Somehow I want our guys to be curbstomped some more. Dunno why. I have no ill will towards them at all.

On the other hand, that loss against Spain must have been pretty traumatic, so I guess I'll keep rooting for those young fragile German minds.

I do expect a good fight though, especially from Uruguay. They came out from that last game like champs and I hope they can keep that drive to give our boys a run for their money.

I did say in my Final OP I would make this thread today (sigh). Just stick with this one now, can't be arsed anymore.

I was going to call it Klose vs History Books.

I'd rather win the third place playoff than lose the final.
 
again, it shows character and passion that Uraguay wants to win third place. Their fans also care.

i know the dutch couldn't care less about third place. well, maybe a little.

in the future they should ban this match though.

third and fourth are both bronze.

edit: Have to say i hope Germany will show its great soccer again.
don't really care who will win. but i started sympathising with some of the urruguay members on this forum..

I think it was Seinfeld who said something along the lines of rather winning the bronze than the silver medal. If you win the gold then you're the champion, if you win the bronze you're just lucky to win something. If you're the silver... you're basically getting a medal that says you're the best loser.

Recent rumors say we'll play like this (well, it's almost certain):

Butt - Lahm, Friedrich, Mertesacker, Aogo - Khedira, Schweinsteiger - Jansen, Özil, Müller - Cacau

Not quite the B team. No Klose and still no Marin sucks, though.

The German one is pretty much this, although not completely confirmed:

22 Butt - 20 Boateng, 17 Mertesacker, 3 Friedrich, 4 Aogo - 6 Khedira, 7 Schweinsteiger - 13 Müller, 8 Özil, 2 Jansen - 19 Cacau

Lahm and Podolski have the flu, Klose has problems with his back. Butt for Neuer because the match doesn't really matter and is a good chance for the second goalkeeper to play. And Wiese is injured, thus Butt will play.

No idea about Uruguay.

No, we have had that match in 98 and, I and most Dutch players and viewers were not interested.

It is the match for "the golden pineapple" as my eastern neighbors call it ;)

Both playing. Forlan played against Holland and he wasnt really fit though, he was in pain during the whole match wich caused him to play a pretty bad game.. hope he`s better now.

Well, they just said that Forlan has been sick for the last couple of days :/

He`s still playing, but dont be surprised if Tabarez puts him on the bench later on.




edit: cant believe the people saying they dont give a shit about the third place, way to support your team until the end guys.

uruguay won't feel it pointless and germany won't want to lose, this will be good.
 
I feel that Uruguay's national anthem is pretentious and arrogant-sounding. So Germany it is.

It basically runs twice. One with music only, and one with the words.
 
I think this match exists only due to tradition.. an international friendly right before the biggest match in world football always struck me as odd.
