was a lot of fun moments here. I would get banned for saying silly shit at times, but it was never because I liked Bayonetta's ass and boobies.

Many huge world events was discussed here, I remember spending 9/11 here. I have a lot of really good memories on GAF but also spent some very deeply sad moments here too. It was my community, It did not take much to take all of that away.

I understand you guys have been rebuilding a long time now. I don't think it will ever be the same because just being here means I chose a side to stand on, which means I am standing against something to be here. To be honest it is no longer about the games I enjoy.

It is fair to ask what will GAF become in all of this. I just hope the Staff understands we need a place to discuss all of this as it relates to the hobby or the OT extensions of our day to day. A community to share your mind without fear.

Mods ban all the time, show me something new. Most of the time forums go through the runner because they're changing, evolving etc. but give me a userbase to build off of. This is why I like GAF more than Resetera, it's always about the games at the end of the day and it's great one on one conversation that doesn't require constant moderation. Is it to the greatest forum ever? It's in a class alright.
 
I love being a GAF member despite Era efforts in the past to brainwash everyone there to believe that you people were all evil beings. I must say good job to everyone who sticked with GAF since the implosion and EviLore EviLore for the endurance and successfully rebuilt GAF after that with the help of the staff and members. Not everyone could turn this thing around.

I just wish I could be here sooner.

I'm....I'm in both groups.
Era started out....ok, but got more and more insane as time passed, the point that I was given repeated bans for 'fear mongering' when explaining something about insurance that a guy had completely wrong. It was actually one of our wonderful mods whom I share a different gaming community with who reintroduced me to Gaf and wow, I should have never damn left.

Like many here, I very much enjoy current GAF.

I can have conversations with other Gaffers on any topic without fear of mod action unless we break the rules. That sounds so silly when typing that out, but it feels very rare on current internets.

I think back to when I started lurking here so very long ago. How special it was and felt unique. That disappeared for a while. It is back to that imo.

I see and/or hear the stories of other sites and they sound like they are run like a shitty game server. Admin banning you for playing well or killing them.

Staff is great and provides so many great things. All the features we currently have. They participate in threads without everyone else worrying.

For those that remember when there was less than 100 people here peak, the Staff took suggestions and still do. It really feels like we didn't just lose the sandy vaginas 18 months ago... but also the ego that would have otherwise stopped us.

Growing more numbers shouldn't scare or worry anyone. We as a community just need to keep and maintain our principles. Not lose sight or touch with what this place is all about, the people here. Not just certain people. Not just the ones who cry the hardest.

Have respect for everyone as a person. Argue with each other over politics, gaming platforms and games, TLJ, and then hug it out in the Butt thread or GAF many great current OT's.

Things have definitely grown. I remember right after the charade the topics would just sit on the first page what seemed like an eternity and wouldn't budge. I remember seeing members online under 100. It was crazy to see, but I was always going to stick to here. Seeing all the lunatics fleeing to their new little echo chamber, no fucking way would I ever dare follow those clowns. They are destroyers, not builders. Look how they run their new home.

It was straight up horseshit what happened, but something good did come out of it. This site got its identity back, the lunatics purged themselves, mods improved beyond anything I could have asked for and the posters can now just be themselves by sharing their actual opinion without having to walk on eggshells. It's been a massive improvement.

It's actually a discussion board where you can actually discuss/debate things, joke around and have fun.
 
having been around as a member for maybe 6 or 7 years now and as a lurker for about as long, I actually won't mind if it's a little busier than this. hell, I remember even back around 2005~10 it's way busier than this and there's just more fun stuff to read...
 
It feels like things are picking up inversely to how Resetera is starting to melt down. Be interesting to come back to this topic in a year.

Sounds crazy, but considering how wacky REEEEEEEE is, can it be possible some of the mods are moles which are purposely killing their forum in hopes people come back here?

HA, funny but not a chance. I don't know about "killing" their forum either. There are plenty of people that just drink in the bullshit they are peddling.
 
I think the puritanical craziness of places like resetera is the one which has its days numbered. It is simply unsustainable. Ubermoralistic groups usually get crushed under their own weight.
 
I don't think anyone should be banned for anything unless they are calling for violence. As much as I disagree with the crazy people on here (Nodody_Important), I think they should be free to say whatever they want without getting banned. I can see myself getting banned in the future because I'm always posting negative stuff 90% of the time, but that's just how I am in real life, I am very critical.

I think GAF is going to ramp up up until 2020. I think as the election gets closer the activity is going to sky rocket, and I expect a lot of REEEEfugees to come over after the great banning that will take place in ERA.

A mix of Bernie Bros and anyone who doesn't think Trump is the devil will probably get banned over there as we get closer to 2020 and they will try to sneak over here.
