I hope Nintendo Direct will not be disappoining

In the last year, for a Switch owner only ( and WiiU before that) , there was not much to play.
I play AC for hundreds of hours, then Paper Mario and Hyrule warriors. That's it.
I haven't buy any of the Ports because i already played them with WiiU.
So i want GOOD news ab NEW games, or i will take a long break.
Nintendo be good, stop the porting phase.
I actually expected to see more games with the fusion between home console and portable, not less.

I honestly haven't really enjoyed a Nintendo Direct since Iwata died. Not sure as to why, they just kinda lost that je ne sais quoi. As long as they give me a decent showing of Breath of the Wild 2, I'll be a happy guy.

Interesting point.
I remember some funny moments after Iwata, but nothing is like when we was alive.
Even the games, i don't see crazy or brave games anymore.
Iwata was really special.

I honestly never even watched any directs until I noticed Iwata in a Luigi hat and decided to finally check one out. When I found out he was the President and was willing to poke fun at himself it really kept my interest and then to learn about him being a humble/responsible President of Nintendo really garnered a lot of respect. Then I found out he was directly involved with The Adventures of Lolo, one of my all-time favorite NES games and it just cemented my love for the guy. Sad when he died.

Def. feels like it took some of the wind out of the sails of Nintendo Directs without him. Not against them in any way, just don't feel that same motivation to watch either.

Expect nothing, at best be pleasantly surprised. As someone who has hanged through the Nintendo shows and this forum (back to gaming-age) back when it was space world/E3, Nintendo is a fucking roller coaster of love/hate. Never believe the rumours, I have a feeling Nintendo will cancel a project if they even get a whiff that it has leaked 🤣

It probably will be, the havent had a great direct since 2018
Which one did you like in 2018? I thought the Feb 2019 one and E3 2019 one were much better than anything in 2018.

You're right. Nintendo has cancelled things because they leaked multiple times.

I used to dream too brother.

lol, I know that feeling. I just want a BotW 2 update.

Iwata was a unique guy given his experience in game development and long history with Nintendo. His passion always came through in the Directs.

I think Sakurai does a pretty good job with his Directs too, but of course he only presents for Smash.

I believe that the disappointment in the Directs started some time after the Switch's momentum/success was cemented. Sometime around or in the middle of year 2, Nintendo Directs began to focus almost exclusively on titles launching in the next few months. Poof. All the excitement and anticipation for titles we'd heard about in the first year became just shadows in the night. No transparency and few updates around those titles. Then, of course, last year we stopped even getting news via Directs giving us a 6 month forecast.

I love Nintendo Directs, but when Nintendo is doing exceptionally well, they want to feed you news at a trickle and keep you focused on a title they're about to release in a few weeks regardless of how you feel about that title or if it even interests you. It's pretty shitty.

Yeah, the drought has been bad :^(

But i imagine Nintendo even more than the western companies has been impacted a lot by Covid, plans delayed, less information out. can't fault them too much

im optimistic though, this year they finally returned to general Directs, and are doing their own segment at E3+Treehouse, some exciting rumors, Nintendo needs a good E3 event to take the spotlight away from PS5Series a little, i think they can do it 👍its gonna be a good show

Nintendo's rabbid fan base is the issue, they could shit in their mouths and they'd still support/defend it.

Nintendo has proven they don't need to do shit and they still make a fuck ton of money.

The issue is fan loyalty and they love abusing it.

For me personally it was the one where the captain toad and tropical freeze ports were announced, and smash ultimate got its first teaser

I've got low expectations this year.

Breath of the Wild 2
Twilight Princess 2
Wind Waker 2
Ocarina of Time full remake
Link to the Past remake ala the upcoming Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Remasters or spiritual successors for the Oracles Games
The third Oracle game
Paper Zelda
Age of Calamity DLC characters are Robbie and Purah
New Monolith Soft Fantasy title
Xenoblade 3
Xenoblade X DE
Xenoblade Warriors
Monolith Soft Golden Sun Revamp
Star Fox on a Mass Effect scale

hmm, seems reasonable.

The last time Nintendo satisfied me was 2 years ago, E3 2019. Since then I only have played LM3 and Links Awakening.

It better be good.

It might be nostalgia but I really miss Rare, they always had something cool in the works. Imagine a new 3D Donkey Kong, Banjo, Goldeneye or whatever always on the way.

Speaking of lowered expectations (let's see how many get this reference!)... I will just be happy if we get any BotW2 news and a release date.

I don't care about Skyward Sword... so of course it will be there.
I don't care about Twilight Princess... so that will probably get a port announcement.
I don't want anymore DK Jungle Beats... so that's definitely getting announced and probably showcased.
I've yet to really invest myself in a Splatoon... here comes a sequel announcement!

We'll probably get some Bayonetta 3 news.
I don't expect to hear anything about Metroid Prime 4. Supposedly we'll get a 2D Metroid.

Yeah, that about sums up my E3 Direct expectations. They already did a Yoshi game. They already did a Kirby game. It's time for a Baby Mario and Baby Luigi super drop dead easy baby adventure game!

When people go on about switch droughts it makes me wonder what the hell they have been playing. There is more to switch than just buying stuff by nintendo in fact i'd say this year alone it's been more games than ever i have picked up but i don't just rely on the stuff nintendo is putting out. Then again i buy from all regions as i can't be bothered buying from just one region and missing out on games.

I'm pretty confident this Direct will at least be good

Just depends on what types of games you like but lots of good stuff coming out soon:

Skyward Sword HD, Pokemon Gen 4 remake, Pokemon LoA early next year, and BotW2 probably coming late 2022 and then other big hitters like Splatoon 3 and Metroid Prime 4 hopefully coming out 2022/2023 (or fingers crossed earlier).

And I'm sure they'll fill some holes in between all of that with other games that are going to be shown at this Direct coming uo.

I miss those days too.

Nowadays, Nintendo would probably veto most of this stuff like they seem to do with Retro Studios and Monolithsoft. Who knows how many untold treasures have gone to the great Git Archive in the sky...

If they announce the Switch Pro I think it will be good because they'll want to entice you to get one or upgrade the one you have with a bunch of cool new games.

It will be "all the stuff you've been waiting for? Here it is!!! And it will run and look better on Switch pro!!".

If they don't announce the Switch pro I expect Smash, Indies, more of those ugly Pokémon Remakes and more overpriced ports.

Nintendo fans! I have good news and bad news. Let's start with the bad news first:

The substance that's dried to a white flaky crust on your switch is not from your chronic masturbation but permanent salt stains left over from your tears after the Nintendo Direct.

Good News: I've already taken the liberty of calling your Moms to arrange for you to get picked up after the show. She will bring your Mario blanket and booster seat so you can look out the window on the ride home.

The hero we need.
you missed MOTHER 3!

How to get fans to bust a nut: (Take notes Nintendo)

Metroid prime 4
Donkey Kong new sequel from retro
A fresh take on star fox that doesn't focus on gimmicks or remakes
3d Metroid or 3d Zelda collection
N64 or Wii mini console
Dark souls 2 remastered
Switch HD/pro reveal
Finish with Botw2 new trailer with gameplay and a spring 2022 release date

You jest, but on some level that actually sounds better than any recent Nintendo Direct I've seen!

This year, I'm actually very interested in the Xbox direct (which I'm normally not), so I'm really ASKING for disappointment this year!

It depends how much of nintendo fan u are, for me i dont hold out much hope from any of the top three to put out anything mind blowing this yr, but youll still get people whooopin and shouting how great the show was even if just a new fighter for smash, im hopeful for splatoon 3 to look a jump above 2, and for microsft and sony hopefully actual gameplay of games and not just cgi etc traillers

Where was that rabbid fanbase when the wii u was alive?

Really this. My interest is almost exclusively limited to games almost certain to see very little visibility this E3. I hope to be surprised by BotW2. I don't even bother much with Elder Scrolls 6 because if that's going to be legit good it needs a long runway to get there. I want more Fable, but again... to get to the level of quality I want out of it needs a long runway. We've just got to be willing to wait. In the meantime, I'll be looking for Forza Horizon 5 and maybe a new Mario Kart or Nintendo Kart racer.

I'm not hard to satisfy, but when you keep me in the dark on news and updates (the way Nintendo does) then I stop playing my Switch and begin to wonder if there will ever be more games of interest for it. And I'm as big a Nintendo fan as almost anyone, but it's just that they're not releasing the kind of games that made me a fan to begin with.
