15 Minutes of RECORE Gameplay

I almost get Gunvalkyrie vibes from it. My initial take is it's harkening back to the late 90s/early 00s TPS in a good way, except for the damage indicators.

I don't know about a 'good way,' the action shown is spammy and the enemies docile. There's something of Gunvalkyrie's lateral/vertical boost in there, except not nearly as complex or interesting. I'm a fan of janky action titles that offer flashy style, difficulty, or some kind of gimmick so I'm giving this game the benefit of the doubt, but Recore sure doesn't demo well.

Hmm I praised this for not being another shooter in another thread but there sure is alot of shooting here. Guess I hadn't been keeping up with what this game is all about.

Enemy health seems kinda rough. Game reminds me of P.N.03., without the style. The game does seem to have promise if latter levels ramp things up.

I want this game to be good because I want Armature to have success. All the previews I've read have been positive and despite some less than stellar animations I think it looks good.

Looks are fine but I'm worried about the gameplay.

Shooting enemies seems really dull, I hope this is not a case of "Well when we started making this game ages ago these types of auto lock on shooters were still a thing but now..."

I liked it, im glad i cant seem to see the jankiness and faulty controls everyones talking about, maybe just experiencing the game itself, the autto aim is bad tough

MS has no luck this gen. Another game which won't have any impact, neither in terms of sales, reviews, hype or anything.
I really hope they find back to 360 strength with Scorpio.

I really hope they find back to 360 strength with Scorpio.

The only way that can happen is if they cut loose the Xbox one.

And bring back PGR.

Don't mind some janky animation if the gameplay is fun, but judging from the combat in that video it does not look fun or even descent.

Going by some impressions here I was expecting to see a really poor running unity game. But alas I'm pleasantly surprised! Definitely reminds me of P.N. 03 and Gun Valkyrie but more fun and fast paced! Plus it's being sold for the good old school price of $39.99.

Sold!!!

Yeah people overreacting way to much. Looks great and has nice price.

Pretty much. It's a $40 game and people criticize it like it's a full blown AAA. As long as the game is fun to play (and going by impressions it is), I don't see the problem.

They will all eat crow once the reviews come in
i hope

Nobody ever seems to use charge shots all that much. That's a factor when discussing the bulletsponginess, enemies in Metroid Prime eat up tons of small rapid fire.

So far my only complaint is the animation transitions. It looks like it plays excellently. Will most definitely get this if there's more environment variety and the frame rate is rock solid on PC.

That said I'll wait for the inevitable Steam version.

I dig the artstyle and setting (though the theme is getting a bit derivative), but the character animations look like they're from one or two gens ago and the combat looks really repetitive and boring. Especially for how much of it seems to be in the game.

I continue to not know what to think of this game game. Some parts seem cool others look bad. Might just end up being a middling game overall.

Movement looks really loose and the camera kinda looks cruddy.

edit: oh man that moment at 4:57 immediately caught my eye.

Looks alright outside of the wonky camera. Don't forget that if you pre-order online through Xbox Rewards and the MS Store you will get 15k in credit which is basically 15 bucks. Not a bad deal for the $40 game. I think the Xbox Rewards stuff is just the US but I really don't know. You don't get the free pc version if you do it that way though.

I don't care. We don't need to give games a pass just because they're less expensive.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was $40 because it didn't contain as much content as your typical $60 Mario game, but it didn't skimp on quality.

The "it's not a full priced game!" excuse is weird. Like, for 40 bucks you should still expect quality.

Doesn't look that great or exciting in this build. I'll wait though see if they improve it on final release and check reviews.

Charged shots do more damage, but from what I've played they dont really take that much more, still took me a good amount of time to defeat some enemies while using charged shots as much as I could.

I hope this game has cool puzzle elements, a engaging story and some good exploration incentives, because for me the combat was not really fun and platforming felt weird (but tolerable)

Which is a shame, bc I really like the visuals of the world and specially the design of Joule and the Bots and want this to be a great game

I read the first page and was expecting something far worse. The animations remind me of yester-years platformers (makes me want to fire up jet force Gemini). Visuals are nice.

The combat does look bland though. Hopefully it spices up. Or has less combat, more puzzles.

This thread made it sound like it was a junky iOS game. The gameplay video wasn't that bad. Looked like a lot of fun.

The UI makes the combat and fighting looks like a big mess. The animation looks pretty rough and I hope it's the video it self cause the framerate is awful.

After the shit that was Mighty No 9 I have no trust in Comcept.

Repetitive arena encounters with an always on objective marker in case you forget you're supposed to proceed to the next arena to fight some more bullet sponge enemies... doesn't exactly scream Metroid Prime to me.

I had high hopes for this game but after reading page one of this thread I was feeling a bit disappointed. Then I remembered that this is GAF so went to check the vid for myself. Jesus fuck, the hyperbole in this thread is amazing; the game doesn't look 'awful' at all. It looks about what I expected and I'm still hyped. Yeah some aspects lack AAA pollish but it is what it is and it looks like a fun arcadey blast with a bit of cool platforming thrown in. Should be fun, I'm looking forward to it!

It's got that Gen 5/6 AA game vibe, which is nice. Looks a bit rough though. I was hoping for more exploration / puzzling than mundane shooty shooty bang bang.

If it reviews well I might get it though. Fingers crossed!

My concern from the video is how long and drawn out each of those mid sized enemies encounters takes. I don't mind it being combat focused but the long bullet spongey shooting, grapple gameplay loop looks like it could get dull really fast.

Jankiest game I've seen in a long time. Those jumping animations...ugh.
The game engine is based on Unity right? That would explain the choppy frame rate.
All of the above would be forgiven (at least by me) if the game play looked truly fun. It doesn't based on that video. Repetitive shooting with little feedback seems to make up the bulk of the experience.
Honestly, I'll be surprised if this game get's great reviews.
