Man, if Vanderbilt wins some sort of championship, maybe people in Nashville will start caring about us!

BOWL6602.jpg

Did you see the crowd for Vandy yesterday? People were across the street in the freakin parking garage to watch the game. They've been packin em in for football too, granted everyone is there to see the other team :) I don't really think Vandy hurts for support

:lol Holy shit women's bowling is an NCAA-sanctioned sport? I must've missed that one on ESPNU / FSN late night.

It's my wife's alma matter. They chant 'Lets go Peay' (pee) and wear shirts/chant 'Show us your Peay-ness'.

Weirdos.

They're the Governors or something, right? I can totally see a politician asking someone to show them their Peay-ness.

Yea, Vandy just added it a few years ago and they brought home Vandy's first and only NCAA championship in the school's history. You go girls!

Damn, today's games in the Columbia SC regional got postponed. We'd better not lose... look at this schedule for tomorrow:

11 AM - NC State vs. Wofford (Game 1)
3 PM - South Carolina vs. Charlotte (Game 2)
7 PM - Game 1 Winner vs. Game 2 Loser

It would've been nice to have had South Carolina in UNC's region. Every cardinal direction Carolina school in the same group is guaranteed hilarity.

Oh shit @ Stetson's beatdown on Bethune Cookman and Creighton's on Albany.

You alone believed, my Bruin brother! :D

The loss you gave us during the regular season in no way influenced my faith. I swear.

If the UIC game goes the way I think it will it looks like I'm going to be bandwagoning with the 'eaters sooner than later. *throws on a UCI hat laying around the house*

edit: lol, I thought we were losing 3-1. Bandwagoning postponed!

Damn, I forgot them bowlers won that championship. I only heard about them possibly winning it in passing a few months back.

Well, that's part of the demoralization of going to a Vandy home game for football. You get to watch your team get crushed, see the preppy frat drunks stumble in halfway through the second quarter, leave halfway through the third corner, get harassed on the way out by visiting fans after we lose, then get plastered whence returning to the dorm...

Sorry, when I went to Vandy (2001-2005), the only real bright spot we had for sports was the basketball team making the Sweet 16, which just HAD to happen when I was abroad in Japan. :( Nashville didn't really have much to root for, and our support was mediocre at best. Since then, they've beaten the Volunteers in football (first time since I've been alive), made the sweet 16 again, and now have the #1 team in the nation. The sports apparently got good after I left. :(

Good thing I didn't go there for the sports. :lol

PS sef: I would assume from your avatar and your knowledge of Vandy stuff, you live in Nashville? Or are you just worldly in your knowledge and like the Predators?

Congrats, but there's always room on the Eaterwagon for a fellow UCer. :lol

Hey, no shame in losing to Mississippi State this year. The shutout, on the other hand... well... that's their first of the year. Normally it's the bats you've gotta look out for with them.

Ya, I've lived in the area all my life.

Vandy has definitely improved in pretty much every sport. All it took was getting rid of the athletic department.

Anyway hopefully the ladies can win today and march on to the finals. I actually stayed up the other night to watch the game against Arizona cause I got in from seeing knocked up at 12:30 and I wasn't tired.

NCAAsports.com says ESPN is broadcasting the WCWS in HD. Why didn't you do that for the women's volleyball Final 4, assholes?

If UCLA beats LBSU it looks like they get to host a Super Regional. Sweet!

P.S. lol University of Whale's Vagina.

vandy going down on the peayness, 3-0 in the bot 2nd

edit: vandy puts up 6 runs in the top 3rd, i should get on here and bitch more often

OMG YES YES YES!! Mike Hamilton comes though again.

KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee Athletics Director Mike Hamilton announced Sunday that Rod Delmonico has been released from his contract as the Volunteers’ head baseball coach. A national search for a successor will begin immediately.

“Earlier today I informed coach Rod Delmonico of my intention to take the baseball program in a different direction,” Hamilton said. “I appreciate the job Rod has done for the University of Tennessee. During his tenure, three appearances in the College World Series, a number of great wins and numerous great players have provided our fans with many fond memories.

“In recent years, however, we have lacked the consistency in Southeastern Conference regular season and NCAA postseason play that is expected of all our programs at the University of Tennessee. I did not have a clear indication that would change in the near future.

“We all wish coach Delmonico well in the future, and a national search will begin immediately for a new head baseball coach.”

Contractually, the university is obligated to pay Delmonico his annual base salary for the three years remaining on his contract, as well as one year’s worth of additional compensation for broadcast, equipment, shoe and apparel pay. That total is $430,000 payable over 12 months in equal installments.

Delmonico posted a 699-396 overall record in 18 seasons at Tennessee, including a 263-255 mark in regular-season SEC play.

And the girls made the finals!:D

Wow. We beat Charlotte in the 4:45 game, and they got just 50 minutes to rest before playing NC State in an elimination game. So far they've dropped 7 runs on State in the second inning and another one in the third. :lol

Louisville facing elimination, eliminates THE Miami University in the first game today 8-7, and then beats Mizzou 4-3 to force a title game tomorrow, after losing to Mizzou last night 7-5 blowing a 3 run lead. Big time game tomorrow - GO CARDS!

The OSU Cowboys just advanced to the Super Regionals, beating #1 seed Arkansas 14-3 and 7-6. If their bats get hot, the rest of the country had better WATCH OUT.

Go Pokes!

Creighton got peaced out, as expected. Nebraska needs some serious bats to get by ASU tonight.
Nebraska has already put up 2 on ASU in just 2 innings... to bad ASU has put up 5 already (make that 6) and is looking to get even more.

Damn we have hot bats.

GO DEVILS!

Uh oh - UL plays the winner of that regional, if they win. If not, you get a match with your fellow conference member Mizzou. UL is having a cinderella year with only making the NCAA Tourney in baseball once EVER, in 2002, and not having won a game until this year - and have won three so far. We just got a new, LONGGG overdue stadium last year, UL played in the extremely rundown ex-football Cardinal Stadium before, and on fields less than equivalent to high school fields in town before that. :x

This is a great year for Louisville sports, winning an Orange Bowl, having a young team to build on in bball, and all kinds of great things in other sports (2 National titles in track and field for one). If UL makes the Super Regionals, thats just icing on the cake.

****ing sweet! I can watch a stream of the game. 5-4 Bruins in the top of the fifth thanks to a 2 RBI single.

No offense, but I'd rather play UL than Mizzou--they swept us in our last series of the reg. season. Either way, it looks like we found our groove after losing six straight before the regional. If you do end up playing us, here's a scouting report:

Hitting: AWESOME
Pitching: Sucks.

disappointing really, arkansas had a damn good team this year
Yeah, it's disappointing... but since they bounced us from the SEC tourney, I feel better about our chances with them gone!

Let's see what we've got so far... correct me if I'm wrong on any of these:

IN
Rice
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Oklahoma State

STILL ALIVE
Michigan / Vandy
UVA / Rutgers
UCLA / LBSU
CSUF / Fresno St.
ASU / Nebraska
Arizona / Wich. St.
UC-Irvine / Texas
UL-Lafayette / Texas A&M
Louisville / Mizzou
Clemson / CCU
USC / (Charlotte or NCSU)
UNC / WCU

Here is what the rivals mod had to say about who UT would probably be contacting:

don't be surprised if Hamilton calls vanderbilt about trying to speak to corbin and don't be surprised if dave serrano's name comes up. he is at uc irvine and was the pitching coach at one point here.

:lol Although I don't think it will happen but if we somehow managed to pull Corbin away from Vandy that would be pure comedy.

Things aren't looking too hot for the Dirtbags right now. Their eighth string pitching is getting lit up.

UCLA might not be able to host a super regional because Jackie Robinson Stadium is ghetto. :lol

Ripping off a university started by one of the great (but unfairly labeled) robber barons is pretty amusing.

looking good for the devils. 3 errors by Nebraska, current score of 9-3 (ASU) at top of 6.

--edit--
Things not looking so great for my Devils now 9-6 (asu) Nebraska has no outs and 1 on first :(

Wow, I knew we were screwed without Bryan Henry going against Mississippi State tonight, but I didnt expect Danny Rosen to blow it quite that badly. Oh well, what can ya do. Another wasted great regular season.. par for the course for the Noles ><

Go track team!

I watched some of Albany/Creighton on Saturday.

Albany had like the same regular season record as us but won their crappy conference so they got to be in, lame.

There was some seriously questionable stuff going on by some of the dudes. I saw a guy try and bunt with 2 outs and the bases loaded! WTF! Bunting is lame in general, but with the bases freaking loaded?
