1st PS4 footage of Madden 25 (mostly "true step")

The game didn't sell. All the dudebro's that play want the NFL license.
 
My understanding is that it is the NFL that perfers having one license.

Furthermore, both the player association and the NFL itself weren't happy with 2k undercutting Madden.

The engine is simply nicer. Why EA can't scrap their BS and redo something and admit defeat is beyond me. You can boot up 2001 Madden on PS2 and feel similarities with the current game.

Oh for sure. The animations don't have any excuse. The graphics, (if NBA 2K is pushing the PS4 to max which it isn't) should never match NBA 2K because there's a lot less characters on screen at once... or they need to really work on streaming their higher LODs and textures.

Whoever this dude is, he makes me so angry with the way he talks. It's pure PR and there's nothing good about these videos. We don't care about the "graphics". We care about normal speed gameplay and the flow of the sport not shots of a player dancing 5 feet away. Did EA think letting some urban dude off twitter showcase their footage was really the best idea?

Yeah, it is much easier for the NFL to promote one football game than two. As much as people dislike EA the NFL is the one who went to them/2k pitching exclusivity.

They also get far more money from an exclusive license than a shared one. The more parties that are involved, the more the value of the license erodes.

The problem for the NFL now is that they have eliminated competing options so EA has the upper-hand in negotiations. Unlike things along the lines of apparel or beers, if they end a license with EA they have no one to turn to for a NFL video game within the next 2-3 years.
 
Madden is looking horrible. How can they not even have this right after more than 14 years?

I would love to see a fresh take on the football genre. Madden is so stale at this point.
 
It honestly looks like NBA2k14 is the next gen sports game to get. I vowed when I bought Madden 06 never to relive that disasater. This game is rushed out the door and unless something really surprising happens come launch day I think I'll pass.
 
I have to apologize for linking these videos because I think this FINALLY proves that EA "Game Changers" are just Marketers for EA. I mean I've always known that, but some in the community believed that it wasn't the case. And that they were there to help make a difference in the game.

some at OperationSports are pointing out that it is suspicious that this person's videos are legit.. I mean, like he has a PS4 at home? dev kit or review kit.

Some believe that he captured this footage at an EA event recently. and that would make more sense because, as some have pointed out, WHY hasn't he uploaded regular gameplay footage?

imo, its because he can't....no PS4...no Game.

I just get the vision that EA made these videos...had him watch it, told him what to generally point out (with his own spin)...and basically do a voice over.


the only thing I do like about this whole thing is we do at least get to see PS4 footage, which we haven't anywhere else.

i like that the helmets rattle and the game in general is sharper but just like with nba 2k i don't give a flying fuck about close up replay angles. don't care how good or how bad it looks, show us some fucking gameplay. the game is finished, done so what else are the guys at tiburon doing? working on a day 1 patch or something? it's just ridiculous.

Doesn't have to be an event necessarily. They will bring people into the studio to check out games all the time...this is just a unique situation because they are trading exclusive footage for the reach of a Youtube personality. It's an exchange that essentially makes the person part of the marketing team and the promotional campaign. 2K did something similar recently by putting event invitees into a marketing video that they released with them endorsing the game (something those people I think came to regret being a part of). This situation is even more gross than that though.

They can put out worthwhile stuff themselves if they so choose. If it's valuable to consumers they'll be able to recognize that. What they wanted here was a personality (supposedly independent) behind it to endorse and hype it and Youtube is where they go for that now.
 
I'm sorry but between NBA Live and Madden on these new consoles, it seems clear to me that EA can't hang with the big boys. This doesn't look next gen at all.
 
Sadly, day one on PS4. I hate to support it, but I have to be able to play my teams (niners/panthers). I'm getting this, BF4, and 2K. I've had the new Madden each year for the entire 25. Actually kind of disturbing for a game that hasn't been good since 05/06.
