I was looking forward to actually playing fantasy basketball this season. Last year I had to give my team to some other GAFfer because I couldn't manage effectively while traveling.

With no real breakthroughs in talks today, NBA will have to cancel rest of Oct. preseason games and, finally, start of regular season.

Sigh, both sides wasting some legit Mo after last season.

I just want NBA basketball.

Man I'm really raging right now.

Considering my team doesn't even matter that much but damn they are the only team I root for. Damn greedy dingbats are preventing me from that.

This is also going to ruin 2k as long as this shit goes on. If we had the rookies I wouldn't be as pissed but noooooooooo. herpderp lockout with 7 hour meaningless meetings happen with two assholes having dickwaving contests and shit.

Man just cancel the entire season so I can stop caring.

I rather they get things right and set up things for a more even playing field(parity, more variety in finals teams), but I'm not sure that everyone involved truly wants that.

But Mamba's denial of reality and logistics and Dream's total failure to understand reality was so much nicer.

Denial of reality? I never once said the season couldn't be delayed. I've just been very optimistic a deal would get done in time. It still might, but I'm no longer optimistic.

(yes, I said "book it" once, but that was tongue 'n cheek)

And in the end, the players will end up getting screwed (from their perspective) regardless, so I think they're making a mistake, overall. We'll see.

Just like a Utah fan to have hope when its hopeless.

I've had no hope about this ever, the season is going to start late, it's going suck a bit, the NBA's popularity will go way down, 2K12 will sell way less than 11 and that will cause TT to try less moving forward, once the offseason finally starts the Jazz will trade away Devin Harris but get a crappy point guard back and then trade away Millsap for air when they could get Lowry or Ibaka, there will be a two year rule that makes the 2012 draft suck, the Warriors will make the playoffs making that pick worthless, and the Jazz will miss the playoffs by ten games. It's gonna be bad.

Yep. The league was on fire after the evil trio and now the NBA will sink back to being at the back of people's mind with the NFL, MLB, and others taking its place.

Especially with the way the economy is going and 15-20 million people people who'd like to work not working. Casual fans will not take kindly to millionaires quibbling about millions while so many people are getting fucked right now.

It's a big gamble by both sides. I can see a backlash in attendance and ratings, for sure.

No one needs to hear Stern call these "exhausting" days of negotiation. Exhausted are the arena workers piecing together parttime jobs now.
Exhausted are the people that read whatever your agent buddies tell you to print. ("You guys are losing because Billy Hunter didn't decertify!")

Yeah but part of being in a Union is to be unified which means they have to think of everyone not just the top class guys.

I'm not saying to take a shitty deal (the 46% thing is bullshit as it stands) but they can't be rash and sit out the entire season when a great number of your peers cannot afford to do so. That's selfish and undermines the whole point of the Union.

These super-star fuckers only care about themselves. Unitary my ass. The synchronous bashing to the owners wont do anything. Go to a basketball game, putting a lot of people out of work. Wade can have fun studying the male genitals for the rest of the year.

The stars in the league will continue to get their 10+ mil a year contracts, plus whatever endorsement money they can round up. It's the lower level guys who will get fucked the hardest. That's why when the top level guys say they're down with sitting out the year it is great for the union as a whole, particularly the smaller contract players.

You know, he gets a ton of shit right and is usually the first to do so, but it's quite clear where his info comes from.

Yeah, I still follow him because he breaks a lot of news. But I really don't care for his obnoxious columns and really don't want any of his opinions. Especially concerning the lockout when he continues to push "the union should have decertified!" angle. That's just wrong.

I'm not gonna get to see Miami open the season at MSG :(

Whatever, I'll watch when they come back. Casual fans can piss off anyways!

But there aren't enough hard core fans to keep the machine going. Casuals drive the business. Without them, the NBA is in NHL territory. Probably below because the NHL at least has all of the fabled Canadas.

How dare Kyrie and Tristan play with LeBron on the same team. psh, no respect for Cleveland.

:lol Baron Davis just showed up. Not in a 80s flannel though :(

But the entire point of the lockout is financial gain for the owners so if they lose a lot of casual fans, they'll have wasted games and excitement while having gained nothing financially or basically a complete a total failure. I think they expect a decline for the next few years, but to return to 2010-2011 levels of popularity by say 2017 or 2018 and have a really nice position then, but it's a major risk.

So who's hyped for the monday meetings?

I mean they will obviously get stuff done then...rite?

lawl...I've calmed down a bit and all I'm gonna do is troll this shit

The RealGM reports from these summer league games say that LeBron quickness is gone and that he can't beat nobody Power Forwards off the dribble in a game where no defense is being played. I haven't watched them and basing any judgement off of games where no one is trying seems to be a bad idea, but I want to use this information to troll the Heat. Hopefully he looks bad at the beginning of the season. Whenever that is.

it wouldnt surprise me if his quickness has gone a bit considering he had superhuman quickness for his size. he's also packed on the weight in recent years. i bet he's pushing 270.

In a few years, Fat Shawn Kemp is going to be replaced with Fat Lebron James. It'll be glorious.
