10 years later, why does this screen look so good?

OP should go play Red Dead Redemption

it looks like blurry snot mixed with poopy dump; the horse's hooves ain't even touching the goddamn n64 two triangle sharp knees incline you know, where's you're fucking kinematicians and why the fuck are your trees so frumpy.

It really doesn't look good, (what the heck was with Twilight Princess' ground textures?) although surely there's a better quality capture around. I think the concept of the screen is pretty great though, and really this thread relates more to the unfulfilled potential of the Zelda series and its lack of focus on exploration and creating a captivating world.

Those early screens and videos for Twilight Princess were fuckin hype though, it seemed like every little tidbit and detail created a new wave of speculation and theories. It was pretty incredible. Looking back at some of that old media, it seems like a lot was cut out of the game, which is a bit of shame.

Not soon enough.
Son of a bitch, this is what I was thinking of as an answer. Although I can wait.

Man, I was kind of expecting a picture of Doom 3, Half Life 2, Far Cry, or whatever, not a particularly unflattering TP picture. Still, I would like to run through a forest that looks like that in a Zelda and actually had stuff to find and didn't get turned into some damned poisoned wreck before the game even gets going, but I thought similar about the Lost Woods(?) in the Zelda 64 beta, you can even see it here above the picture from the OP.

Anyways, if this were a PC screen like I expected or at least a console game that hit retail that year I'd argue about diminishing returns, but instead I'm just left vaguely baffled by the OP.

My dad knows I was really into Zelda and printed the original screenshots that came out for Twilight Princess to come up to my room and show me way back in 2003 or 4 or whatever

;-;

Please get your eyes checked, you might have some vision issues.

That screenshot makes that cinematic look blurry and jaggy with Minecraft grass.

Oh man, I needed a good laugh today. Thanks op.

That pic is from a real time demo right-

edit: I'm having a real hard time remembering 2004.
