1-2-Switch website updated with video previews

Other than the Price (which is a legit criticism of this game), not exactly sure why people are against this game conceptually. This, and ARMS are the kind of risk-taking and ballsy creativity I want to see more of from Nintendo. And the game certainly looks fun.

The game is $50.

I've never seen a person jerk off an invisible giant while playing a goofy party game that cost $360 to play.

Tell me, how was it?

Like many others, I agree that the game shouldn't cost as much as it does, but that's not what's offending most of these people. Simply the idea of its existence is.

If someone who owns a switch has a party, and people play this game, they will have fun. Just like they have fun making inappropriate jokes in cards against humanity, or falling all over each other in twister. Not hard to understand. But this is neogaf, so people are gonna pretend it is.

Lol, I'm not upset over this of all things. I'm not surprised at all that this game isn't exactly super-appealing, namely due to its price. But then you say it's "100% the worst Nintendo game", and I can't help but poke fun over that.

I feel ya, haha.

Gah damn even talking shit on this game is making me even more unbearably hyped for the Switch. The 3rd can't come soon enough

Thing is, is someone going to pay US$300 for that privilege?
They might. Most of us will get Zelda... thats already a good 300$ well spent then we can play this as well.

Since when are consoles investments for only one game? Yall have been crying about the launch for a month now then all the sudden ask is somebody gon pay 300$ to play this lol..? No we pay 300$ for the Switch and buy whatever game we want. This game will be sold for years to come and people can pick it up whenever they like.

Eh, even if someone were to buy a Switch just for this, it's not like it'd literally be the only game they'd ever play on it...

That's pretty much I always feel. Get all restless praising or trash-talking other games/consoles, and then the product you're interested in comes out, and you just do not care anymore, you are now above it lol

No, you see, the system is permanently stuck with whatever cart is first slotted in, so there will 100% for truthreals be people who pay $300 us dollars exact to play 1 2 Switch and only 1 2 Switch.

Playing another game is another $300 us dollars.

I can't decide if I like this game or not. The mini-games, themselves, don't seem like they would hold up after a couple of plays (sans turning them into drinking games). There doesn't seem to be a way to "do better"" at them beyond beating the other person. There's no high score to reach or technique to perfect, unlike, say, Mario Party, Ore no Ryori, or even Wario Ware.

If playing each mini-game one by one is the only way to experience what it has to offer, I just don't see the justification. However, if there are other modes included, allowing for scorekeeping or randomization or tournaments amongst friends, then I can start to see the value.

I still think Giant Bomb's critique on the game is the most relevant. They are advertising like this is a crazy set of mini games to play at a party, but the games they tried (and from the look of most of these videos) rely heavily on hearing the game.

I think a Bluetooth speaker can solve that problem relatively well.

Personally, I think this game is so polarizing because it's the type of game that will be as fun as the people you play it with.

The game is $50.

What kind of fallacy of an argument is it to suggest the game is now somehow the only game on Switch or only reason someone would buy the console?

Yeah, I can't imagine a party going silent to play this, so I'm not sure what type of party they expect people to take this too. Might be really fun with a low number of people, like a close gathering, but at a big party there's no way.

Wait, I think you can play this in TV mode, that would certainly make things a LOT easier

Why are you pretending like people are not getting the console that they might use for other stuff for 300? That's really silly

I was replying to duckroll who was saying people with disposable income might buy it to much around with friends. Looking back he might have just been talking of the game itself.

That said, it' snot even worth $5 let alone $50 and those people who see it and are excited are, I would suggest not really likely to be interested in Zelda etc anyway. 1-2 Switch is a throwaway game and people who feel really compelled to buy that are more than likely to NOT be gamers in general.

Hahahaha yep.

I could have 1,000 people "milking cows" around me in the same style as these trailers and be perfectly content playing Zelda and Bomberman

On second thought...

Bought this from Best Buy with my GCU while the VISA Checkout thing was active. Looks like I'll be more than OK with what I paid. I'm also in the camp that didn't understand how people get seriously offended by a game. Especially a party game like this. If looking dumb ain't your thing, then sure this probably isn't for you. I have three kids and make games; I lost all sense of shame years ago. This looks like something great to take to the quiet bar down the street from work with some friends. Or for my kids birthday parties. Or one of the Cards Against Humanity get togethers I go to about every month. This isn't designed or marketed towards core gamers, but I'll still have fun with it.

Who here wouldn't already own a Wii U to play the exact same game? People buying Switch just for Zelda have too much money or are easily sold :)

Anyway I wasn't getting into the whole Switch sucks thing (For me it complete and utterly does) as I realise some people just like new gadgets (I"m one) and some will buy anything Nintendo regardless of the actual games coming.

Eh, what are you even basing that on though

Common sense. People who are more willing to accept casual "non games" entertainment are a bigger audience that general gamers. Take a cross section of people who would play video games and people who would play, stay charades. The later would be WAY BIGGER

tell me more about your credentials that qualify you as the Absolute True Gamer

It's obvious that people are not interested in this as they are in Zelda, but it does seems like a fun little game, maybe people can enjoy all the stuff video games can do?

Get over yourself please

Because the same people want the next console? There's already a good deal of stuff people might want to play and buying Zelda on that is what would make the most sense. you're just rambling at this point

I'm compelled to buy it. Should I sell my ps4 and Xbox one since I'm not a true gamer?

Damn, I see what people mean now. Everybody loves to trash-talks the Wii U all the time, yet now suddenly everyone has the console that sold poorly and also loves it, so there's no reason to buy the Switch for Zelda. Even though Zelda isn't the only game they'd ever play...

Completely agree. Sometimes I think us hardcore crowd can lose sight of some of the semantics of video games by delineating games as either "hardcore" or "casual." Nothing wrong with picking up a silly game and having a good time with friends. It's hard to compare a game like Earth Defense Force to Uncharted, but man sometimes all I'm in the mood for is having a friend over and just having a dumb hell of a good time. I think 1 2 Switch can definitely scratch an itch by offering that pure/weird/shamelessly fun game.

Having said that, I still agree with many that this is a steep asking price and it's a bit of a head-scratcher that a game like this that can demonstrate the Switch's Joy-Con capabilities isn't a pack-in.

Beer should come with this game. Scratch that, for that price, a keg should come with this game. Also, I want to punch the people in the videos.

I'm going to buy it digitally so it'll always be an option. If I'm with non-gamers or casual gamers, it will be an easy thing to turn on for a few quick laughs before turning to Mario Kart/Party.

I'm not saying the game is god's gift to gamers, but I think I'll get value and laughs out of it over the course of the Switch's life. The fact that I can play it with anyone, anywhere, is a huge benefit to the silly casual mini-game genre, something the Wii, WiiU, or 3DS could never offer.

Who here that owns a Wii u that are buying to play the exact same game... is that a serious question? Alot of people here many people preordered a Switch still got Wii Us. Everybody else done sold their lousy Wii Us already (I mean come on its the Wii U.. Ugly duckling no one bought)

Its trash, but you buying? Dont waste your money Azak that would be oxymoron heaven if you did buy one though.

I am excited for this game, it looks like a fun party game to play with friends when showing off the console. When I have a group of friends over I'm not going to take out Zelda and watch them/make them watch me play. I consider myself a "core" gamer, but I can appreciate dumb fun too.

If this game was Wario Ware no one would bat an eye, but that franchise doesn't have huge appeal or feel "fresh" to casuals.

The worst kind of post.

I'm getting 1, 2 Switch because my kids will like it, it's a great anniversary animation. And I have the feeling it will be fun after a few drinks with the right people.

I don't mean to sound like a stalker but I could totally see somebody playing this at one of those bars downtown like Quality (if it's still there).

that baby game LUL

reviews gonna be lit

How do you even review this game? 😅
What media should do is invite a bunch of non-gamer friends and stream their "review party". If people have a good time it should get a good score. If not then not.

I think they should stick adverts for 1,2 Switch in the booze section of supermarkets. I could see it being fucking HILARIOUS if everyone was seriously drunk.

I'm just wondering about one thing:

How many people will actually play along with the concept and pretend that you can't easily cheat in most of these "games".

There will be people here who really find value in the Switch. Who want all those games coming, ports/rehashes or not. Who don't care if the online is shit, or of they have to pay for it and get a crappy featureset. Who are happy to throw another $100 on 1/2 decent storage on top of $300 already, or pay premium prices for accessories.

What I'm saying is that's not, in general a good value proposition. With the lack of information coming from Nintendo, the huge effort and cost put into 1/2 switch and motion gaming that people have moved away from. With the fact that the game lineup is very sparse. With the fact that western third parties are looking again to not even begin thinking about the system.

It may come out, have the best online and all of a sudden Rockstar releases RDR2 as an exclusive, but that doesn't mean at launch it's actually good value for most people.

Who here that owns a Wii u that are buying to play the exact same game... is that a serious question? Alot of people here many people preordered a Switch still got Wii Us. Everybody else done sold their lousy Wii Us already (I mean come on its the Wii U.. Ugly duckling no one bought)

No I'm not buying. I said many times since Wii U if they don't have good western third parties then I'm out and that presentation was the pits - it showed they haven't learned anything (Or more likely, don't care).

I'm actually putting my money where my mouth is and am so utterly over Nintendo (And Sony to a lesser degree) that I'm going back to PC gaming after about 10 years away as I feel I won't be buttfucked every second I own it. That's how much Nintendo have turned me off their systems - and I ADORE Zelda, Metroid and 3D Mario and owned their last 4 systems. I've also looked at my PS4 and wondered why the hell am I paying to play online for the 1 or 2 games I do play and when I even think of buying digital am charged 50% more than what I can get a physical game for. The whole console ecosystem is getting really tiring.

Does this mean I'll never have a Switch - who knows? Maybe they'll price drop if it fails or I'll get one second hand once they have a really solid collection of good games to go on it (That aren't just remakes as they are tending to do these days), 3-4 years down the track. It's a shame because I have kids too and they'd probably like 1/2 switch for a day and we enjoy MK. I still have a Wii U so I'll play Zelda and Splatoon and MK on that. Outside those on Switch there's only Mario way away in December.
