1-2-Switch |OT| Feel the balls, squeeze and tug to milk efficiently

How do I unlock the other games? I tried showing my parents the marble guessing game to really show off the HD rumble tech but all that came up was Quick Draw, Zen, Beach Flag, Samurai Training, Copy Dance and the boxing one

I have a copy, still unopened. Am gauging whether to open or not based on GAF impressions. So, keep going people.

It would be played by just me and my wife. Maybe someday with other family members and friends on rare occasion, but we don't have kids and probably won't.

I only paid essentially $15 for it thanks to GCU+Visa Checkout (bought it combined with the Pro controller). Would not have paid $50. Period.

For me this game sucks. I only paid about half rrp for it and I think that was too much. It should have been in the box, as it's basically a well presented set of joycon tech demos. Even as an example of hd rumble I find it a weak effort and was expecting more nuance, but ultimately it's just too convoluted and just not much fun.

It's certainly no wii sports and Nintendo should feel ashamed for putting this out as a boxed product.

Pretty stupid you have to play all to unlock the others. Tried demoing this at a party and quick draw was the only worthwhile game 😒

Def going to try returning this or trading it in. Real disappointed because it's this and Zelda

I always test-fire multiplayer games before trying them with people, it's almost always a good way to torpedo a good time when you play a game and find out stuff is gated behind intro stuff and unlockables. Not too hard to fake it holding two Joy-cons, haha.

Not that it's really expected for a casual game like 1-2-Switch, but it really isn't that hard to unlock all the stuff, you just have to try like 3 or 4 of the games when given the limited selection and then it opens up completely.

Very true. Given the circumstances though, getting a system at midnight and heading out to a trip with friends the next morning, it was stupid.
After unlocking everything though, not a single person found anything interesting besides quick draw.

What a waste. I saw the reviews but still wanted this to be good.

Just my opinion a lot in here seem to be enjoying it

I think it's great, shows off what the system can do and is fun with the right people. Definitely should have been a pack in but it was worth the money to me.

I brough 1, 2, Switch to a party earlier this evening and it went over very well. Obviously, we were limited to the initial set of games, but people enjoyed playing Quick Draw, Table Tennis, Boxing Gym, and Samurai Training. It seemed to generate interest in the console.

boxing is pretty fun. i found it impressive that it registers an uppercut, straight and hook differently and the ecap of the fight is done great

Was a bit surprised to see the different games locked out, although it opened up at right about the correct time that me and my neighbor were ready to branch out.

We honestly enjoyed it—both definitely "gamers," by definition, but I liked how the diversity of play styles created a lot of different "skills" to be tested. I dominated in boxing but struggled in Wizard, while he beat me in Treasure Chest every single time. Obviously, the game isn't going to be the type of replayable experience that Wii Sports was, but I found most games had a clear element of "I want to learn how to do this and be better" that can at least encourage me to pull it out when people are coming together to game.

The $50 price tag is some launch nonsense, no question, but at the $30 I paid for it, I like having it on hand.

Hosting a 12 Switch party in like 10 minutes with 4 people. Unlocked all the games beforehand, so we can skip the awkward copy dance and stuff. Hope its gonna be fun, even though it's not on a rooftop and my name isn't Karen.

To anyone doubting its appeal to the non-gaming crowd...
I've had several people this weekend visit my place to play 1/2 Switch and they've all had a blast, they've said WTF to the Milking game and laughed their heads off at beating each other at Quick Draw.
I just got back from a family gathering and the Eating Contest was a huge hit.
It's so awesome to be able to prop up the little Switch screen on a coffee table to outdoor table and have a great time.
It cost me $55AU here, which was a bit under retail but it's been worth every dollar so far.

You can still fix the last two things!

Well, this'll be annoying going through all of them solo trying to get the one I want to demo lol

Agree with this. The main reason I bought it was to test HD rumble. My wife played 2 of the games with me but had to do schoolwork. I'll try it with my 5 year old today.

Wasn't needed! We played for about 3 hours and had an absolute blast. My face hurts from all the laughing.

I can see how having the right crowd could affect your enjoyment of this game though. You need to be open to looking ridiculous in front of your friends (or family). Having two guys compete against each other in the Runway catwalk game or the Baby game was just hilarious. A female friend played the Shaving game against a guy, she lost, and during the replay it showed how she was trying to shave her eyeballs all the time. So dumb, but so funny :D.

We had a blast with my girls (10 and 8). Have other parents here tried it today?

This is what I said in the review thread. Long story short, it was a hit with the family, yeah there are some issues and weird design choices but overall we are very happy with it.

First I want to say that me and the family loved it. For $40, thanks to Amazon Prime, it was a better 2.5 hour investment than any one movie theater trip.

That being said, the initial 5 games were off putting, and I wasn't a fan of that gating because we all wanted to try different games.

Second and probably my only other gripe, is that the Menu for choosing games is atrocious. It is quite clear they spent all the budget on testing minigames and the filming of the scenes.

Lastly, there are like 3-4 games that just aren't fun. I will have to go back to refresh my memory but we played most of them and they all had good and bad points, but there were a couple that were too hard for my 7 & 4yo to grasp and that is a failing of the developers.

In summary, like I said we loved it, my kids asked to play again today. We will pull this out 2-3 times a week for an hour or so, like board game night, we will laugh and giggle and try out best to fake each other out. I can imagine if you did this with like minded friends or extended family you'd see this too.

Now, generally speaking they need to fix the UI for the game, cycling through each game one at a time is dumb, especially when they showed that full screen of all 28 games, just give me that. Also, let me star games we really liked so they are at the top. Make it easy for us to play what we want, and push down the ones we didn't. In a future patch get rid of that initial five games and maybe make it a random five games that cross the whole spectrum, and you just play them quickly in order to get the gist. And make it skippable for anyone.

I'd also like the boardgame aspects to be improved upon and updated and made a bigger deal. That's what this game is, a socially interactive boardgame, and that is why I don't think it would have made for a good pack in. Everyone buying the system for Zelda would have tossed it after one play if that.

Having it separate benefits Nintendo the most because the people who want that experience can buy it.

I will say it again though, one huge whiff by Nintendo was not pre-installing demos of 1-2 Switch and Snipperclips on the system. Having a 5 game demo of this would get you the feel/taste to determine if you need to get it.

Also, my wife is the meanest sneaky dice player, she said nothing the whole game, just glared and smiled at me knowing full well that it was good psychological warfare.

My kids are 6 and they loved it.

They should have put a wrapper around the game to make it last longer. Like a wario shell to keep it interesting and some more fast paced games.

The motion control seems to be very accurate though. Hope they come back to it and make a full on Warioware game with some of these mechanics.

Screw the haters. I took this to my friends birthday party last night (which btw, it's amazing how portable this is. I just brought my UE mega boom speaker to get extra loud and it was perfect) and we had a blast. A mix of gamers and non gamers, all in our 20s and 30s. Played for almost 3 hours, laughing non stop.

Picked this up to have a game to play with my daughter (8 years old) and it is pretty fun. Wish it had the ability to 'sign in' and keep stats, would be nice to have long term stat tracking on games she is good at so we can play those a little more frequently.

And agree completely on th UI sucking, why do you have to flip through all of them? Why not have a 'make your own board game' aspect? So much that could have been done to improve this and make it a 'game' instead of a bunch of just a mini-game collection.

How is the HD rumble? I don't see anybody taking about it. Does it feel new and interesting or is it gimmicky?
It's nothing to go crazy about in 1,2 Switch. The marbles mini game shows it's more advanced than previous rumbles we had, but that's it. I find it more remarkable in Fast RMX. Though it's subtle again, it adds a very satisfying feeling.

Yes! I have four girls between 3-9 and they all love 1-2 Switch. The dance and pose game is their favorite but Beach Run and Zen are also getting a lot of play. Great game with kids!

Played the game with a group of friends last night and we had a great time with the team battle mode. I'm pleasantly surprised with how much fun it was

A few beers in we were laughing our way through all the not-so-subtle innuendos from the game. Taking harness on and off is jarring but the game doesn't prevent you from just playing with it on, which we did and made things go smoother.

Some games are incredibly stupid, others work great. 50 is a bit steep but oh well. Probably better to treat this more as a slightly speedy party. Oats game of sorts -- being able to turn it on and then get right out of it makes it more apt for a non-gaming centric get together than, say, Mario party.

Played with skim friends last night. The presentation is charming but the straps are clunky. Some of the games are just kinda "embarrass yourself!" which is not a party game genre I dig.

Honestly this game would be perfect for me if you could play in the "game" mode but pick the games you want from a menu.

Not good enough to be a pack in but too expensive for what it is I think.

Still, it'll work to give people a quick taste this week.

Played about 90 minutes of this with my daughter (6) and my wife. My daughter loves quick draw and the runway model game. Practically had to beg to get back to Zelda.

The ball count game is impressive. Safe cracker is too.

The best game to showcase the HD Rumble for me thus far has been Fast RMX. Really makes good use of the motors.

We just took it to a party and it actually went over fairly well. Some of the games really hit well with the group, while some either took a bit to get used to or were outright duds. More the former than the later, thankfully.

Quick Draw and Shake the Bottle went over as well as expected, but the surprise star of the evening was Baseball. While it being more in depth than most of the other games helped,

Funny thing is that we didn't actually get our copy in until shortly before we left for the party (Amazon nearly dropping the ball), meaning we hadn't played it ourselves and that it was still in the shrinkwrap when we got there. The very mixed reception had me a bit nervous about how it'd go over and if we should even open it. It was nice to see that it clicked well for our group.

Just finished playing 1-2 Switch with about 10 people. The game was great! Drinking, food, laughing good fun. Damn shame it wasn't a pack-in. I bought it in blind faith(with funny let's play from treehouse) but I sadly think it's going to get over looked.

Yea the straps were a pain the ass. Treehouse must have practiced a million times cause smoothly taking them off never happened.

It won't be. These people won't be your friend after this.

Well yeah this isnt Wii Sports, its the Wii Play equivalent.

Whe I brought this to a party last night I forgot the wrist straps.

Honestly I think they only game they are useful is the milk game

This game is fun as hell. Yesterday, me, my brother and my grandma played quick draw a lot. Last night, me and my friends got drunk and had a hell of a time. Sword Fight turned into a bracket with the rest of us yelling for a victor. Today, my girlfriend, grandma and uncle played a whole bunch too.
