007 First Light - Reviews Thread

You're like the worst kind of gamer. Just a perfect example. You watched some shitty clickbait video on Youtube and made a judgement based on it. The game is not on rails. There's a handful of short on rails sections but the majority of the game takes place in massive, open-ended, non-linear levels that each have several different ways to accomplish the objectives. I can't think of a more "pathetic" waste of time than letting yourself get baited by clickbait trash on Youtube.

The game is on my wishlist and I will buy it when they drop the PT patch. Don't jump to a full blown conclusion. I said 'seems like' based on the sizzle reel. I know how the game is, I've seen several videos, it's right up my alley.

The spanking minigame was fun :p

This is one of the shittiest games I've ever wasted my money on. Somebody come in here and tell me you bought this game and enjoyed it. What the fuck? If you like Bond and want a story...maybe you can get through this? If you enjoy gameplay at all, avoid this game like the plague. It's legit trash.

This is categorically the best action game released this whole generation and despite GTA6 launching this year, the fact it's so late, means this will probably still be my GOTY

Finally got around and this is one helluva game.

I have some gripes but this is the top tier stuff we'd see in the previous generation.

Yeah theres also some woke shite when it comes to MI6 but Lennie James kills it. Great choice for Greenway.

Dang....sucks you didn't like it. Thought it was great myself. Oh well.....opinions

Is this one of those games where you have to press forward to walk and talk on a phone or follow someone down a hall while they toss exposition at you every 15 mins?

Bc that hasn't been cool since Gears s of War 1 and essentially destroyed Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarok for me.

There are a few moments like that but, no, not really.

I made the mistake of playing this on the hardest difficulty, the whole having to go around just for batteries and shit(im talking many just to get 1 fricken charge) and it taking forever to fill up got old real quick and made it incredibly frustrating. Stealth a whole section but not have enough to open a simple lock..? Come on man. I recommend playing on the lowest difficulty purely for this. The story and set peices really carried the game and make me really want a new uncharted :(

I played it on the hardest difficulty and had a great time. I have the opposite advice I don't think I would have enjoyed it on an easy difficulty.

I don't get how that "destroys" any game, but yeah.....it happens a little in 007 as well.

It's a pacing issue and it's boring. I understand the goal is to further immerse you in the world but the stories generally aren't good enough to justify that. It's very difficult to tell a legitimately great video game story and if you can't do it, then don't kill the pace.

Also, it's often used to hide loading which is efficient in a sense but still a drag. Especially when it starts becoming about squeezing through doors and crevices.

That's not necessarily the same thing but they often go hand in hand in games of a certain design and they each have their issues.

I think it's a play style thing, if you aim for pure stealth you are basically punished because you'll never have enough items in the map to do what you need to do. It really pushes you in the direction of combat so I guess I am the problem haha

Booted it up again yesterday, is there an option to make aiming a gun feel more fluid.

Fair enough. That kind of thing has never really bothered me, but to each their own.

I'm only just now getting to the 3rd or 4th main area, and I don't see how it doesn't end up the best action guns and stealth game of the entire 3D era. Best story I can think of in a video game so far as well.

Either learn to work within the auto aim or turn it off. It can be a lot to fight. It's a bit of a snap-to system if you aim zoomed out and then press LT when you're ready to make fine adjustments. You can really get into some cowboy shit when you get the feel for it. Since I'm playing as James Bond, I'll allow it.

Played first 3 hours and it was mindbogglingly boring and dull experience. Full of cutscenes and so called gameplay sections like you mentioned in your post.
Maybe it will become better later but I don't think that I will return to learn it

The "in mission" infodumps and voice in the ear do detract from Bond as a independent operator. Instead of showing you a map, giving you some info pre-mission, it's all done as you play. Keeps the game moving but makes you feel a LOT like an extension of Moneypenny rather than a true operative yourself.

I did like some of the banter though, her saying "it's really scary how good you are at this stuff" as you kill a room full of guys was a great line. I almost wonder if the actors sat there as the game was being played and just improvised stuff.

Not the shittiest but yeah, i really regret spending money on this kiddie hitman for journalists.

Somehow the plot and writing were the best thing but not enough to make me finish this thing.

I had to take a nap after the first hour of this game, holy bore.

That said, basically every game of this type has a boring tutorial intro section so I'll try to stay enthused. Starting second play through now.

I'm 3 hours in and I give it a 3/10.
Holy shit I'm old bc these modern third person adventures all suck arse to me. Walk n talk walk n talk walk n talk.

I said screw it, played 30 mins of ninja gaiden so I could actually experience a playable game, and went to bed.
