Antoine Dodson, a.k.a. That Bed Intruder Guy, gets a reality pilot. Next stop, Oprah?
January 21, 2011 | 1:06 pm

Dodson Antoine Dodson -- famous hater of bed intruders, singer of "The Bed Intruder Song" and inspiration behind the Bed Intruder costume -- has just extended his 15 minutes of meme-riding into television with a reality show pilot.

On Friday, Entertainment One, who's producing the pilot, announced that the show "tracks Antoine, the oldest of six siblings, using the money he is making from his hit song on iTunes and his best-selling Halloween costume to make a fresh start for the Dodson clan on the West Coast. With a potential new record deal in the works and money coming in from a variety of avenues, we show how a news story sparked a new life for him and his family."

"I'm looking forward to exposing my other talents and really taking this industry by storm," said Dodson in a statement.

Now, before you say that's "so dumb, so dumb, for real!" consider that the iTunes sales of "Bed Intruder" have helped Dodson move his family out of the projects and set up a foundation for juvenile diabetes, which both his mother and his sister have. Which we find... well, kind of inspiring!

Dodson once told Katie Couric that the song had a "positive message" about defending your family. He's kinda like the Oprah of the viral-video. We'd love to see him with his own personal OWN network show -- and at this rate, with his ever-expanding empire of T-shirts and ringtones and Sex Offender Tracker apps, it's only a matter of time before that happens.

Nice.

Jokes aside this guy is really milking it for all it's worth. Public backlash is imminent.

I am pro-Antoine. If setting up diabetes foundations is milking it, then fuck - I don't know.

as long as he spends his money wisely I have 0 problems with him milking his 15 minutes of fame for all its worth.

Why does everyone and their mother need to set up their own foundations? If all these athletes and musicians would stop creating their own charities for inner city kids and whatever cancer their mom had, there would be soo much more money to fight these causes instead of wasted on overhead of unnecessary inefficient charaties.

Record deal? Sweet, lord knows I played "Bed Intruder" hundreds of times and I've got no room to complain when I listen to Turquoise Jeep.

Moving his family out of the projects? Cool, giving his family a better life.

Setting up a diabetes foundation? Awesome, helping make other people's lives better.

Reality show? Ehh...not sure if want. Though I'm not one for reality shows in the first place.

Let's look at some current reality TV stars...

Cast of Jersey Shore
Kardasians
Cast of Bad Girls Club

Yea, doubt Antoine has to worry about public backlash

Antoine gettin so much infamy, meanwhile nerdy youtube comedy skit autotune teh news not gettin da same deal

why should they? antoine was already a huge viral phenomenon before they latched onto it and he would have continued to be had they not. Sure the remix benefited him, but he doesn't owe them anything.

The only reason he's getting any of the attention he is now is because the Gregory Brothers remixed his interview and put it on itunes.

Well, it was both. He had 15 minutes before autotune. The remix propelled him to spectacular heights. Not saying he owes them anything though, I'm sure they profited off of that as well.

Don't see why there's all the hate. He's an interesting character who came upon quite a bit of money. Should atleast be interesting.

you're giving hem way too much credit, the news clip had been viewed millions of times already and being shared/shown everywhere before that

They were gonna give that damn flight attendant a show so this isn't surprising.

"Had something go viral? Well here's a TV show to show our appreciation!"

Yes but the song made it "mainstream". Its how he was making his money at first. Its hard to capitalize financially just from going viral on youtube. Think of all the videos out that have gotten millions of views. It doesnt always lead to money and a reality show. It pretty much never does.

Wheres THIS kids millions?

"DERRES!!!"

Hey guys, an impoverished family just pulled itself out of the projects through legitimate (if minimally productive) means. This is a cause for celebration, not scorn.

After watching his original interview on Youtube...Am I the only one who thinks his original "interview" was in fact him trying so hard to resist the urge of freestyling his message to the camera?

So in essence, as aspiring "rapper" he knew exactly what he was doing from the second he was talking to the camera about his sister's "bed intruder"

Like he got exactly what he wanted out of his (faking) trolling... which was fame!

or am I just so naive by pointing this out now, since everybody except for me, already knew that he was freestylin' a "rehearsed" interview?

Shouldn't the Gregory brothers get the credit? They did all the work

I think Gregory Bros realized ( had the keen ear to hear) his subtle freestyle rap in his interview, so they really didn't have to do too much from there to make a song out of it.

Ya know, good for him. No one here will ever get that kind of chance in their lifetime. He's definitely a character that can attract a certain audience.

I'm happy for the guy, but "legitimate"? Not by a long shot. He said some funny shit on the local news. That's it. He's very very lucky.
