Actually MW2 is glitched as hell and I didn't enjoy it as much as MW1, and as for the mario comment I mean the Mario franchise as a whole

So, Mario has been in a lot of poor games?

0/5 here.

I guess I should get around to buying NSMB, but I'm in no hurry to play it. I'll rent Modern Warfare sometime later for its single player.

Having two Mario platformers, one 2D and one 3D, on the Wii is just way too much milking, especially after being so over-saturated by the one on the Gamecube, and the one on the N64 before that. When will they let up this constant barrage?

You have to be careful, a lot of people are going to miss your sarcasm.

Man, if duckroll did it, whose to say others won't follow?:lol

But I will be owning all those games this year since they all seem to be quality...

I'm pretty sure Mario never meant anything to you ever.
Are you kidding?

His backstory is so compelling and nuanced. I feel like we have gotten so far from his life growing up on the streets of Florence. The beautiful tale of how a lowly man with dreams and aspirations of being an artist was forced to work on repairing an artesian well for the Medici family, to keep his dream alive. Only for him to meet a princess, abandoning his artistic passions for love, all set to the backdrop of the clandestine power struggle between the Medici and Albizzi families. And then just as the young Mario has reconciled his betrayal of Cosimo de' Medici, his clandestine marriage to the princess, performed by no less than the pope himself, is broken up by a mercenary hired by the Alberti family to instigate tensions amongst the Florence populace . A poignant tale that speaks to the loss of our dreams for love, and how love can be lost to the banal evil of an uncaring world (exemplified by such exquisite metaphors in the original game - an ape throwing barrels - how that tugged at my heart strings).

Now they have him playing baseball against some dinosaur looking things. Disgusting!

1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - a hardcore FPS
3. New Super Mario Bros Wii. - milked marioware

Separating by platform, there have been 37 Call of duty releases in a single genre since late 2003, or at least 14 if you squash platforms together. In that time, there have been -- including rereleases -- 6 Mario games in the platforming genre. Who's milking exactly?

Only 1/5 and that was a purchase of Wii Fit as a gift for my mom. Might get WSR if the price drops and more games come out with M+ support later this year.

Ignore the genre and mario is milk city.

Yeah, they're both milking, but why are we separating by genre...?

I own 4/5, the only one I don't own being Wii Sports Resort. Not interested in another useless hardware peripheral.

Like others here the Wii Fit games were for the wife. I'm a sucker for the minigames though.

I think it just seems to me that more or less making the same game over and over again is more of an abuse of a branding than using the branding in different ways.

But yes, the Mario likeness is used with more overall frequency than the CoD branding.

the amusing but perhaps scary inevitable result of this line of thinking is the Madden RPG

Nintendo milks characters. Not games. One mario kart, one smash, etc per generation.
Mario Galaxy 2 is actually quite surprising.
Wii fit plus is kinda milking though. Although it is 20 bucks, so it is more like an expansion pack. Not enough new in it for me to buy.

I am one of those that think FPSs are by definition hardcore (first person perspective can cause dizziness in people who don't play games, the fact that you can't see your character, and a few things more), but I will be cursed if I mention it.

:lol Arguably the most popular gaming genre right now.

Well I wouldn't say poor, but after a while Mario just fails to mean anything to me anymore it's been used too many times

You need a backstory or something to make mario games fun??? How about you play the game.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is the only game on that list I own, and I'm completely okay with that. I'm somewhat interested in checking out Wii Sports Resort, but not in actually spending that much money on it.
