Dead Space Remake |OT| Dead Face lift

I just read that it (Plasma Rifle) is the worst weapon in the game. Should I respec to put nodes into another weapon? And if so, which one has the best bang for ammo in terms of damage?
I don't think there is a "worst" weapon in the game. It really just depends on your familiarity with a weapon you like and knowing how to play to its strengths. I'm also a plasma rifle enjoyer and found the mines to be extremely useful.

As far as "better" weapons go, I think the Ripper is pretty universal. It has great close-up and mid to long-range utility and does devastating damage when maxed out. I vastly prefer it over the plasma cutter.

Edit: I also saw you ask if the Ripper can kill the gorilla-like monsters; yes, stasis + Ripper makes them a joke.

Fuck impossible difficulty, fuck this permadeath nonsense. Just beat the game today on medium and died a lot of times, I can't even imagine how frustrating Impossible must be. Collecting all the trophies except the one for beating on Impossible right now. Usually I like challenges and I remember I beat the OG game on X360 on the highest difficulty, but the remake is just insane…
Could it be your loadout/choice of weapons? I had 1 failed impossible difficulty attempt from an environment-related explosion death in the remake. Cleared it on my next run without any issues. The costume reward is pretty cool. Not as cool as I had hoped, but I still like it. The deluxe edition suits and soldier armor are much nicer imo.

I need a Pro Patch please! Hell, Callisto Protocol is getting enhanced!
I played it on Series S (which is practically a generation behind base PS5) and the image quality already looks crisp and clean as does the lighting. What is there to really improve?

After beating the game I have to say that my favorite is a combination of two weapons. The wall of fire from flamethrower (to stop and soften up groups of enemies) and mine from plasma rifle (to deal the final blow) combination kills everything that moves in to attack. With the damage upgrades those two can take out the gorillas in a single go with no stasis or positioning required. Of course the contact beam is a better choice in zero gravity or against bosses with specific weak points but I still prefer the mine area of effect when dealing with the moving tentacle fetuses as their projectiles are usually my biggest concern in dealing with waves of necromorphs since they interrupt aiming and firing.

There are things about the remake that irk me. One is that gravity boots are very situational, the Zero G take off is not a push off but instead a tiny hop, nearly every large room requires some kind of power rerouting, and using the oxygen and stasis modules requires menu navigation. Another big one is the second Leviathan battle. To be more specific, the third stage spawns a field of giant explosive blobs that cannot be destroyed with weapons or moved with kinesis. They clearly did a lot of work on the remake, but I still find that I am more likely to replay Dead Space 2.

P.S. I was thrown for a loop when the sixth upgrade of the armor looked like the skeleton space marines instead of the engineer suit with extra metal plates on it.

Just finished this up a bit ago. Never played any of the originals. I'm not a huge horror game lover, but really enjoyed this one. Hope the 2nd gets a remake (heard the 3rd isn't very good from a friend).

Necro bump:

Deluxe edition reduced to €6.99 on Steam (-90%) until the 25th.

Be rude not to.

Cool, thx for mentioning. Not a big fan of horror games but i might check this one out.

The game is great. Some "meh" sections in the later part of the game but overall it's really good! Graphics are still among the best this generation, especially the HDR implementation.
I liked that they made Isaac talk this time, feels much more natural and it's not overdone. Really like this one.

I could not resist double dipping at such a low price, but man the stuttering is even worse than I remember from a trial they had back in the day. Having also replayed the console version recently, the game is much smoother on PS5 pro. Some stuttering is still there as it's a "feature" of the game, but much less intrusive and frequent.

They completely abandoned the pc port unfortunately. I am still angry to this day man

I played it on Gamepass a few years ago and stopped after a few hours, because of that.
I admit I was now considering buying and playing it again. But I'm still on the fence because of Denuvo and those stutters and performance issues.
EA is so incompetent...

Ah man is it that bad?

I was tempted to get this....

EA does this with all their games, Need For Speed, The Jedi games, sports games etc... all have issues they refuse to work on. I assume it's company policy to spend as little as possible on post-support.

It' funny the more money you make the more greedy you get, it should be the other way around but it isn't.

I suppose it also depends on your CPU. A few of the stutters were nearly half a second for me with a mid-range CPU so you could reduce their severity with something powerful, but it will still stutter no matter what, there is no getting around that.
