First 45 minutes of Returnal

You are saying this like every other $70 game isn't shooting at enemies.
The game does not look 70usd for starters.
And ofc most games are about shooting but I see pattern of balls slowly going on like it's a top down shooter? Don't feel like it fits to the game atmosphere.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I am interested. But not for 70 and mostly because there is not much

This has actually peaked my interest quite seriously it looks pretty good. The game will live or die on how fun it is to control and the combat but the speed she moves is a real plus to me.

thing is I just don't think I want to pay the full price for this game... even the probable jb hifi reduced price... I have credit at my eb games store though and they accept returns.... hmmm might give it a try.

I mean it looks kinda interesting and ok but Enemies shooting slow bullets in a pattern in 70usd game? idk... I kinda wanted to buy this but it looks like people want this only because there is nothing else.
Don't get me wrong.. I love Enter the gungeon and got over 100 hours into it and another 100 in binding of isaac. Well.. we will see
It might sound strange, but this game has sold itself to me on its visuals and atmosphere almost exclusively. $70 is a lot but there's nothing on the horizon I'm interested in beyond RE: Village.

Other factors are:

  • I've played several Housemarque games and their gameplay is always good. It's arcade-like stuff, so maybe that's the disconnect for you.
  • It seems less narrative heavy. It's there but the game isn't trying to be a movie.
  • I want to reward developers who do something a little risky.
  • ...developers who prioritize 60FPS.
  • ...developers who leverage the unique features of the PS5.
  • The game has a pretty unique feel all around and I want to reward that because we need more of it, not less.

It might be a risk for me to buy it, but I'm willing to take it. I'm confident it will be good.
That's surprisingly big. I'm probably gonna get a disc version then but those suits are tempting.

I think the game looks worth 70 dollars "for starters."

People proclaiming the value of a game for others is ridiculous. I'm going to pre-order this game to get the 2 bonus suits and to contribute to supporting smaller studios that do entirely new things. This is exactly what the industry needs, IMO. I might even pony up the extra 10 bucks for the deluxe version just to toss some more coin their way.

This is really good to hear, i suspected the implementation of the triggers would work exactly like this after reading some blogpost mentioning this. I really liked that feature on the Gamecube controller, especially in Metroid Prime, one of those innovations that just disappeared until the Dualsense implemented a more advanced version.

Excellent points. Last night's previews sold me as well.

Housemarque always nails gameplay. The increased immersion with Dualsense and audio are also sellers. Everything about this game looks phenomenal.

People saying this game isn't worth $70...what recent games, say in the last 12 months is worth $60? 'Cause I'll tell you what, I play pretty much all kinds of games but I wouldn't pay full price for 90% of games, and I bet some game you absolutely adore wouldn't be worth $5 to me. What looks like $60? Cyberpunk? Not to me. Never interested me, always thought it looked average and expected a very buggy game and it turned out even worse. Is that what AAA and a game worth $60 or more (Collectors Edition and that sort of shit) look to you? I LAUGH at the shit you people throw your money at. But hey, your taste, your money.

I'm interested to see what you are playing on your ps5....all I can say is thank god I never played ghost of Tsushima and maaan I'm dragging that shit out. An hour every couple of nights haha.

this game looks great but it just doesn't look 60 pound great. Gotta hope for the studio that the current install base will pony up.j

Currently playing the DLC's of Fenyx. I finish my games fast, but totally take my time with them. Problem is I have too much spare time with partial lockdown. Usually don't bother with most non-AAA games, would rather not play them. But there are many good indie games coming though, but most indie games are garbage.

If she's not the lady in this game i think she might file a lawsuit

Very true. It just kept getting better. Also, the more they show the game, the more hyped I get. I'm this close to breaking my 2021-pact of no games at full price. I might cave in now, who knows lol

Also, seems most are ignoring it, the music is absolutely fantastic -- especially during the intro scene. Not just the audio design, but the soundtrack itself.

I'm all around impressed, I must say.

cod cold war is sure as hell worth 80

How did Gamersyde get their sound to be SOOOOO good?

Internal PS5 recording or a good external one, then uploading it on their server instead of youtube with much less compression. Many people destroy their content when editing, as you must render the video and keep the audio as PCM for maximum quality as the one coming from the console itslef.

Seems like it might be interesting...but I thought her running animation looked pretty bad and why does she run so fast?

The game looks worth a buy but not for $109 AUD.. Fuck that!

I think this is a game that some people will buy and not like, not their style or don't like the gameplay loop premise. I'll wait until I can pick up cheaper secondhand on Facebook Marketplace. Which is the reason why I buy disc consoles and not digital.. I'm all pro choice!

Is there tax on US PSN purchases or does $70 = $70? It's the equivalent of $97 in the UK and I'm sure even more in other places.

It Takes Two, which is one of the best games I've played in years, was $35. I know Roguelikes are arguably unlimited in terms of playtime but I tend to play solidly until I get bored of the gameplay loop which never takes that long.

In the US a $70 game is about $75 total for me, but that depends on each state's sales tax. Some states have none even.

This was always a point of discussion.

Some people have problem with the contrast between horror\alien dark atmosphere and the bright colorful bullets from enemies.

Artistically, that's my favorite part about Returnal. Love the contrast and how it pops.

Its also useful game design - makes it easy to see what can kill the player.

AAA Exclusive doesn't make it good. It looks generic as hell. Just trying to justify your $69.99 price tag ? Lmao? Sure Jan.
