“Capcom Essentials” (DMC4, DR2, SSFIV, RE6, MM10) listed for PS3/360 [EB Games Can.]

I'm scratching my head to why Dead Rising 2 would be considered essential to PS owners when neither 1 or 3 are going to be published on a PS platform?

The music alone makes it the obvious choice :)

What on Earth? I never thought I'd meet a person that preferred the MM10 soundtrack over MM9. MM10 has 1 great song: Solar Man. The rest are terrible.

This is, of course, my opinion...it's fine if you have a different one. :P

Hey, Blade Man's
and Strike Man's
theme was awesome, but I agree on you about the rest. Can't hold a candle to MM9's ost.

Hopefully more people will play RE6 now and actually make up their own minds about it instead of reading biased reviewer number 183 who just wants another RE game which is never going to happen and writes the game off for trying something completely different.

Not to mention RE6 has one of the best combat systems ever put in a 3rd person shooter.

So you're saying the demo is not remotely reflective of how the game actually plays? Because that demo was the worst playing piece of garbage I've ever experienced. And no, I don't need a reviewer to tell me that.

RE6 is a bitch to learn, but yeah the TPS mechanics, once your brain wraps around them, are fun as hell.

There are some sloppy mechanics, but I've never met a TPS before where running around with just a knife was not only plausible, but fun as well. And also not a CoD-style insta death thing.

But yeah it's a terrible Resident Evil. Good game after they patched out some of the stupid shit QTEs.
Yep. The updated PC version of RE6 is fantastic and well worth playing. The number of options you have available at any time are quite incredible and the game really rewards players who learn the systems. It's a very difficult game to pick-up and enjoy straight away, however, especially in its original incarnation.

An adjustable FOV, free camera placement, 60 fps, QTE removal, and an extra layer of polish made all the difference in the world.

I'd say it's not that reflective.

I absolutely LOATHED the demo but I actually love the game as a whole at this point.

I really do want to get RE6 once the PC version gets a significant discount. I absolutely loved RE5, so if it's more of that, I'm sure I'll love RE6.

Honestly, it does play a lot better than the demo now, especially since they changed the camera for the better. Gameplay is the least of RE6's problems. The game's Mercenaries mode was pretty good.

Having played all 4 campaigns, Co-op, post patch I can safely say that I think the game is complete shit. It had some good ideas and I can see what they were trying to do with the controls, but the game is garbage.

Thinly veiled attempt of squezing at least some money out of Resi 6?

Should've been 7,50€ or less on Steam during the summer sale, then I would've bought it.

The demo is like literally the worst segment of the game.
The game has 3 sequential periods that are all pretty shitty, the prologue is trash, Leon's first chapter is trash and most of Leon's second chapter is trash.

Leon's campaign while being the most "Resident Evil" of the 4 campaigns is also the worst one because it doesn't try to work with all the new combat options. In many ways I would say Jake's is the best one and would recommend people to start there (the story in all 3 of them sucks and is a huge mess so why even bother)

Ada's campaign is also pretty bleh but at least it's kind of fun...just don't co-op it or your partner will hate you.

To really play RE6 you've got to get used to sliding, shots to the head followed by a rush to a take down, quick shots + melee, using herb tablets not to heal your health but to replenish your stamina meter, be AGGRESSIVE AS HELL, be in the enemies face, don't ever take cover always rush enemies down, be flashy, be showy, use all of your options available, understand what enemies are weak to what, learn how to counter attack and have an open mind.

I would never defend RE6 as a good resident evil game, but I will defend it as a fun game that's worth peoples time should they choose to actually put forth the effort to learn how to properly control and the right mind set for the game.

Don't spend more than 15 bucks on the game though

DMC4?

Looks like we're getting a hint as to what the next game will be. There was no reason to exclude DmC unless they realized its failure.

BELIEEEEEEEEVEEEEEEE

Dear Lord, I hope this is sarcasm.

What alternative universe did I walk into

I'm so sorry.

RE4 has always been a sour experience for me. The atmosphere of it, while stronger than both 5 and a couple of the 6 campaigns, just feels pretty drab compared to prior titles. I'm not a huge fan of Leon, and he just lacks the "personality" that he had in RE2. Not to mention the latter half of the game is resorted to a fucking escort mission. Gunplay and item management is great, though.

I generally enjoy the dumb action approach RE is going with because after 5 I just stopped caring about the lore of RE. I bought 6 for 20 with all of the add-ons for dirt cheap on PSN, and I really liked it! Not terribad as everyone made it into, tbh. It drags on like crazy, though. It's like the Bulletstorm of the RE games. Very fast paced and stupid fun.

Out of all the modern RE games, however, Revelations is my personal favorite. For what it's worth. :s

This makes zero sense. Resident Evil characters had the personality of cardboard in titles 1-3.

Escort mission was a tiny part of the game, and RE4 handled it the best I've ever seen. I don't know if you're remembering RE4 correctly.

End of previous generation: God hand, okami, re4, dmc3
End of this generation: Dmc, RE6, LP3

Why capcom?
I said god damn. That fall in quality. Although you did forget to include Dragon's Dogma and that's certainly good.

I think end of PS2 gen Capcom was at its peak.

I always believe.

The hole with this logic is that MegaMan is even included in this bundle at all.

dragons dogma doesnt repay the shitness of Re6. I also included Lost planet 3 because the first impressions arent that good, so it will probably suck too.

This is what happens when you let your big talents get away. No wonder thay are outsourcing this much, they are slowly becoming like Sega.

Yeah I don't know what fantastical universe he lives in but here resident evil character have always been cardboard. At least 4 upped the ante to quip throwing one dimensional action hero

I can't think of a pattern

DMC3 and DmC are around the same quality (you were merciful enough not to mention pinnacle of DMC1). LP3 will probably stink, but I can just pretend LP2 was the last one and that was a fun time. Okami is not even noteworthy, Kamiya's worst game. RE4 and RE6 are really different games at this point, but I can appreciate them both. The only real loss is God Hand. One does not replace God Hand so easily. Dead Rising is a new series to appreciate though. Dragon's Dogma too, has a lot of potential. Stuff like Ace Attorney, Monster Hunter, and capcom fighting games (which were very quiet last gen) keep on trucking too. Probably some other great stuff I'm forgetting. The only sad part of this list is that two of the games you mentioned were outsourced (and one of them was probably only good because Capcom helped).

My comparison was a little unfair, but the fact is that capcom has really dropped the ball in the second part of the generation.
And for me as a game, DMC3 is waaaaay better than Dmc, not even a contest.
Okami might be kamiya's worst game, but no way it is a bad game.
Dead rising is a good series but 2 wasnt that good, I have to say that 3 looks promising instead . I'm just curious of what they are going to do without the people who saved their ass previous gens. People like kamiya, mikami, inaba and inafune.

Gotta say i disagree with the whole cardboard statement.
RE1 yes but both 2 and 3 for the time they came out had pretty well done characters for the most part. Obviously now now compared to stuff like last of us but for their time they did,

All I can see is physical MM10. Might buy because of that. And to triple dip with Street Fighter, I guess.

Swap out DMC4 for the HD trilogy. Swap Resi 6 for Resi 5 and throw in a Resi 4 HD code. Remove Mega Man. Might as well use the superior Dead Rising on 360 but understand you can't really for system parity.
