100+ hour Metal Gear [Solid] Story Marathon on Twitch

If you have a PS2, PS3, or 360, you should probably go out and play Metal Gear Solid 2. Like right now, or at least tomorrow.

I have the legacy collection, and I did play it all the way through. I just don't remember a lot of the game outside of the relevant story bits so watching someone competent play it will be nice.

Despite the fact that I honestly have no idea what is really going on in MGS2, I love it so much. I've finished it more times than any other game other than the original Legend of Zelda. It's just so ridiculous and over the top.

This is also a pretty fun read if you haven't seen it before.

Wow, Raiden does talk very differently at the beginning.

also this is great:

I do really wish the Russians in MGS2 actually spoke Russian to each other, instead of English with bad Russian accents...

"Raiden, focus on the task at hand!"

Why would someone even think this marathon is pre-recorded at any point? Such a dumb accusation.

Yeah, that...and some dude asking him to stop talking and start playing? Man, Threedogg's commentary is one of the highlights of the stream for me. Glad that fella got told.

Always loved MGS2's genetic theme.

Damn, the illuminati dropping truths.

Edit-

There goes the S3, Sub_level. Now I remember what it ment. Just needed a refresher. ;

The fact that he shows all the easter eggs in his playthrough is very interesting and that guy seems to have a very big knowledge of the MGS mythology, hearing his commentaries during the game.

And my god the end of MGS2... <3

I like the dude who did MGS2 much better than the guy who did MGS3. Except for the early part of the plant when it sounds like he has a hard candy in his mouth.

Kojima writes stupid dramas, but some of the things he wrote for MGS2 are just incredibly smart and sensible, and it was 13 years ago. MGS2 is truly a special game.

Totally agree. I think that Volgin, Sokolov, Granin, Ocelot, and Big Boss should've had Russian VAs for when they had to speak to each other or in Russian. And it would've been awesome if a lot of Peace Walker had been in Spanish.

ahhh, good commentary!

edit: death threats...shit, this game makes sense now. Gives it more context.

new perspective

wow

edit 2: holy shit, i'm starting to feel bad for how bad I've bashed this game ;_;7

I had no idea Kojima was thinking that stuff when making MGS4. Whoa.

and the link to the blog on the box with all that stuff lol

What was it?

basically, he didn't want to make it. Made it under pressure from Konami, death threats, etc.

So, he made the game that "pleases" everyone by wrapping everything up at all costs, thinking he'd be done with MGS or game development altogether or something.

So he didn't want to make MGSV either?

Who knows, but I think it's clear he's made Peace Walker and is making MGSV on his own terms this time.

I wouldn't be surprised if he lost trust in his team he was trying to pass the series down upon after the Metal Gear Rising debacle.

Act 2 has got to be the best act of MGS4 from a gameplay perspective. Nice open areas, still keeps the PMC vs militia theme from Act 1, and it has one of, if the not the best boss in the game.

Out of the B&B unit? Agreed. Out of the whole game? I'd say the Snake vs. Liquid Ocelot hand to hand fight is the best in the game. I've always been a sucker for hand to hand based fights in MGS though.

Agreed on Octopus for best B&B. She had the most creative battle, and a very menacing theme song.

But yeah, I'd definitely give it to Liquid Ocelot for best overall boss of the game. Very appropriate way to end it all. Even though I mostly hate MGS4, I'll admit it has a lot of truly special moments.
