Jesus, Garnnet is retarded i'm sorry,

It's like he doesn't know what he is talking about, when he starts talking about the sales numbers he's like he's lost and doesn't know the chain of events. Isn't this his job?

Explain your discontent with Garnett's sales talk.

He could've said why MS said it was 2:1, because people made the math with the numbers Sony gave (Percentage over last year), and then at the beggining he is like lost, he doesn't know how to explain where it begun and how it ended.

It happens all the time with Garnnet, where the dude seems like he's lost.

Bitter tears from Mark over CoD4. Garnet wins this round. The M16 is still one of the best weapons in the game, and you get it right out the gate.

Absolutely. CoD4 is one of my favorite games of this year and I actually had to peel myself away from it so I could dive into Rock Band, Mass Effect and Uncharted. In doing so, I made it a goal for myself to hit 55 and go into prestige mode before putting it down for a few weeks so I can finish some of this backlog. During the levels, my favorite combos were the following:

Close Combat (Crash, Vacant, District, Downpour)
P90 (red dot)
Desert Eagle
Frag x3
Juggernaut
Martyrdom

Silent (only used on Bloc)
P90 (Silencer)
Frag x3
UAV Jammer
Martyrdom

Everything Else
M16 (red dot)
Desert Eagle
Frag x3
Stopping Power
Steady Aim

Even then, if I wasn't going for the highest possible K:D ratio and wanted to go M16 on all of those maps, I'd have no problem doing so. It's just that good. I might switch up the Steady Aim for Martyrdom or Extreme Conditioning depending on the map, but that's all it really comes down to. I love the M16. The M16 loves me. It is so good and it's a starting weapon with one of the best (stopping power) starting perks with it.

all Mass Effect needed to do for a tutorial was have a small bit when you are in a medical area and the doctor asks you "are you having any trouble remembering anything? no (skip tutorial) or yes (do tutorial)"

Yeah, I see your point. Here is where I come off sounding elitist, Sales-Age is an incredibly huge, important part of our (NeoGAF) identity, so we definitely notice discrepancies of all kinds. Since Luke's departure, they haven't been bang on when reporting sales, but life goes on. ;)

Agree 100% with John and Mark's take on Assassin's Creed. It's a good 8.0 game.

Garnett not getting sucked into Portal made me sad but he hasn't even hit the meat of the game yet so I'm not totally surprised.

The pixel shaders are richer. And something about online and how it's structured.

yeah, but just now Garnett said that the 360 version does all the cool instant online stuff the PS3 version did.

From what I remember, PS3 had instant online integration and 360 didn't. But I have no idea if I'm right or if that's still the case.

To be fair, I probably mucked up stuff with sales-age, too. And to be additionally fair, covering sales isn't a component of Garnett's job, I'm pretty sure he's interested in it, but talking about it on the show at all is probably more for the benefit of the listenership than anyone else. While I was at 1UP NPD day was my favorite day of every single month, period. If there was a certified Box Office Mojo type site for game sales (NPD should launch one, actually) -- it'd be my home page.

thats what I remembered them saying way back when.

the PS3 version had the thing where you press the dpad and your online, but Garnett says the 360 version also has that now.

the geometry wars control scheme they are talking about is wrong... the wii controls are not like that at all. totally totally wrong.

:lol Mark really doesnt want to let Shane have his moments.

first the podcast two weeks ago where he called him out about liking rap and now this week about Unreal.

Meh at the Uncharted discussion, I gave up listening after the whole "Drake is an avatar" exchange. I guess 1UP's gaming tastes are very different from mine. as a PS3 gamer I'm kind of left out in the cold by most gaming sites because none of them would actually take the time to discuss a game that I actually give a shit about.

I'm sure Garnett will enjoy it when he plays it, it seems like his sort of game

For what it's worth, I have to agree with Garnett on the CoD 4 ranking/balance thing - higher ranks basically let you specialize more, but they give you enough tools early on to be deadly enough to keep up with the rank 55 people. Stopping Power alone mitigates most of the "I can't kill anyone" complaints and levels the playing field.

Martyrdom is definitely an annoyance, but once you're expecting it you can throw the grenades away or back away in time in most cases, so it's not as huge a problem as it seems at first.

Blinx 2 and Elder Scrolls Morrowind are already backwards compatible.

and also from last week, downloading movies doesn't take forever before you can watch them, you can now start watching a movie while you're still downloading it. The last movie i rented from XBL i was able to start watching after ten minutes or so. And no, you don't need a huge hard drive for movie downloads, they are rentals and do not stay on your hard drive.

This message has been brought to you by: Culdcept Saga, buy this game despite Shane's inabilty to speak highly of a game he likes.

It's a fun game if you can get past the graphics....better known as " Get past the graphics because the game is amazing."

Just started listening. They're really making Geometry Wars Wii/DS sound awesome right now.
It's not fucking awesome right now - it is awesome forever and ever. :D

Seriously, it's hard to play Retro Evolved after playing Geometry Wars Galaxies.

Just listened to the first minutes. I am totally with Garnet on COD4. Mark is really axagerating this stuff. You get some of the stuff like MArtyrdom rather quickly and the most important stuff is unlocked from the beginning. In fact most of the time I only use perks that were unlocked at the beginning. ABout the Airstrike stuff: It's not cheating! You have to be good and do a killing streak first, so it is skill based.

the CoD4 mutli talk echoed my first feelings till I learned to love it, nice to hear the guys share a multiplayer experiences after a games been around a little.

Also Parishes Mass Effect gush was a really enjoying listen for me, I have just finsihed the game and love it, I would love to keep track of his Mass Effect journey as the way he seems to play it seems really interesting to me as I did the different route. Maybe we'll hear again through the podcast or his blog?
