There will more than two, A LOT more.
Probably like six to eight before the next game.
I feel like the 6-8 expansions should have just been Vanilla Destiny

Yep, I know it.
I was one of those day-one WoW guys, and I played until the first expansion, so my net investment was $50 + 24 * 15 = $410.
Destiny is definitely light on content, but, one month in, I'm still really enjoying it and playing it like an addict. I've played it enough that I can probably justify the $90 I paid for the limited edition.
I can completely sympathize with someone that would feel ripped off, though. The game could use more of practically everything (strikes, loot, locations, enemies).
That's not the nightmare.
When I played it, everyone in my group got the shader except one person, who got a fucking ship. And nothing but materials from chests. THAT is the nightmare.
I get where you're coming from totally. I'm still logging in every day or so. But it's just so far from what I'd expect from the "biggest Bungie IP" ever. Hell, with WoW you had multiple races, multiple classes and all of them played totally differently. You had different starting cities, different stories and quests based on that choice and even mounts and pets. That was at launch. I'm having a hard time figuring out what in the fuck Jason Jones was doing for like half a decade. What did their writers do for years? If I'm being hypercritical it's because I wanted Bungie to succeed.
Especially the first two in particular. The game is completely bereft of content, as it is. If I wasn't already roped into the expansions because of the special edition, there's no fucking way I would've paid for stuff that pretty clearly got ripped straight out of the game moments before launch.I feel like the 6-8 expansions should have just been Vanilla Destiny
Common sense whispered to me.Well, I hope you're right. Where did you hear this? I can never find any reference to anything but the first two expansions.
Vault of Glass was never free new content anyway. They just held it back for a bit before letting players in. It was always part of the initial purchase bullet-points and not something extra.Wait a second wait a second waiiiittt aaaaaa seccccond.
So my friend just told me Vault of Glass is the last piece of FREE new content were getting with this game and everything else is going to cost us.
That can't be true right
NO WAY.
Holy hell no way.
You mean to tell me the 7 hours of legitimate content in this game that they have suckered us into to playing over and over and over and over and over again is IT!!!
Oh man I want to break something.
Again the Wow comparison is a bit much
Then again even against Borderlands its gets squashed in sheer content
I wonder how the original game got shipped with so little. Maybe they consider their game outside of the box?
I think its more fair to compare Destiny to Bungies last Halo title than it is to compare it to WOW
Despite being built to resemble and MMO I dont think Bungie approached this first entry with that SCALE in mind.
I mean clearly not. I would like to know how it compares to the content they presented in Halo Reach.
Seeing as how thin the expansion content actually is, I can pretty much guarantee you that Bungie will force you to slog through old stuff if you want to see the new instances.Vault of Glass was never free new content anyway. They just held it back for a bit before letting players in. It was always part of the initial purchase bullet-points and not something extra.
So.... considering how light the content is here - with the expansion on the way, do you think the game will be set up so that players will just grind the new stuff? Or will the expansion strikes and the like just get mingled in with the current content?
Or to put it another way, once the expansion hits and you run some strike playlist, are you still going to fight Phogoth and the Archon twice (as a random example) before getting a chance at the new stuff? Or do you think players will just be able to play the new stuff on its own?
Common sense whispered to me.
First expansion three months after launch, next one three months after that... and then...?
You can't tell me that you honestly expect them to go a year and half (at least) with absolutely no new content.
5 hours of Mordor took the Destiny needle out of my arm.
I'll probably come back every now and then for some pvp, but that's about it.
If i have to shoot at the Nexus one more time, i might just lose my mind.
Based on what we received, it would SEEM like they weren't approaching this first entry with scale in mind.
However, based on what Bungie promised us? On their vidocs? On their GDC presentation? They absolutely WERE attempting something with a huge scale for Destiny, and yet we got what we got.
I am DYING to know what happened during production.
:lolIron Banner and Queen's Wrath on rotation, that's some great content, man.
This is what I am trying. So far I have done 7 hours of "Shadow of Mordor", 5 hours of "Alien" and I bought "The Evil Within"...I hope this isn't a twelve step program...I hate the "Destiny addiction", but I will go broke if I have to to get off the train...
The grind vs. reward is too minimal for a longer stay, but I don't want to flat out quit. Just take a vacation to keep from throwing my controller through a wall after getting more Blue Engrams and equipment that aren't any better than what I already have.
Did you buy this game expecting halo 4.5? The game and game play is extremely solidWhat?
There is no way the campaign straight to finish is as long as a typical Halo campaign.
Plus the MP is fun but nowhere near as solid as Halo either.
Where is this quality your talking about?

I think many of is expected something bigger and better than Halo. It may have been stupid optimism but that's what happens when you are Bungie.

I think the beta was the first sign of trouble. I honesly thought that it was a small portion of the land mass on earth. Once it was clear that I had already seen all of what was to offer on that planet, the lack of content became even more apparent. im fine with the gameplay aside from the fact that there is literally little to no difference in how the classes, weapons, or races play. They didn't even bother making race specific attributes which at least would have added some depth.
Even having played the beta and hearing rumors that we saw all of earth, I still had optimism because this is Bungie. It's not some developer with a tiny budget or a shorty history of mediocre games.
That sounds like a good idea. I can imagine a hyper-competitive mode that simultaneous mirrors the challenge/rewards of the Raid and also helps to expose the game's imbalances and exploits. My solution for players like me who are simply unlucky is to create a separate skill progression system in the world of PvP so we have something else to focus on between raids.
What?? well in the end it is a shooter so all the classes will end up shooting but they definitely dont play the same, hell sunslinger and blade dancer dont play the same and their in the same class. If they play the same to you, then I dont think you are utilizing these attributes correctly
I think see5harp is saying that the classes don't really complement each other in any meaningful way. There are supers and attack/defense stats and that's about it, in terms of impact in gameplay.
It makes strategy/planning in PvE more a question of "what level are you" rather than "what class are you".
For instance, I'm a Titan. I'd LOVE to be a true tank, to aggro enemies, absorb damage, grant defensive buffs, etc.
Instead, I can occasionally use my shield to help my teammates. Most times, though, I pop my shield to save myself when I'm about to die or to shield myself when reviving a teammate.
There is a reason that MMOs typically have classes based on attack, defense, and healing. It works and creates an inherent (and, in higher level raids/quests, required) symbiotic relationship in your group.

I just wanted to chime in here and say last night I listened? or should I say watched the Guardian Radio broadcast they had on twitch. Deej from Bungie was on there and the hosts where telling him how the GDC presentation they did stated Destiny would have certain things that it currently doesn't have Deej answer was that the GDC presentation was a long time ago and GDC is more for developer's so people shouldn't take what was said there as a guideline etc. Another thing I notice was how he kept stressing Bungie is a new Bungie but then of course he would go back and talk about how great Halo 2 is, was etc. I couldn't sit here and listen to any more of it so I left the stream the double talk was far too much. Another funny part was one of the host said how the game doesn't have a story and wonder if anyone at Bungie consider that before it shipped. DeeJ says the issue with the story doesn't brother him cause he just wants to load up the game and go shoot things. WTF
This is all garbage justification for the fact that Destiny isn't anywhere close to what was originally envisioned or what was originally shown/discussed via various outlets. Something major happened during development that shifted the project DRAMATICALLY. I mean, c'mon, they hired someone to shoehorn a story into the Grimoire cards when they were already perilously close to going gold. SOMETHING happened. The sooner Bungie owns up to this, the better, and the ridiculous statements of a community manager who is simply trying to placate the masses by telling us how we SHOULD be enjoying the game just aren't going to cut it.
Tell us what we want to know, DeeJ. Otherwise, why should we care at all what you have to say?
Potaato potato
That's exactly what happened to me last night, when we cleared the raid everyone got the shader, but i got a Legendary Ship instead. All chests gave me either energy or ascendant shards,
Finally went to Best Buy and traded in for $40 BB bucks.
That's awesome for a game that's down to $50 new and dropping ($30 at Fry's this week with email coupon).
So the empty space in the skill tree section must mean there's going to be a new DLC tree, right?
I'd like a different style of leveling after 30 when they inevitably up the cap, too. I'd actually be fine with going back a level bar to fill.
There was a post on bungee's site that said pretty much the same stuff. The difference? That guy contacted Microsoft and got a refund.I didn't ask for my money back. I enjoyed my time spent with Destiny, and that's why I played it for so long. I just decided that my large amount of time spent gave me a valid platform to evaluate the game's issues. That's okay though, I guess misquoting me and calling me angry is how they maintain their audience.

Doubt that will happen. My theory is they will increase to 35 with a new tier of loot and also allow people to equip more than one exotic at a time (which they will balance to push you to 33-34-ish)
I am also starting to burn out a bit. I have had two blue engrams turn into Legendary weapons (Final Boss and The Comedian), but the 4 Legendary engrams I have found have turned into ass mats 3 times and a rare hunter helm once.
Everything else i have is just bought or Queen's equipment. I am going to try to grind Vanguard to Rank 2 finally even though I hate the fact that grinding rep is my only guaranteed progression path.
The game is still really fun in my opinion, but the lack of content and a objectively terrible loot system is going to burn me out. I sincerely doubt I will spend any money on the expansions/DLC.
Doesn't help that it is turning into a chore to convince all of my friends to play. They have all moved onto other games because of the reasons talked about in this thread.
I am spoiled by games like PSO2 which is even completely free.
The grind in this game is just too much. I have been grinding crucible for two weeks and I'm still only in level 2. I only have a few hours to play a couple of times per week, and it feels like there is no progress when I play for two hours with nothing but 150 in rep and 12 crucible marks to show for it.
Calling shenanigans on this one myself, you can't even access the crucible until you're level 5 and spoken to Lord Shaxx. Just started a fresh character yesterday too and hit 5 in a smidge less than two hours, split between crucible (I can access it straight away as it's an alt) and a short stint in the cosmodrome to unlock more bounties. The grind in this game is just too much.
