Anyone remember this? I wasn't there :)

Fridayton cometh.

Orc, Night Elf, Undead, Marine, Zerg, .999=1 ... Makes no sence to me =S
.999... = 1 is a prevalent hot topic that, as far as I know, has never made it to GAF. Basicall, it pits those with knowledge of calculus against those with little in a battle over the age old question: Does .999 repeating = 1? Mathematics says yes, yet other say no, despite the many proofs available for their perusal.

Edit: Crossing my fingers for Starcraft 2. The original is easily one of my favourite games of all time. Hell, a game with updated graphics, units, and the ability to control units in groups larger than 12 would be an instant classic in my book.

It's about the WoW expension being playable at Blizzcon. Close this thread

Doesn't explain the Starcraft characters.

My guess: WoW for Xbox 360 with enhanced graphics, and World of Starcraft for PC and Xbox 360.

They already announced that thanks.

From your lips to Blizz's ears, Steve.

Something tells me this is going to be a huge letdown....so yeah, I guess the term Fridayton is appropriate. :D

Also, the fact that the expansion is playable at BlizzCon was posted yesterday on Blizzard.com, so I think we can rule that out.

This makes no sense to me. We are weeks or possibly days away from details on the WOW expansion, and I can't see Blizzard announcing more than one game in that short of a timeframe. Also, their last two game announcements (Starcraft Ghost and World of Warcraft) were rituals of hype insanity and cockteasing that went on for days...on their main page, too.

Some kind of forum upgrade, battle.net upgrade or huge patch seems much, much more likely, as some have suggested. Starcraft races in Warcraft III? Hmmmmm.... :)

I still wonder why both the Warcraft humans and Starcraft Protos are not present...

LOL @ .999 = 1

There was a HUGE discussion on this in the WC3 forums about a year or two ago. I believe it started out with people crunching numbers and fractions/decimals, etc. about the numbers in the game. Eventually, someone started a "Does .999 = 1?" topic or something, and it became a huge forum in-joke that went on for threads and threads over months. Blizzard finally said they had conclusive proof that .999=1, and posted a fake press release about it for April Fools Day.

It's one of those things. You had to be there. It's like the ORLY bird.

umm.. world of starcraft would probably cause me to leave my family and just retire (at 30) to some place where I could afford to live cheap with internet and no job so I could live my life in Blizzard's utopias.

Marvel vs Capcom

SNK vs Capcom

Battletoads vs Double Dragon

Starcraft vs Warcraft

?

Maybe it is a hint? ;) I wonder if this info will be posted at midnight.

It's The Real World: Blizzard.

Seven creatures picked to live in a house. Have their lives taped, work together, and find out what happens when creatures stop being polite, and start being real.

If you look closely guys you can see that ghosted over every eye is a circular pattern, some sort of insignia it looks like... can anyone decipher those?
Nothing important it seems. Just two rings enclosing a "globe".

Umm... Battle.net relaunch/refinement/upgrade of servers etc.

That is all I can think of. Battle.net 2.0 Maybe with downloadable game licenses ala steam for old blizz games.

Have you all completely forgotten about StarCraft: Ghost? I can't believe we're two pages in and nobody's brought it up.

I played it at e3 and let me tell you its not bad but it in no way stands out from any other third person shooter... especially if it has to go up against the 360 lineup.. i fear it may just get subsumed

Blizzard's Utopia is, again, South Korea! :) They have shrines built to the developers there I think! :)

The temples are the internet cafes. The radical religious zealots fast for 56 hours playing games before dying.

FWIW, .99_ repeating does in fact equal 1. There are many different proofs to prove it. The easiest way I usually prove it to people is to say, if .99_ repeating does not equal 1, then there has to be a number between it and 1. What number is that? That's basically what the normal proof to this says.

Another proof, says that if it's taken that 1/3 = .33_ and 3/3 = 1, then 3 * .33_ = .99_ = 1.

Just had to interject, it's one of the few times I can use my math degree on GAF. ;)
