Travers was so unilaterally pissed off with Disney for how they handled the first she had a stipulation in her will where American companies are banned from adapting her work. So unless they find a massive loophole, they can't really.

Never really felt like the original needed a sequel. Besides I can't think of a young in vogue actress that isn't a downgrade to young Julie Andrews.

I still think Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music are among the best movies ever made, largely because Julie Andrews was more than human. She was a force of nature, a frame of mind.
Not really looking forward to this since they plan to keep the same kids (now grown up). If it was a new family I'd be happier about it. Then again, if they're going by the books (which I haven't read) then presumably there's a decent story to tell.

Because there's no real reason to remake the first movie and it's based on a series of books anyway so they're just finally making another one.

Im not usually irrational about these movie remakes in that manner but I really adore the original.
