2 fingers or 3 fingers?

I have big hands, I hold my mouse exactly like this:

LOL, thank you.
lol

Thumb on left wall of mouse.
Index on left mouse button.
Middle finder on mouse wheel.
Ring finger on right mouse button.
Pinky on right wall of mouse.

I don't know why you'd hold it any other way. Ring finger doesn't give me any better grip than pinky, and simply removes a dedicated finger for the mouse wheel.

In fact, I'd say the pinky is a better hold for the right side of the mouse. Why? Because it lines up laterally to your thumb, while the ring finger would be much farther ahead making your hold on the mouse unbalanced.
Precisely what my hand is doing.

It's pretty much impossible for your pinky and thumb to have more control than your ring, pinky, and thumb.

I'm saying to do with without your pointer and index touching the mouse.

Pick up your mouse with thumb, ring, and pinky finger without your index or middle finger touching. Now, let go with your ring finger. For me, I lose absolutely nothing by letting go with the ring finger. It offers next to no support or control over the mouse.

If I just let go with my pinky instead of my ring finger, then the mouse tilts backwards since the grip is too forward on the mouse. Pinky + thumb brings the grip closer to its center of gravity, leaving the mouse stable.

(unless you're using a claw grip...then ring finger works out okay)

I prefer mini size mice. I hold the mouse with my thumb and ring finger tips, my pointer finger rests on the mouse wheel (for forum reading, when playing a game it's on left click) and middle finger rests on right click. It's really effortless to move around because of the size and weight.

Two is the way to roll when you're getting comfortable. Then as you get to know her you can gauge your comfort levels and maybe move on to three, moving her all around and really pressing her buttons.

I use 2 & half.

2 fingers then 3rd one sort of of hanging half off/half on

Same here, I rarely actually use the 3rd one but it's just kind of hanging there. I use middle finger for scrolling.

That's what I mean. Look at how unbalanced that grip is. Use your pinky on the right wall and the grip is far more balanced.

Yea I do this. I can't imagine people doing it another way. It's probably conditioning from constant PC gaming.

Anyway, my index finger goes on the left click and my middle finger goes on the right click. I use my index finger to use the scroll wheel. It's weird using 3 fingers for 3 buttons. It's like driving a clutch, if I had 3 legs I probably wouldn't have 1 on each pedal.

thumb - side button
index - left button
middle - scrollwheel
ring - right button
pinky - wherever the hell it wants to be

Am I the only one that uses one finger? When I simply browse Internet I only hold my index finger on the scroll wheel and hold the other fingers to the right. I only put my middle finger on top when I have to use left button and after doing so it slides back to the side of the mouse.

I use a trackball, but when I use a mouse, it's 3 on top

Also, is there a gif from community's d&d episode where annie decides to use 2? 3? 4. 4 fingers on the elvish maiden please?

I've always held the mouse like this and used either finger to control the mousewheel.

I think I'm going to try the three-finger approach starting now to see if I like it.

All five because I use this:

Care to write some impressions about that mouse type?

I am thinking of buying something like that.

Currently I use an A4Tech X7, and it seems to me that the whole palm and fingers resting on the mouse doesn't suit me well. I have the feeling that my hand starts hurting sooner then when using smaller mice with the crawl grip.

As for the trackball mouse I am considering it because one time I had tennis elbow like symptoms because of the regular type.

Other then that I am really satisfied with this mouse:

Mouse? I haven't used a mouse in over 2 years.

Haters be damned, they don't call them "Magic" for nothing. I even use it to play games. I've gotten quite good at playing FPS games (Mainly DOOM clones in the modern ZDoom engine) with this thing. (Never could stand using a mouse for FPS games, but for some reason the trackpad comes so naturally to me.)

To answer the question. All five fingers. Depending on the gesture and what I need to do at the time. Left hand.

After years of using a traditional mouse, my right arm would start to hurt from my elbow up. I bought one of these and haven't looked back.

A few months ago I was talking to someone with arthritis in their wrists, who had trouble with traditional mice. I started thinking... wouldn't a vertical mouse solve the problem? It would allow a person to not put as much stress on themselves by using the mouse itself as leverage.

I started coming up with ideas and designs and wondering if I could pitch the idea somewhere and make some money.

And then I googled "vertical mouse" and saw Evoluent. So, fuck Evoluent. I could've been a millionaire :shakefist

Thumb on the left side edge of the mouse (the edge of where the side and top join)

Index finger on Left Button (I use this to scroll too)

Middle finger on Right Button

Ring finger is bent and presses against the right side wall of the mouse

Pinky hangs lose and usually rests/presses down on the table
