Yeah, and my friends who got to Ireland on summer to learn english were warned about a day on which stupid teenagers hunted spanish people. Spain specially racist my ass...
Anyway I don't think chanting like monkeys it's racism, specially when your own team has several black players. It's just disgusting but it's like yelling at those bald, insulting the referee, etc... People just do stupid things in the most obvious way, because most people has little imagination to insult in an original way. Black people can be easily insulted in an obvious way, just like those bald, just like those short in size, just like those a little overweight...
People is way more stupid than racist, because loving etoo and being racist with henry just don't make sense.
PS: For the brazilian guy. I work on a company who has an office in brazil, and we work together with 200 brazilians, and are quite happy, as well as they are with us.
PS2: People also tend to be more clasist than racist in spain. I know very very few people who is actually racist in Spain.

If a country is being progressive in civil rights, it's a signal of a tolerant country. Tolerant people are less likely to be racist. It's not a consequence, but a correlation.

Truth is that Spain is historically intolerant with jews, due to decades of massive stupidity and dictatorship (Franco was specially nuts on jews) Obviously old people is still brainwashed, but young generations don't give a damn about jews.
On the other hand we are one of the most muslim-tolerant coutries in europe (By far), and also regarding foreign workers (Taking into account the massive amount of those we have, and how long have they been in the country, which is the key issue for racism)
Also we are quite open about religious (Truth be told 70% of spain never goes to any church so basically we don't give a damn) or sexual diversity, which is not racism per se, but have basically has the same stupidity index.
All in all... most religiously intolerant, racist and homofobic people in spain are those old enough to be brainwashed by the dictatorship which teached to hate jews, go to the church and hunt the gays.
Don't worry, they're gonna kick the bucket soon :lol
