It is a rumor, it originated in EGM and is a rumor that NGBlack was going to be on the PS3. Which will likely be where Itagaki's tells whether or not there's demand for it. Here's a hint Itagaki, it isn't going to work.

the first bit is wrong. 1up put up a product page for NG jumping the gun on a list of games *rumoured* to be at TGS. they didn't even run a story on it today. rumours may follow. NG may end up on the PS3, but as of yet, 1up haven't said it's happening.

Seriously, though, as much as I don't want this to occur, a souped up version of Gaiden would look pretty nice even today.

DOA4 really isn't a huge leap over what Team Ninja was doing last generation, so modifications of that variety would go a long way. Improve the textures, increase the geometry count, add some new effects, etc. It could look great.

If it were to happen, though, I still think it would be a waste.

Well, continuing with Itagaki's quote of only working on the most powerful, it makes sense.
I mean, DOA2 was on the Dreamcast. The PS2 was released and then came DOA2:H and then the Xbox was launched and he stayed there until the 360.
Of course, this all depends on DOAX2 launching before the PS3 to keep up with his self-imposed development ideals.

Tomonobu Itagaki: Yeah, we have seen the PlayStation 3 hardware and we're studying it. We're messing around with it right now. I think it's a good machine. But I think the most important thing is for people to have good games that they want to play on good hardware, so if there is a demand for it, we may follow that path some time in the future. Obviously, we are big supporters of the Xbox platform. There are a lot of fans of the Xbox that support us and are with us because of that, so I just want everyone to know that we are going to continue bringing out the newest releases on the Xbox platform before they're on other systems.

If this turns out to be true, it´d be great, one less reason to get a 360.

Reading that quote, that just states that whatever Team Ninja does will show up on X360, it doesn´t state wether it´ll come first or if it´ll be exclusive. So a PS3 version of their games is possible.
